Hey guys! Just a quick one: I'm very honest in this reaction. Please understand that 1. It is entirely my personal opinion and it's perfectly fine if you disagree but please just don't be a dick about it lmao , 2. Those opinions were formed purely on first impression and will likely change very quickly and 3. 98% of me is completely in love and adoring of this song as a debut, please don't stretch that 2% that is critical but excited to see their growth and development over time out of proportion bc tbh it's not that deep. I know most of you are gonna be completely chill and this might seem a bit extreme but I know that sometimes people can get a bit tense over any kind of criticism and I wanna get ahead of that as much as possible. Any, STAN PURPLE KISS EVERYBODY!!
I just clicked on this video and haven't finished watching it yet, but I appreciate your honesty always. We know how much you love these girls and how closely you've been following them, so I know that any critique you might have is purely out of wanting the best for them as well. Can't wait to see these girls grow throughout their careers, it's amazing they are already so polished yet still have so much limitless potential to fill.
It's kind of funny cause I thought the point of a reaction is to listen to a song and form an opinion. I remember some moomoos trying to cancel a reactor just because they had some criticisms on Solars vocal technique - which really wasnt a criticism really but it just triggers people. That said, I love skip skip more.
it's all good! you're great at giving constructive criticism, and the things you point out are fair I think Your soft honesty is why I follow you in the first place haha
Personally I think reacting to Teasers is like really spoiling a book or tv show for yourself. Going in blind makes a bigger impact. I'd like to go into a debut without knowing anyone and make my judgement as objective as possible. Then I'll check out the members if I really like the song
I always appreciate your honest opinions! It’s very rare for a lot of reactors nowadays on UA-cam to be completely honest for fear of the backlash from the fans. Keep doing what you do and I’ll always support you.
Personally, I think Skip Skip is without a doubt the best song of Purple Kiss yet. But I do think that Ponzona is the best song for a debut. It's a great introduction as to who Purple Kiss is due to the whole 'Purple Kiss on the top' thing. That's why, even though I don't think it is the best song of the album(though I think it's better than the 2 pre releases) it was the best choice for their debut song Btw, will you react to the album?
I completely agree with it being a great debut track for the like "introduction" element of it for sure! And album reactions happen over on Patreon. Gonna be filming it in just a minute actually and I am PUMPED
I'm with you on SKIP SKIP. It's their best song so far, not just with the new album, but in general I think. I'm used to Can We Talk Again, but Period is a great ballad too. So I'm on the fence on that front.
We're all entitled to our opinions, never be afraid to voice them. Personally I think it's a great debut, very mature sound, very mature look and feel. Great production. I get what you're saying about line distribution, but it took Dreamcatcher until their last comeback to share things out more evenly, so time will tell. I shall now go listen to the album and I have a feeling it won't disappoint. RBW have another winner.
Yeah, the great trick for groups that have more than 4 or 5 members and sometimes even for groups that small (See Yeri of Red Velvet or Dasom of Sistar) is line distribution. One can never make the fans happy though as getting one person more lines takes away lines from someone else, so there will always be some fans that are unhappy about lines. If you are a producer, you just have to worry about making the song sounds as good as you can and try to get everyone at least some line. You'll be criticized either way, so focus on making the song good enough to make money and chart well and most other sins like someone getting very few lines will be forgiven in the grand scheme. Also, as fans we don't see the recording and planning sessions in most cases and how a song is carved up. We don't see a member who is maybe not confident about her vocals or her pronunciation take a smaller part because they don't think they can sing some part, or we don't see three members sing the same line and that the one who finally sang it for the track actually fits it best. I understand why companies often don't show much of the recording process as even with good live singers recording can sometimes have some embarrassing moments even for a main singer where they struggle with something and the company wants to shield them. That said, I often think it would get ride of a lot of the sniping from fans over line distribution if we saw more of that process at times and how and why songs are split the way they are.
