I have a 1994 silverado step side with the 5.7. It's been my daily driver since day one. No rust and a clean history. Body is good with only one door ding. I'm thinking on buying another one to restore. I want to put the new 2019 6.2 with a 6 0r 8 automatic. Even a stock 6.2 in a 94 step side would be more then enough, map it and it would be a great sleeper. I know it may be heavy but the 6/8 speed should. A 5.3 would be lighter and that may be better.
Brandon Alder That would be great info to be able to share. I'll put that on the list, but honestly I dont see it happening for a long time, if it does. Too many other projects ahead of it and I dont have this truck myself.
Can you do a video on making a harness? I did a LS swap on a 1975 Caprice Classic and I need AC tips I know I can buy an aftermarket bracket to hold my r4 air compressor but I was wondering do you have eight different way
godcarsmoney I plan to make another video of how I just give power to the stock unmodified truck harness to make the engine run, but this time with more detail. I have two other ways to share on mounting an AC compressor. One is to use a junk yard bracket off of an older TBI truckk to mount your original R4 compressor on the LS motor. I show with good detail how I did this on the "93 Roadmaster 5.3 Swap Overview" video. The other way is to move the passenger side motor mount back to make room for the original LS AC compressor. I just did this on my truck and I'll be posting a video tonight at about 7 of this.
I like to leave 'em at stock height... but I grew up on a dirt road, so the ability to barrel down those is a preference for me. Very nice, though. That's just about what I'd like to do right there, even leaving out the a/c.
+Carlos Gavin Thanks Carlos! You can have the cash for a LS in your truck, you've just got to start saving and collecting parts. I usually spend a year collecting parts before I do a swap. It takes time for us poor boys. $2k in parts total for a swap isn't as bad when it's stretched out over a year. Side jobs on the weekends for the years will cover that.
Great video man and awesome workmanship on the swap !! great info to have i will be doin one in the future im sure. It was good to meet you after the world record burnout in memphis at the last power tour, glad your c10 didnt get burnt up anymore than it did !!!
+jchevy33 haha Thanks man! What were you driving so that I can remember who I'm talking to. BTW I finally made a bracket to keep those trans lines away from the header instead of zip ties... lol Speaking of, I should do a video covering that bracket.
I may do that one day. I'd have to have the time first. My full time job, three young kids, personal projects and UA-cam take up all of my time right now. Maybe I'll open a shop one day when I get out of the military.
that's a nice ass silverado bro.your video randomly popped up and I started watching.when you pulled out of the parking lot I notice the road was very familiar and then noticed it was fort campbell blvd.lol blew my mind. I live in clarksville too. and I own a 96 z71 extended cab.

Nice videos, love the LS swaps. I think you both should invest in a decent stall converter and you'd be surprised how much it will wake up that 5.3 pushing through the 4l80e. Don't have to get crazy but 2500-3500 makes a big difference over stock, especially from a dig or rolling into in on the street.
You are exactly right and I've been preaching this to people around me. It is now on our wish list and Richard will probably get one before I do. I was trying to keep my truck real mild as just a peppy daily driver, but I'm itching pretty bad for a 3k stall lately.
Cool man thank you for the info. Also, i used the transdapt 1" set back plates on my swap with the original clam shells as well. Ran it with the stock exhaust manifolds since i did the swap (about a year). I recently installed the schoenfeld 88-98 longtube swap headers, and they're rubbing on the passenger side firewall heat shield. Bent it out of the way as much as possible, but i still get a little vibration noise at idle and hard acceleration. Going to be switching over to the standard swap plates, probably when i do the heads. Should pull it forward enough to get some clearance. Just some info you might want to pass on to your buddy for future reference. Also, those plates caused me to drill new cross member holes almost exactly 1" behind the original ones. I used a built 4L65E though, not the 4L80E like his.
Jurors954 Good info! I know its better to have the weight as far rearward as possibly, but I sure do like having some space behind the motor. I used the central mounting plates on my C10 and I like the space that I have around it, but when moving the motor we have to be aware of driveshaft length and how much yoke we have in the trans. I usually let that determine where I put the motor to avoid the cost of modifying the driveshaft. With those Schoenfelds in a C10, they usually want the 1" set backs because we have an issue with the headers hitting our lower control arm. Since I used the standard plates, I had to dent the heck out of one tube. Sucks. YEa, the 80e mount sits a few more inches back then the 60e. He had to move the crossmember about 4" or so back.
