Nice video. A suggestion, The IC-705 Touch Screen is the fragile weak link in the system and needs some sort of protection. Consider side rails from Side KX along with the Polycarbonate Plastic Cover to protect the screen. Obviously an emergency go kit is worthless if the radio gets broken.
You’re right! Thanks I actually have the metal cage for it. But it didn’t fit into the case so I took it for. I may 3d print myself a cover.
Nice EDC com set. I didn't know about these. Most EDC radios were the only receivers I found.
Thanks. Yeah. There’s so many radios out there. This is just what I use. I use a yeasu vx6 as my daily walkie talkie style radio.
Not bad. I came up with putting a small CB transceiver into a .50 cal metal ammo can. I placed a small magnetic base 11 meter antenna (that has a 1: 1.7 SWR), a small 12v motorbike battery, an analog SWR meter. Also room in there for a small amp if needed. I went with CB as so many people in my city have them. I think GMRS would have been better but so few around here show an interest for the frequency.
I actually have a very similar setup as you but with a VHF UHF radio. I never got into CB and i dont think it's used very much in my area. Is your setup posted online anywhere? I'd like to see it or if you have an instagram send me a DM @letscreate.dev
@@Rootkitdev Sorry. You Tube is about as social media as I do. And I do not have a video/channel. I guess you will just have to use your Barney Imagination (PBS). 😃
I guess I could one day try a jpg with e-mail. Damn CB er's anyway.
Haha. I’ll be waiting for that letter.
Great presentation!
Thank you. I really appreciate it. God bless.
Maybe add a paper copy of the bands plan? I find it helpful.
That’s a good idea. I do keep a frequency list in my notebooks. But I’ve been thinking of printing out and laminating them. On like a flash card
💯👍👍👍🙋♂
Thanks! I'm still thinking of what videos to make, so i'll take any suggestions!
You really need to rethink your EDC radio choice. That's definitely not practical for a bug out bag or get home bag. There are way too many really good high-quality handheld radios that will serve your purpose better. Much lighter, much less bulk in your bag.
I think i'd honestly disagree-- I still have my vx6 with me every where I go along with a mobilink TNC... but You can't beat the IC-705 right now. HF, VHF,UHF, built in TNC, all the bells and whistles that you need.
But if you have recommendations i'd love to take some!.
I did sell the IC-705 tho-- so the bag is much lighter now. lol
@@Rootkitdev why carry on your back all the unnecessary bulk and weight? Food, water, medical supplies and ammo are exponentially more important. A lightweight radio will suffice.
Too comical. Was a 7 level radio tech in the USAF. I hold a commercial license as wel as an Extra Class HAM license. If you have a radio I WILL find you, even if all you are doing is listening I can find your IF frequency.. The best thing these days is if you have a radio.,..don;t use it unless ylou want to be found and killed
Can you explain how you’d find me if I’m listening?
I’d also love for you to try. Genuinely I’d love to learn how you would.
He has what’s known as the Golden Counterpoise grid dip oscillator plate voltage meter. He will find us all.