i think the reason this release feels a little bit underwhelming to me personally is because there's been so much pre-debut buildup, that expectations have been set high. the track is great and unique amongst the current sound trends, but yeah, while extensive pre-debut content can be very beneficial for a group there's also that risk of an official debut not really living up to what's been demonstrated before, energy and power wise. still a great song tho lol side note, i, too, summon tall fit demon boys in my spare time and absolutely condone the practice
Yeah, it might be a bit like how Chungha set the bar so high with her pre-releases from her new album and that made it very hard for the lead single to top them. It just kind of matched them. It's the danger of doing strong pre-releases. Also, I think this has been a very weird year for companies to navigate due to Covid. In some cases they have delayed or postponed things more than they might have liked, hoping for a better time to release a song or album. Then that improvement in the environment doesn't happen as hoped and they have to decide whether to burn a track as a pre-release to keep up hype, delay again, or charge forward with the lead single and make the best of it. Plus all the companies are likely suffering from the inability to generate money from live performances, fan meets, etc. that are often what makes a group actually turn a profit.
I think this is RBW thing that rappers get two sections in song. I always appreciate it in Mamamoo's songs, that even If Moonbyul have the least lines, she still have time to shine
I felt similar during my first listen. Now that I've heard it a million times that feeling is kind of fading away. I realized that for us that have been following their predebut stuff got teased about this song too much? Like I've heard parts of it so many times. But then if I think about people that don't know them, that will find this as their introduction to the group, then it definitely does the job.
I hold the same opinions in general. It was probably the best track/concept from their EP to debut with to display their ability + sonically diff from current trends & dark concepts are popular now, but is not my personal fav track overall compared to the others. And as much as I love Swan and Go Eun, I also really had hoped to hear/see more of the other ladies in the mv at least for a balance of screentime vs line distrib. Overall, one of the best debuts and I hope they receive a lot of support!
You know in some ways, it is a sign of a good artistic debut that the deep cuts of your album are good enough to spur debate on whether they are better than your pre-release and lead single tracks. That is a great problem to have as it is a sign that you will hopefully produce great albums in the future and album sales are much more profitable for a group than singles. Also really good albums mean you will be able to have solo concerts sooner where you can fill it with your own songs and that is where companies and artists really start to make bank.
@@kentvesser9484 I would agree. I think overall it was a solid debut album and has a bit of something in there for everyone while showcasing the strengths in each of the girls for the diff themes/genres.
I absolutely love this song, although my fave songs on the album are Skip Skip, Period and Hello. Altogether an AMAZING debut and I'm so happy for them. I definitely have the same feelings about line distribution and it is the same feeling that I have with G-Idle as well. I love the voices of the Main Vocalists but I think that part of having a successful group is showing all of the members' potential and talents, and all the girls have amazing and unique voices so I really hope that they show them more. I love hearing tons of different vocal colors in songs, so even though I love Swan and Goeun's voices I would love it even more if I got to hear all of them showcasing their voices. The contrast between vocal colors are some of my favorite things to find in a song. Waiting for Jieun's low voice to make an appearance.
First I want to bring something about the song (taken from @ hamiswan on twitter): " Swan said 'Ponzona was actually an evaluation song. I didn't write it with the intention of writing a title song, I wanted to make a good song that could clearly show the color of PurpleKiss, but I feel good that it was even selected as a title song' (may contain inaccuracies) Link article t.co/HI9EGLCdrX Goeun and Swan composed and wrote the title track, Yuki also wrote her rap part for the title. " Now, I understand all the feelings and opinions but just to be short on mine, for me this is kinda what happened with Aya - Dingga by Mamamoo, so I just want to think they decided for this song cause it represents them, not what the general public wants and I like that mindset. Also, I have the feeling they will promote Ponzoña with the intro or/and maybe skip skip that also have a choreo and is accepted for broadcasting; that would be a smart move taking into account all those are different on sound and style. Anyway, this is just the beginning, the first day, the song got 70 place real time on bugs and sold 7156 albums, can't wait to see their first stage at korean music shows!