Jurors954 Thanks for sharing your experience with those headers on a smilier truck. that way Richard Wiley will know what to expect when he swaps to headers.
AGearHead4Life Jurors954 Thanks for this guys. I had questions about why to do a 1" setback as soon as I heard it on the video. Makes sense now. Will the driveshaft fit on a swapped 88-98 style truck using the stock clamshells? When I do my swap it will absolutely have headers. I would like to avoid bashing them to fit if I can.
Yes, the driveshaft can fit fine as long as you place the engine in the right spot. That's why a lot of people like to have adjustable adapter plates. There are things that can vary when doing a swap that may change where you need to place the engine. For example, my yoke was an inch thicker than usual. So I moved the engine back forward and inch.
Awesome video!!! That's the same year make and model that I'm doing..But plans have come to a stand still.. I've got surgery Friday .. Completely torn bicep tendon...Shit sucks right now..LOL..
im diggn it..helluva nice truck.ive got a 5.3 on a stand ive been planning on swapping in my 2000 obs for about 2yrs now.keep tellin myself once the 5.7 gives up ill do it.problem is ive got 270k on her and still cant kill it..lol
+Danny Roach haha cool story. I'm betting eventually you're going to get sick of waiting for it to die and pull it... watch. You've got the LS itch! lol
Just finished my ls swap 04 5.3l59\4l80e on my 1998 c1500. It ended costing a little over $1500 after selling my old engine\trans. I paid more for trans then the engine, the engine including all accessories, wiring and extra stuff ended costing me $80 (LKQ 40% off sale) after returning an old core I had laying around and the trans was $300 of 5miles app. Did most of the work my self with the help of UA-cam videos, lt1 swaps.com, and forums. I did run in to some problems initially but now I have put about 3000 miles since then.
Also Im wondering if I have the original fuse box and wiring from donor could I just use it and stick it off in my truck and just get vats removed from pcm and 2 o2 sensors deleted then tune it would it work still? instead of fooling with cutting wires and adding smaller fuses.
+AGearHead4Life I thought I recognized that road lol. I have a 88 k1500 and wanted to do the swap awhile back but I thought it was gonna be hard so I ended up putting another 350 tbi in it. Wish I would've swapped the 5.3 lol
hey mark in back I got my 88 Chevy running good but just the transmission seems to not working right ..what's is required to have on the harness to make it shift right..im out off clues man.. Is driving me crazy this swap.. Thanks for all you help man
gabe jacquez Glad to hear its running good man! Congrats! I'm not sure what to tell you about your harness. With out knowing what trans you have, carb or FI or what you've done to the harness its hard for me to know anything. I leave the whole harness there. So I havent had this question in my builds. All I do is give it power. Good luck man!
Chad Hossack I only know fur sure that they are 17” wheels. I’d guess that the tires were somewhere around 275/65/17. Richard Wiley Owens the truck. You may be able to find him on Facebook to get more details. I’ll message him now.
@@richbmxer871 Thank you kindly for your time. I have the same truck, stock Vortec though...lol. And now know what rims and tire combo I want. Thanks again, Chad.
I'm having trouble with the wiring on the transmission range plug I have 3 wires hanging out off the connection I look at the diagram they are for neutral switch signal.but I don't know if need them
I can tell you that the motor will run fine with that unplugged, but not sure, without reviewing the wiring diagram, if they're needed for the trans to function correctly. I doubt it'd need it though. The neutral saftey switch that I use is built into my trucks steering column.
I plan to do a lsx swap on my gmt400. I plan to make it as simple as possible by buying a wrecked gmt800 and swap parts over. curious to know if the plastic tanks on the gmt800 would swap over without hassle to a gmt400?
so u slap the walbro fuel pump on the stock fuel filter from the 1994 an it should work right. plug the supply to supply an return to return from the fuel rails
Yep pretty much. You swap out the TBI low pressure fuel pump for a high pressure fuel pump in the tank on the sending unit. Make sure that any rubber lines that you have on the system handle the new higher pressure. If I remember right, they did, but I could be wrong. If they dont handle the pressure, replace it with high pressure fuel injection hose and high pressure hose clamps.
