I was a 34 year old guy at that time way back in the early 1980s... Still clean and sober in 2022... Still love to hear Lady Day sing it like it should be sung... An Angel that was destroyed by more than Smack.

I second this thought completely! I am basically allergic to commercials, it is like a disease! One time I was listening to some songs on UA-cam while driving to work, and then a commercial rudely interrupted the song, and I was driving and it startled me and I was madly trying to end or negate the ad... It was horrible, a driver honked at me because I was driving to slow! Now I only play downloaded songs or use some ad-blocked yt apps when I'm driving... And it is SO insulting, if you think a little about it... Man, I was driving enjoying some music, and then the music is interrupted by some commercial... Whatever brand is interrupting the song, I wont buy anything from it... EVER...

My Grampa was a *huge* Billie Holiday fan. He was a child of the depression living in Brooklyn. Life was really hard for him but Miss Billie and Judy Garland always made him happy. I miss him every day. ❤️
Who else is here after seeing the US vs Billie Holiday? It was just a snippet of her life but it was amazing. I have loved her forever, her voice gifted to me by my grandmother over the course of many Sunday mornings. Billie is amazing and her honey covered vocals continue to bless us ALL.

I first got introduced to Billie Holiday when I was at school by my old English teacher and I’ve listened to her music now for nearly 40 years. There’s something timeless about her music and voice. The true sign of a real superstar and in my opinion singers these days could take a lesson from her and the other jazz greats.
Everyday I play a musician on their birthday in my classroom while my students work, they're in 3rd grade. This morning I was torn between two birthdays, and Billie is one of them. Her music brings me so much comfort. I’m going through the hardest break up I’ve ever gone through. It’s 4 in the morning and I can’t sleep. Idk why but listening to her soothes me in a strange way. It takes me back to a different time and makes me feel like I’m sitting at a bar drinking an old fashion with not a worry in the world.