Yeah, no, you totally spoke my mind! I guess we get really hypercritical simply because we absolutely LOVE these girls, and want nothing but the. best. for them! This song is fire, and definitely a song you could put on repeat, but it doesn't drop as hard or as upbeat as MOST title tracks that have such a dark concept... Funnily enough, Skip Skip sounded more like a kpop title track when I first heard it. and I can't help but draw similarities with the whole Aya & Dinga situation last year... Aya and Ponzona are both much more cooler and unique musically and concept-wise, but they're also the risky options! I don't know how the song is gonna perform, but I love it! So I hope others will too. Oh, and remember to listen to MHSAB on the album listen! We've got a surprise~ 💜💜
Someone please tell me if I'm being a total clown of myself, but the Greek mythology references are insane! JI EUN - Leuce, daughter of Oceanus, a beautiful nymph Hades abducted to the underworld. GO EUN - Medea, granddaughter of Helios, abandoned by her husband Jason and seeked revenge with her powerful magic. DOSIE - Medusa, her hair was turned into living venomous snakes upon Athena's curse, those who gazed into her eyes would turn to stone. IREH - Andromeda, the princess of Aethiopia, who were chained to a rock as a sacrifice to sate the sea monster sent by Poseidon. YUKI - Aphrodite, goddess of love. When morning the death of her lover Adonis, her tears dropped on the soil were turned into Grecian windflower. CHAEIN - Athena, goddess of war, the protector of Athens. SWAN - Arachne, a talented mortal in weaving, who was turned into a spider by Athena.
I really appreciate your honesty. I actually only just found your channel recently, and your honest and thoughtful opinions were one of the key things that made me subscribe and become a Patron straight away 👍 I'm in love with the song, but I absolutely agree with your thoughts about the line distribution. I was actually happy with the amount of lines that Go Eun and Chaein got, but I really really wanted to hear more from Dosie, Ireh and Jieun. I'm glad that they have more lines on the b-sides, but it would have been nice to see a more equal distribution on the debut track.
Yeah, my opinion is the same like yours. I love the song, but some how lines distribution bother me, but screen time and dance break compensate it. And I realy hoped to hear more from others, but to have Go Eun and Swan... I understand why they put spot light on them in title track. Well that was first impression, but hearing it already around 10 times makes me realize that this is really, really good for debut song that shows their ability and difference from others. And start to grow on me with every listening. With time i hope they will show even more their talents! 😎 Let's support Purple Kiss on full power! This is amazing debut, great mv & the album is just phenmenal for a rookie! 💖
I was bit scared of this song being the title track, but it sounds amazing and I love it, but the line distribution makes me a little bit sad, I understand why Goeun and Swan were highlighted, but I hope this won’t be regular thing in their future comebacks
I mean this is REALLY good for a debut and remember guys this is just the beginning! I have a feeling they will surprise us with their versatility just like Mamamoo did 👏🏻
I’m actually glad you were honest with this reaction. I have a lot of similar critiques. Doesn’t mean I don’t absolutely LOVE the girls. Quite the opposite. We know what they are capable of at this point so of course we want the debut to reflect the power and talent they are bringing to the table. Still a great song and I’m excited that we can officially call them idols!
You are entitled to your opinion if people don't like it then it's their problem, also your mum throwing rocks at your window is hilarious 😆. Love the reaction and your honesty, here for that 🙌 loving the song
thank you for voicing your opinions! it's very refreshing to hear a different reaction. i also had the similar thoughts after watching the mv. as much as i love the girls, the debut song didn't really live up to the hype and the line distribution wasn't that fair. that being said, i can understand why this was the title track since it's so unique and has that rbw flair which helps the group stand out among all the new rookie groups. excited to hear more of the girls' beautiful voices on the album now :)
I really really REALLY like this debut. Like, we got MHSAB with that badass rock sound we all love, then CWTA came and it was a sensual r&b kinda vibe, amazing vocals and raps. STUNNING VISUALS. Now, Ponzoña sounds sooooo different from those pre-debut songs and I'm amazed with their versatility. This type of genre suits them well just like the other ones before. No kidding, this gg will rise high and can't wait to see and hear more from them cause they are talented af! Conclusion: STAN PURPLE KISS 💜
I am delighted that you are also a fan of PURPLE KISS. I adore the talent of this beautiful group of women. I understand and agree with what you mention regarding the power of the theme to be a release. Reviewing other channels where they have been invited, I feel calm knowing that they are all talented and not just fillers, as is customary. Still, my soul feels happy to listen to Go Eun, Swan and Ireh who are my favorites from the start. Nothing like another female rookie band, and I greatly appreciate that. ;)
I was expecting to just be “okay” with this song as it sounded good but too familiar at the start. But it ended up having some unique elements I really dig, plus the mv has a few memorable moments, and most importantly, everyone in this group has very quickly improved their [stage] presence. I’m genuinely VERY impressed. I bet most people who learn about PK through this track, and then checks out CWTA will become fans. They started this year strong! I hate that songs like CWTA can’t typically be successful as debut or comeback tracks. There seems to be an established standard that prevents people from “getting” hyped over a less flashy track. With comebacks happening 4-6 months later on average, why not be more welcoming to something different, you know? Maybe this will change some day. Some songs like this were title tracks during 2nd gen and early 3rd - however, I have no idea if they were “hits.”