Do you guys replace the stock push rods and oil pump with these junk yard motors? doing a cam swap on my 5.3 not sure if i should replace those two things.
Depends in the cam. Get a adjustable pushrod checker and thatll help you figure out what size rods you need. Its all a combination depending on whether you are milking the heads down .030 or .040, but if you are going with his style of setup he has that information on one of the videos of the truck ones.
Mason Bansch Pushrod question was just whatever, I was just mainly wondering if I should trust the old oil pump or pick up a new one for 99$. All my 5.3 is getting, is a custom grind cam, valve spring kit, hardened push rods, timing chain, was just wondering if it was okay to reuse the oil pump.
Clean wiring job. Any recommendations on where to get that braided loom? Real clean, straight truck. The drop will only make it look better. It would probably benefit from a little more tire.
Watched this 100 times lol just got my standalone in and mounting pcm behind glove box 88 c1500 02 lq9 4l80 what's the simplest way to hook her up? Loose old pcm? Not using original gauges everything is done except wiring and couldn't be anymore lost!! Any advice would be great thanks
Allen Townsend We usually use this one. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575162067&toolid=10001&campid=5337841854&customid=&icep_item=260946268628&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg
Hey man that's some very good work .so my question is how much would you charge to do a wiring harness for the same vehicle well I have a 1996 GMC Sierra and I want to start doing the ls 5.3 swap I'm going to go with a stock engine and I'm going to keep my oil 60e trance .
+Thomas Richards Yes, it's the LM7 which is part of the LS family. In my other videos, I show my 3rd Gen Camaro that I've LS swapped and am now swapping in another LS motor with a turbo.
i know what engine youre talking about when you say 5.3 lsx but its really not a 5.3 "ls" all of the ls motors are all aluminum and the real 5.3 ls is the ls4 thats in the fwd applications (impala, gxp, etc). i watched a couple of your other videos good stuff.
+Thomas Richards Thanks Thomas! Just to make sure that you know, the term "LS" will be used to described any of the LS series motors (4.8/5.3/5.7/6.0/6.2) by the LSx community. For example, if I pulled up in my 1987 Chevy truck to a car meet and a dodge (ford, etc) guy asks what engine do I have, if I said LS, he'd know what I'm talking about. If I said LM7, a question mark would pop out of their head. Because the term LS is used to cover all of the series of motors by people who build them, since just about all of their parts are interchangeable.
+Thomas Richards So, we're able to chant "LS Power!", since a motor could be a LM7 with LS1 heads and LS6 intake with a LS2 cam. What would we call that, if not "LS".Also, we it would be a waste of time to start saying that I LM7 swapped my truck. lol Wouldn't make sense. I'd have to explain it every time. But LS swapped, everyone understands.
sry mark if I'm keep asking you questions on the comments but I not much of how to do it in another way... My 88 Chevy is a 06 5.3 with the 4l60e but I did the harness myself following the lt1 swap page just the transmission is not working right is like the converter is not locking up right man
gabe jacquez Not a problem Gabe. This is probably the best way. That or join our Facebook blog page "A Gear Head For Life" and post up there. We've got a great group of konwledgable and respectful guys there that help each other out. What do you mean its not locking up right? Maybe look into the tune?
+Kevin Kemp Hard for me to say if there was a big difference since I never drove that motor before all the mods. But the mods all work together to come to a final performance. So, it's more compression and more compression is good for performance. If you're asking if it was a big enough difference to pull your 5.3 out to swap pistons, I'd say no. Just mill the heads. My engine was already out. But if youre building a 5.3 and it'll be NA, do it.
I have 93 half cab Silverado and my dad and I we are thinking of making LS swap since the 5.7 is dying after many years of going up and down I would like to know how much did you spend for all to happen
+julio bello The rough guesstimate that I've come up for a budget LS swap on something like that is $2500, depending on ones ability to source parts and which options you chose.