me waiting on kaia’s Skip Skip showcase reaction: 👁👄👁 but I had the same thoughts regarding the line distribution, but the dance break was immaculate. Also Dosie can step on me any day, stan purple kiss for serotonin
Even ireh cheain and dosie while not having as many lines had a lot of center time/dance moments but jieun deserved a little more spotlight in her debut
It for me was on of those songs that grow on you. Like I was unsure about it on the first listen. But it kept getting better each time I listened to it. Kinda like (for me) Mamamoo's AYA.
I thought the debut was absolutely amazing and one of my favorites I’ve ever seen. I loved everything about it. Now I usually just rave about Goeun here because she’s my bias and she’s amazing in every way, and this was no exception. So I’ll take some time to call out the other girls: Swan already has one of the best voices in the industry at such a young age, I can imagine her improving over time. Chaein is such a good singer and presence, I feel like she’s destined to be under appreciated but loved (like Jeongyeon in Twice). Dosie is someone you can’t take your eyes off of, she’s such a magnetic performer. Ji Eun is someone who hasn’t gotten much time to shine but honestly I think she crushed her short parts here and really stood out to me. Yuki always just completely takes over a song when she raps. Ireh is cute, but she is so powerful when she performs. They’re all so amazing and this first album immediately makes them one of my favorite groups. I think Ponzana feels to me the most like a title track, but I love them all.
Same sentiments as you on first listen. I thought that the song is good, actually everything is good. And that is the problem. It is only good. I thought to myself that this song is underwhelming as a debut song. And then I listened to it again, and then again, and again, and it is now in repeat. Now after listening to it multiple times, this song hits hard! Its a homerun debut song IMO. It just grows on you. Especially the chorus. I think this song displays what purple kiss really is as a group. I also tried to listen to GG that debut this year (Pi**, Tr***, Ma****) . They also hit hard! Really good debut for those girls! Kudos to them really! But I don't know, this song by purple kiss is like the single equalizer for all those songs. It just calms everything with maturity, stage presence, angst, sexiness etc. It is like Purple Kiss is saying we do not need a hard rocking, eye popping, super groovy / catchy melodic verses. We will hit you hard in a subtle way. That is how I am feeling after listening to this song multiple times. I totally agree with you, the song on first listen is so-so as a debut song. Listen to it multiple times and it grows exponentially on you. Well in my case, that is hahaha.
Agree that this song might be underwhelming for some people, especially those who's been following their predebut journey. But yeah I think this song really showcases every member charms, might help with live stages when every member is doing what's their most confident on doing as well. Also heard Swan made this song for monthly evaluation when they're still trainee, so might be really meaningful for the group to debut with this song. IN CONCLUSION: I'M IN TEARS AND SO PROUD THEY'RE FINALLY DEBUTING T.T
Dont worry about it. Just wanna say something. Swan,Goeun and Yuki wrote and composed this song 2 years ago and its crazy that they chose this song as their debut track. They were so happy about it. And dont forget that pk debuted so late its because Swan was on hiatus.
I actually agree with you on the line distribution thing. I am a little sad about it, but I hope that in future comebacks they'll be able to change that.
I'm the same as you. I've never followed a group pre-debut, but damn... Purple Kiss are special. These girls are insanely talented and likable and they deserve all the love in the world. I have mixed feelings about the song as well because on one hand I'm obsessed with it and I think it's a masterpiece, but on the other hand I'm not sure about its potential for commercial success... I don't know, I guess we'll see what happens. AND YES, DOSIE FUTURE IT GIRL, INDEED.