AGearHead4Life I will check around on junkyards because I want engine and transmission swap Because my dad friend who works on junkyard he ones was going to sell my dad 5.3 vortex with all wiring for 500 bad thing was we didn't had any money we regret not taking the offer right away
Feedback, helpful information requested. I'm looking to go to an LS swap into my 1991 Silverado 4x4. Suggested drivetrain to go with? I would like to go with the entire drivetrain: Engine, Transmission and transfer case. Not sure if this is an issue as the front axle gear box is on the passenger side - for the front driveshaft. Any suggestions on what vehicle to obtain a 5.3L drivetrain from that'll work? Anyone that has information feel free to comment. Any information or links would be greatly appreciated. Keep rolling AGearHead4Life. I enjoy the videos. This was close to what I want but I'm working with a 4x4 1991. Thanks, Mitchell
Hey Mitchell! Thank you! I hope that you've found some answer to some of your questions by now. It's taken me too long to get a response back to you. I havent done a 4x4 myself, so I wont have much help for you. Yes, a 5.3 and it's matching trans and transfer case should fit for your swap, I just cant tell you how.
how did you guys set up your stock tachometer? I found the wire coming from the stock harness and found the output from the ecm, connected them but no luck...
+Augustine Garcia What you described is usually all that I have to do. Maybe your tach requires a different signal? You'll have to research that one. If it does, dakota digital makes signal converters. That'll probably depend on what year yours is. I know that some of the late 90's trucks, people use both the LS PCM and the trucks original computer to control the gauges. Maybe the owner of this truck, Richard, will reply here as well.
There's a few threads says No Bueno on the LS9 cam in a 4.8 but I dont think they are boosted. Ill keep looking but it looks like a good mid-lift boost cam.
I'd be the LS6 cam would be perfect for that project, but I they're becoming hard to find and people want too much for them. The LS6 cam is an excellent boost cam. I think a LS2 cam is very similar to the LS6 cam and probalby can be found much cheaper. It's an idea to consider. Although you do have to find the front cover and cam sensor to run it. I know the LS9 cam is very cheap new, but maybe the LS2 cam would help the low range and still be a great boost cam.
I see what your saying on the low rpm characteristics between the different cams. Believe it or not this Turbo 4.8 will be in my daily driver 1985 S10 Blazer; as long as it makes boost say 2800-3000+ rpm's on up it will be perfect. I don't want to be into boost while at normal highway cruising rpm's as this kills fuel mileage. The plan is to map out a dependable driving machine that will get down when needed. OD transmission and 3.27 gears out back to boot! Thanks keep on wrenching! We'll be watching!
HeadFlowInc I like it man. That really sounds like a cool build. I like the low budget aspect of it, keeping fuel mileage in mind and it'll still whoop some butt when needed. It gets old listening to so many people pick the biggest most powerful and expensive things and tell me thats what they want and nothing else. Then the next thing you know, they never built anything becuase they couldnt afford that stuff. They let those oversized dreams stop their enjoyment of a project. I think its sad. People need to be realistic when planning a project and quit trying to be the most extreme thing out there. Use some creativity people and enjoy what you have! Ok, I'm off my soap box now...
Do u have a link to the motor and transmission mounts you used I have the same truck and hopefully picking up the engine and trans this week to do the swap
These are usually the motor mount adapter plates that we use with the factory mounts. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575162067&toolid=10001&campid=5337841854&customid=&icep_item=231829660999&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg The Trans was factory. We just moved the trans cross member back for it.
Awesome looking swap. Got a question, I have a 5.3 4L80 im putting in my 69 c10. it's a bolt on yoke 4l80 also. what do you mean you sealed the end with JB weld? I was going to get a counterbore slip yoke, but is there some other way to make a full spline bolt on yoke work or am I missing something here... you used the bolt on yoke? Thanks man
Yep. He plugged the end on his yoke with JBWeld and a coin and so did I on two other swaps. Works fine. Just make sure that you have enough spline engagement. Should have about an inch or a little more of the yoke sticking out of the trans.
My truck radiator is leaking and I plan on swapping a 6.0 in. Will the 4.3l radiator replacement work for the swap? Or should I try to get one that definitely works for both?
Nice man i love your videos very helpful every time i learn something .. Im working on a 88 but i cant figure out on the harness for the 4l60e transmission is a 5.3.. 06
This should be the correct one that you're looking for. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DN44QO/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=age0a0-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B001DN44QO&linkId=d8cb7a6075ca266e9817546eea774f6d
I got 91 z71 stepside with ls1 on it and 4l60e behind it with aftermarket clutch and transgo, one issue, transmission cant hold crazy driving.. Wonder how to put the 4l80 behind it??i ask and most said i have to do some wiring and new harness
There's something simply glorious about accelerating a big American V8,the rumble, the torque, it doesn't matter how old i get it still put shivers down my skin, pure awesomeness...
Been dreaming about a 5.3 swap for a while now, you said it best at the end. Stop wishing start doing!
+ACA332 Thats it brotha! Get it!
I found one for 5k

very clean truck!
You get around bro !
Hey sloppy what do you charge for a dyno tune
Hiding the wirers made the engine bay look so clean I love it
What a sweet truck! I love how clean it still is too
Would love to see more on the wiring side especially on gmt 400 trucks like this . As was discussed earlier in the group I plan on feeding mine a 6.0
Brandon Alder That would be great info to be able to share. I'll put that on the list, but honestly I dont see it happening for a long time, if it does. Too many other projects ahead of it and I dont have this truck myself.
Understood. The wiring is the only thing I worry about
Brandon Alder Yea, most do. It is time consuming. Just have to study the wires and diagrams.
Hopefully Kenny will make the harness one less headache
The new video is up! Check it out! It's an overview of my buddy Richard's '94 Chevy truck LS 5.3 swap, also some cruising and racing in the video.
you should race him in your 87.
theexpendable11 We hope to when the opportunity comes. That would make a good video!

Cool! But the original ls air compressor have to be a static 1 right but things! Are you on IG?
The guy in the dodge would be even more surprised now with the Transmission tune that I got a few weeks ago. Makes a world of difference.
+Richard Wiley Time to get the camera out and go play again...
Hey Richard would you be interested in getting paid to make me a harness just like yours? I wanna put a 5.3 in my 94 k1500
I appreciate all the info... so many people dont tell what was done to do a swap.
Brian Mizell Thanks for the feedback Brian! Glad we could help.
Planning on doin an LS3 swap into my 96 c1500, beautiful truck, love the wheels.
I have a 96 c1500 too !
Yours has the 4.3L too correct ?
I like to leave 'em at stock height... but I grew up on a dirt road, so the ability to barrel down those is a preference for me.
Very nice, though. That's just about what I'd like to do right there, even leaving out the a/c.
stock height also keeps it a sleeper! that ugly red thing in the video might have thought twice if it were lowered...
Loud ass exhaust+LSX decal loses it's sleeper status.
"That thing got a Hemi?" ... "shut up..." :D
I like your idea splicing in t!he old Trans lines with the new trans lines. Great IDEA!
that's a hell of a truck boys good job wish I had the money for a LS swap on my gmt400
+Carlos Gavin Thanks Carlos! You can have the cash for a LS in your truck, you've just got to start saving and collecting parts. I usually spend a year collecting parts before I do a swap. Got a 99 suburban (same body style last year for truck was 98 and last for burban was 99) this video helped me allot thanks man!!!

Good ol Clarksville Tennessee. I was stationed there twice.
I bet they had some mean barbeque
This is cool, I have a 94' Yukon I'm doing a little too now, motivation here
I got a 98 5 speed short box 5.7 (350) truck with 120 miles on it black exactly like this best truck I’ve ever had
Thinking about buying a 4l80e what is the process to get it to work in a 89 behind a 5.3 ?
FINKO FLAME Adapting the flex plate, cooler lines, moving the crossmember back and changing the yoke on the driveshaft.
Love that black clean look. Old school looking Cragers add to the look. Nice job!
You should consider taking on ls swap jobs for other people, you already have the ls niche market behind you.