Not gonna lie, but this song got the same feel like Oneus' TBONTB. Coming from CBH, TBONTB really felt as if it was underwhelming. Plus I thought the song twisted my guesses every-darn-time, making me feel challenged to know it better. But since I was such a lazy carbon-footprint I gave up and decided that I wasn't diggin it that much at first. Then I forced myself to listen to it once again, AND MAN, THAT SONG IS MY SPOTIFY'S 2020 SONG OF THE YEAR. And now I'm experiencing the same journey with Ponzona :')
Totally respect your opinions and appreciate your honesty. I personally love ponzona being the title track of the album. You know imo sometimes title track not always needs to be the best song on the album for me but rather I've seen it as being the "what the group want to be seen as" or to kinda show different sides of their versatility, etc (you know what I mean). (Btw just to be clear it's not directly towards you, I hope there's no misunderstanding here). Regarding the line distribution, well... I know that there are many people out there that love being highly over-analytical when it comes to line distribution and became irritated if one member has more/less line than the other members. Me personally, I really don't care too much about any of that at all. And if I'm being honest here, line distribution is like the last thing that I'd probably look into. As long as the song sounds good to my ears then it's totally fine by me. Tbh I just want to enjoy listening to their music and make myself happy without having to worry too much and get myself stressed over such line distributions. Overall "Into Violet" is such a great debut album, I really love and vibing with all the tracks on the album.
In this specific case, I agree with you; this may not have been the best song to launch the group. For those of us who've been following them, this is a very nice tune. However, for people coming in cold, this may not grab them nearly as hard. I will say that the MV is fire. From a more general point of view, I don't think reactors should be uncritical fans. If something jumps out, it should be said. Pure promotion is RBW's job, not yours. I also agree with line distribution issues and it's been noticeable for a while. RBW knows what to do with Swan and Na Go Eun and their voices. Yuki, Ireh, & Chaein have their set roles, so it's fairly smooth there. However, the company does seem to have some problems figuring out how to fit Dosie and Park Jieun in. Dosie knows full well how she should fit in and she'll calmly use crayons to explain it if she has to. The woman can hustle. However, Park is going to have to develop some elbows or she's going to fade into the back. And that would be a shame.
I thought the same as you I liked so much much the debut but I prefer the predebut songs Bc they slapped haard. And also I wanted more ireh Chaein and jiung vocals and center and screen time
As someone who hasn’t followed them super closely predebut, I was really impressed with this. The track is awesome, the dancing and charisma are amazing, and there are a lot of really strong unique vocal colors here. Also I guess line distribution doesn’t bother me much after having a LOT of biases who were rarely anywhere near the top lmao. P.S. I’M SO HAPPY GOEUN IS FINALLY DEBUTING
Ngl I literally ask my friend to watch purple kiss' ponzoña because I want to know other people's reaction who didn't follow them pre-debut because for me it takes a few times to listen before I fully vibe with it since the chorus part is spoiled 7 months ago. My friend really love it!! Which I'm happy about^^ and yes after a few more listen I totally vibe with it. Purple Kiss is ROTY for me, they put the bar high up for being a rookie. No worries about your opinion because that's how you really feel and people need to accept that. I really like people who doesn't sugarcoat their reaction because us fans need to practice our mindset that our opinion doesn't match with other^^ thank you for your reaction!! I really love it
Thank you for your honesty, really appreciate it and I love your insight. Well okay here's my two cents regarding the line distributions issue. *Disclaimer*: this statement of mine is not directly towards you tho but it's for some people/fans in general. I've seen that many people complained quite a lot about line distributions, it seems like (at least from my perspective) that fans nowadays are becoming more and more obsessive with the line distributions. Not specifically towards Purple Kiss per se but also more for the other kpop groups as well. Like yeah I know where they're coming from but again for some people out there, it seems to me that they make these line distribution becoming their top priority when it comes to a song, to the point where sometimes they couldn't seem to enjoy the song anymore just because they're way focusing too much of their attention to that aspect only. I just want to be real honest here, I personally don't take the line distributions aspect into so much considerations when it comes to kpop in general, it's probably like in my bottom priority tbh. It's such a simple rule for me: If the song is good then it's good and it never becomes my real main issue. Just like with the (G)I-DLE - Hwaa's case before where I've seen many fans complained a lot and hated that song just because of the "unfair" line distributions while completely ignoring the beauty of that song itself in the whole aspect production. I mean that song was absolutely fire yet people complained a lot about such trivial matter and making that as their top priority. I mean I came into a kpop for their music not because I wanted to become some sort of line distributions judge or someone that will get really upset over something like that.