I may do that one day. I'd have to have the time first. My full time job, three young kids, personal projects and UA-cam take up all of my time right now. Maybe I'll open a shop one day when I get out of the military.
AGearhead4Life hemi 318 swaps or go home
+AGearhead4Life where are you located
+supri45 Currently stationed in Huntsville, AL, but once I get out I will be going home to San Antonio, TX.
To start with nice looking truck and the LS engine switch over was awesome gotta love it. 💯👍🏻
nice job on wiring and other under hood details
Nice ,clean swap guys !!! That truck sounds and goes awesome !!! Boy was that guy in the Dodge surprised .... LOL
that's a nice ass silverado bro.your video randomly popped up and I started watching.when you pulled out of the parking lot I notice the road was very familiar and then noticed it was fort campbell blvd.lol blew my mind. I live in clarksville too. and I own a 96 z71 extended cab.
Sweet! We no longer live there though. Both of us have since gotten out of the military and moved back home.
Nice video I'm thinking about doing a 5.3 in my 79 El Camino
+Jason McCann Thanks! Do it!
I never thought of that, I was gonna make it so the exhaust came out from the back of the side of the bed but that's just for looks. Make my own headers huh, well I guess all I can do is try, sounds like fun thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll make a video
+Antonio Palafox Yea, I think it'd be fun. It's on my to-do list. You can buy a header kit from summitracing and build it the way you want. Just find the flanges for it. I'm not sure if that comes in the kit.
That's nice how you did your truck. Watch for those oak grove police thou!!!
Clean swap I have a 97 chevy c1500 I would like to LS swap but keep my 4l60e since it's already built
Can't wait to start my 82 swap
Broke it down man...i appreciate that
Yessssir!
Very good looking truck, sounds mean too. Good job!

Jurors954 I'll check it out!
Not bad... A nice clean and simple swap I like it!
Nice swap and good job on the video. Dodge will always be the red headed step child trying to compete.
Thank you!
haha the races at the end were dope, unplanned races are always the best lol, bowtie ftw
+jared p Yesssir! You're right. Good times!
I'm betting eventually you're going to get sick of waiting for it to die and pull it... watch. You've got the LS itch! lol
+AGearHead4Life no doubt!lol
Damn! Super clean truck and badass too. That dodge didnt even have a chance!
Thought that was FLW for a bit there, til I saw the FC sign. Funny how all main post roads look the same...
I love the truck it’s clean and straight. A lot of work went into it. But I’m curious to why you did not use the 6.0
bigphil1982siny Thanks! Because the 5.3 is cheaper, easier to find and makes plenty of power for the purpose of this build.
Thats what I was going to say for the price of one 6.0 you could buy two 5.3
Super clean truck, I'm doing the same swap.
Man do what you want but i think its stance now is bad ass.
Mannnn... That truck is nuts!!!! That dodge will think twice before he runs up on another bowtie
Very nice work on that! Im hoping i can swap my 88 stepside soon.
Beautiful chevy exactly what I want down to the color great job on the truck
Yep, that is exactly what I did in the link I'm posting here. Make sure to read the video description. ua-cam.com/video/VogkaVNGkCU/v-deo.html
Oh yea I remember that video now, appreciate it man.
Hope you decide against dropping it. Looks great as is! You'll regret lowering it. Trust me.
Is this video on Ft. Campbell Blvd out by gate 4 in Clarksville? If so that's awesome, I live about 30 minutes away from Clarksville
+Shelby Thomas Yep! I visit there about once a year, but Richard was living there at the time.
+AGearHead4Life I thought I recognized that road lol. I have a 88 k1500 and wanted to do the swap awhile back but I thought it was gonna be hard so I ended up putting another 350 tbi in it. Wish I would've swapped the 5.3 lol
+Shelby Thomas That happens often and that's why I'm here.
hey mark in back I got my 88 Chevy running good but just the transmission seems to not working right ..what's is required to have on the harness to make it shift right..im out off clues man..
Good luck man!
can you please tell me the AR Torq Thrust rim size used and the tire sizes please.
Looks perfect
Chad Hossack I only know fur sure that they are 17” wheels. I’d guess that the tires were somewhere around 275/65/17.