Just in case you didn't know, apparently this song was written during their trainee days as an evaluation song. It just makes me happy that this ended up being their title track, as i'm sure it meant a lot to them. Love the reaction by the way!
I think they will promote intro, ponzoña and skip skip all together since is the order they did in the showcase and I think it will be cool. I’m so excited to see them in music shows (?) but yeah
I really understand you very much. This my personal thought, I feels like the song can go faster, I think some part are maybe too slow. It feels it nearly hit, but when it come it slightly my reaction was what!. But still i love them. Chaein reminds me of Rośe BLACKPINK I hope she receive more line. I think the fact that they still keep this song as their debut is the lyrics represent them, they repeat "Purple kiss" many times so suit the fact that it was it was a debut song. Oh and 'My heart Skip a beat' new version actually include SWAN.
I do understand your complaints. I feel like I can agree with them to an extent but at the same time after following them for more than 2 years I feel like having an unbiased opinion is beyond me😭😭 My excitement and happiness is overshadowing everything else
i think the reason it had a less big impact on people who knew them already is because we heard so much of the song already. it’s still a bop, but i hoped for something completely new as the debut song
I think I agreed with you’re idea of the song not being right for the title track when the highlight medley came out, however, for me after hearing the whole song I do think that it is the perfect title track. I can understand why some people might be underwhelmed by it. On another note the bsides are amazing and I think this might be my album of the year so far. It’s a close tie between this and dreamcatcher’s dystopia: road to utopia
I really enjoyed the song and MV, but it honestly is my least favorite song on the album, but that's mainly because I love the other songs so much. I'm excited to watch your album reaction on Patreon, I think you're going to love it!
There are only one or two groups where a bias has jumped out right away for me, the major one being BTS Jimin who dragged me into kpop as a whole and didn't let me even consider another member, and that finally happened again the first time I saw My Heart Skip A Beat with Chaein, so I have a feeling this is going to be a very special group for me. I'm so, so glad they finally debuted!
i like that you give an honest reaction if not the times you really complement something it would not mean anything. and i agree with you and i love the song to. my favouritte song is my heart skip a beat but that is probebly because i want more rock i kpop i like all of their songs so far though
I don't think you need to apologize for your opinions, especially when it's both right and comes from a place of love. Obviously we all obsessed with the girls and are excited to go on this new adventure with them, but we shouldn't put blinders on. If we want PURPLE KISS to blow up, they have to grow... and they won't know how to if all they get is empty praise. So yeah, PONZONA is a great song, but not their best, and I agree that they need to be careful overplaying the Swan card. These aren't bad things to say, just constructive criticism.
I'm new to the group, I didn't see too much of the predebut content although I heard a bit about them. This debut is really good, I totally agree, and I really like the MV and the song. I think my only thing would be that I expected a harder drop or something somewhere and it never really came. I think it was just something about the build up to the chorus that left me anticipating it. I still like the song though.
Love the song as a foray into their universe, the dark concept really suits them and I love how indicative it is of the growing trend (read Purple Kiss, Pixy, and single forays such as mv's from Nature, Gfriend, Greyish, etc.) that really cultivate the work of groups like Vixx and Dreamcatcher as an attractive modern style. Definitely could've used alot more Chaein.
I’m agree that their line distribution is quite not fair...... but I just didn’t want to mention agn but just support them fully cause I don’t see many people complaining about it. I just hope the producer really work on the fair line distribution in the future as their sunbaenim like mamamoo and oneus did well to distribute lines. Thus, they always mention about how they train pk individually talented and wants the world to recognise each member’s colour. If they don’t work on that, I don’t think this is what they want to show and what kind of artists they want to debut. Still pity my bias ireh for getting only one line, I just dont want people to think she’s the position of performer. Btw, I love purple kiss since predebut also💓
i think they will find there why like mmm they have 3 vocals and they found there way to the point where moonbyul takes over songs that took 4 years. a lot of groups still to this day have that problem. i feel if your going give someone a little bit a line give them screen time. i think that’s fare. but skip skip seem like the second song they will promote and the people you talked about seem to have way more lines there.