Richard Wiley Owens the truck. You may be able to find him on Facebook to get more details.
I’ll message him now.
They are vision wheels. 17x9, 275/55/17.
@@AGearHead4Life Thanks so much.
@@richbmxer871 Thank you kindly for your time.
I have the same truck, stock Vortec though...lol.
And now know what rims and tire combo I want. Thanks again, Chad.
@@chadhossack470 no problem, anytime.
I'm having trouble with the wiring on the transmission range plug I have 3 wires hanging out off the connection I look at the diagram they are for neutral switch signal.but I don't know if need them
What does the diagram show that they run to on the other ends?
I can tell you that the motor will run fine with that unplugged, but not sure, without reviewing the wiring diagram, if they're needed for the trans to function correctly. I doubt it'd need it though. The neutral saftey switch that I use is built into my trucks steering column.
I might be able to get a 5.3l in my 94 soon I might have a deal on a motor and I’m like a little kid on Christmas with that motor
man that was nice . Im putting a 99 5.3 in my 88 chevy 1500 4x4,
With this swap what had to be done to the drive shaft u joint ect did u have to change anything
Hi I got a 93 k1500 and I swap ls 5.3l and trans 4l80e but I do not have the correct drive shaft
I plan to do a lsx swap on my gmt400. I plan to make it as simple as possible by buying a wrecked gmt800 and swap parts over. curious to know if the plastic tanks on the gmt800 would swap over without hassle to a gmt400?
You've got a good plan! I don't think the tank will swap over though.
Alright then thanks
Damn thats a sweet truck! and it sounds nice!
did u pup any kind of fuel pressure regulator on the fuel lines
No. It already has one from the factory.
so u slap the walbro fuel pump on the stock fuel filter from the 1994 an it should work right. plug the supply to supply an return to return from the fuel rails
Great videos! Keep it up
Makes me want to get a c10 or silverado and ls swap it!
You dont have to unless you know it's in bad condition, but probably safer to buy a new one to be safe :p
we reuse the old oil pumps. Only thing to watch out for is the oil pump O-ring on the pick up tube. Those can go bad and you'll just suck air.
AGearhead4Life Awesome, thanks. i'll replace the O ring and just pay extra attention to the oil pressure at first.
Clean wiring job. Any recommendations on where to get that braided loom?
Real clean, straight truck. The drop will only make it look better. It would probably benefit from a little more tire.
He got it from eBay. Just make sure to get the split loom. I got some that wasn't split, thats pretty tricky to use...
Could you please ask where he bought that splitter on the upper radiator hose for the line that goes under the throttle body.
Did you use the stock gauges if so how did you wire in the Speedo Tach and CEL?
Watched this 100 times lol just got my standalone in and mounting pcm behind glove box 88 c1500 02 lq9 4l80 what's the simplest way to hook her up? Loose old pcm? Not using original gauges everything is done except wiring and couldn't be anymore lost!! Any advice would be great thanks
hi buddy, what name these wheels? and rims-tire dimensions? i like it
damm would love to do that to my 93 chevy 1500
What's the part number for the rubber fuel lune that you used on this truck?
I dont know. You can find it behind the counter at Oreillys on the green roll.
I love it but thought it'd be faster..still awesome!
Awesome build dude love your channel
can tell me what he looked up for his cold air intake I looked up some and they all looked good but the reviews weren't good

AGearHead4Life thanks man I appreciate a lot man I'm just now doing mine with my uncle my first truck swapping in a 97 ls1 into 1993 single cab
There isn't any reason to run the corvette filter/regulator on these trucks?
+John Kahl Nope! Truck intake has a built in regulator.
Cool, but you're missing some twins under the hood an posi rear...that was fun....
Hey man that's some very good work .so my question is how much would you charge to do a wiring harness for the same vehicle well I have a 1996 GMC Sierra and I want to start doing the ls 5.3 swap I'm going to go with a stock engine and I'm going to keep my oil 60e trance .
Clarksville, Tn i knew i recognized that road when y’all pulled out! 😂✊🏽
amrodriguez866 haha
I’m in west, TN. Do you swap other people’s trucks? I’ve got a 96 that I want 5.3 swapped
this is the iron block lm7 right? not technically ls but gen 3 architecture same thing. friend of mine is putting one in a 3rd gen t/a
+Thomas Richards Yes, it's the LM7 which is part of the LS family.
Sweet truck. Question. What holes on the motor mount adapt plates did you mount the shells on?
Did you had to do adjustment to your cluster lights to turn on , and headlights and tailights ?
sry mark if I'm keep asking you questions on the comments but I not much of how to do it in another way...
Maybe look into the tune?
what wires did you hook up to so you could get oil pressure gauge to work . I have a 1993 chevy truck. and had the 4.3
You should just be able to run your gauge wire from you truck to the pigtail of the LS oil pressure sensor.
Hey just wanted to know when u swap the 4.8 pistons into the 5.3 was their a big difference? which heads are you using?
+Kevin Kemp Hard for me to say if there was a big difference since I never drove that motor before all the mods. But the mods all work together to come to a final performance. So, it's more compression and more compression is good for performance. If you're asking if it was a big enough difference to pull your 5.3 out to swap pistons, I'd say no. Just mill the heads. My engine was already out. But if youre building a 5.3 and it'll be NA, do it.
+AGearhead4Life
Hey thanks. Keep doing what your doing. Ima keep on wrenching!
+Kevin Kemp Oh, I forgot, I'm running my favorite 862 casting heads.
did you use the sane trasmision that came with the motor ?
No. He used a 4l80e.
I have 93 half cab Silverado and my dad and I we are thinking of making LS swap since the 5.7 is dying after many years of going up and down
I would like to know how much did you spend for all to happen
+julio bello The rough guesstimate that I've come up for a budget LS swap on something like that is $2500, depending on ones ability to source parts and which options you chose.
AGearHead4Life I will check around on junkyards because I want engine and transmission swap
Because my dad friend who works on junkyard he ones was going to sell my dad 5.3 vortex with all wiring for 500 bad thing was we didn't had any money we regret not taking the offer right away
Thanks,
Mitchell
What's your opinion on running the LS9 cam in a Turbo 4.8? GT-45 69mm 50 trim on pump gas and Meth?
I have little boost experience, but that sounds like an awesome budget build to me!
These are usually the motor mount adapter plates that we use with the factory mounts. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575162067&toolid=10001&campid=5337841854&customid=&icep_item=231829660999&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg
The Trans was factory. We just moved the trans cross member back for it.
Great Vid always impressed!! Learned a lot from your videos man Thumbs Up!
Send me information on how to wire the wires to the truck after I tear the hardness down just wire it to factory wires
Michael March Send me the information on the wires you plan to use. When you do, try using manners instead of commanding me to help you. 👍
@@AGearHead4Life sorry bout that this my first swap can u call me 8502744083 thanks
First off sweet truck and im just wondering how you got that wiring harness to work any info on it is much appreciated thanks
would i be able to put a 7.4 in my 94 Cheyenne
Nice man i love your videos very helpful every time i learn something .. Im working on a 88 but i cant figure out on the harness for the 4l60e transmission is a 5.3.. 06

Eaton's catalog says this for the LS unit in the link that I posted:
"1988 - 2013 GM 10 bolt C-Clip 8.5"/8.6" 1.32" 30"
I got 91 z71 stepside with ls1 on it and 4l60e behind it with aftermarket clutch and transgo, one issue, transmission cant hold crazy driving..
Wonder how to put the 4l80 behind it??i ask and most said i have to do some wiring and new harness
There are some harness changes, but theyre pretty easy. Also you'll need the spacer for the flex plate if using a stock 80e converter.
My brother is wanting to do a 5.3 swap into his 92 gmc will he have to buy adapters for it?
+ddallast2 Yes, or make his own. That would be the same swap as in this video.
+ddallast2 Motor mount adapters can be as cheap as $40.
+AGearHead4Life would you have an idea on how much the flywheel would be for one man?
+ddallast2 An automatic transmission flex plate for a LS 4l60e used should be less than $40. Actually, I have one that I'd sell.