I love the MV. There is so much going on that puzzles me. One thing I'm trying to fit into the story line here is ... I think it's Na Goen on her knees pierced by arrows in front of Chaein. Is that taking over the coven or what? Also the lace drops over Jieun and then the blood is poured onto the lace. In the scene where they are surrounding the Devil she's the only one not visible. Is she transformed?
I can fully understand you, love the song, the production but it miss something... some power for these powerful little women! But its a great debut song i really love it! (Sry for my bad english ^^)
I will admit, I think this as a debut track is pretty tame, it's not mind-blowing. But I think that if you take it as a package with their pre-debut releases too, then you can get a fuller sense of their abilities
This feels very RBW to me, in that they build hype and then throw everyone for a loop with the main releases lol. It does make me interested in their journey from here though so I guess it worked 🤷🏻♀️
I was a little worried going into this that I wasn't going to like it as much as the pre-debut tracks. But after 30 seconds I couldn't get the big stupid grin off my face and I think, for me it sits above "Can We Talk Again" and just below "My Heart Skip a Beat" in preference (for me CWTA's line distribution let it down and had me worried for this release and whilst not as even as I'd like it to be, this is a better IMO).
Ponzona isn't a bad song by any stretch of the imagination, but I didn't feel like it hit as hard as either My Heart Skip a Beat or Can We Talk Again, honestly. I kept waiting for it to punch me in the face and make me go "holy shit!!!" like the other two did and it just... never happened. I think it's the kinda chill tempo, somewhat sparse instrumentals, and lack of epic belted high notes that made it feel more like a high quality B-side for me. Oh well, I'm still gonna stan the bajeezus out of them and keep listening to CWTA on loop, anyway.
I'm so sad :( Both ponzona and my heart skip a beat are uploaded to spotify WITHOUT the dance breaks. The well spaced change of pace was just deleted from the song and uploaded. So the stream versions almost sound like a chorus repeats since the change of flow was removed :/ I'm just sad about this because I feel like both songs are made slightly worse without the really well produced dance breaks. I have no one irl to vent about this so I guess I will tell you all in the comment section
So i was skeptical about this being the title track, i can understand why they chose this song though, however i can say im not a fan of how long at least in the MV it took to even see or even hear from Jieun and only for a few seconds after that. They are a 7 member group MV screen time and line distribution was not great. Many other 7 member groups have wayy better line distribution and screen time even.
could u plS react to Twices NOW cover? Its a NaMoMiDa sub unit theres no performance video bc of legal reasons, but the lyric video's sound quality is a lot better i promise youll love it ;)
I agree it feels underwhelming and I'm disappointed at how little lines dosie, ireh and jieun had. Its not my fav song on the album but i understand why its the title track, hopefully it'll grow with time.
That said, I love skip skip more.
it's all good! you're great at giving constructive criticism, and the things you point out are fair I think
Your soft honesty is why I follow you in the first place haha
i noticed the line distribution as well but i think that will be a temporary thing
Personally I think reacting to Teasers is like really spoiling a book or tv show for yourself. Going in blind makes a bigger impact. I'd like to go into a debut without knowing anyone and make my judgement as objective as possible. Then I'll check out the members if I really like the song
easily one of the best debuts ive heard EVER omg 😳👏🏼
A fact
facts
Along with Valkyrie for me
True
Fun fact: Swan actually participated in writing this song!
That's why, even though I don't think it is the best song of the album(though I think it's better than the 2 pre releases) it was the best choice for their debut song
Btw, will you react to the album?
I completely agree with it being a great debut track for the like "introduction" element of it for sure!
And album reactions happen over on Patreon. Gonna be filming it in just a minute actually and I am PUMPED
Agreed, Skip Skip is fantastic. Ponzona very much feels like the "this is Purple Kiss" track, and it does that job well IMO.
That said, I often think it would get ride of a lot of the sniping from fans over line distribution if we saw more of that process at times and how and why songs are split the way they are.
i think the reason this release feels a little bit underwhelming to me personally is because there's been so much pre-debut buildup, that expectations have been set high. the track is great and unique amongst the current sound trends, but yeah, while extensive pre-debut content can be very beneficial for a group there's also that risk of an official debut not really living up to what's been demonstrated before, energy and power wise. still a great song tho lol
side note, i, too, summon tall fit demon boys in my spare time and absolutely condone the practice
First vampires, now witches, and don't forget the whole exotic universe Aya was in, rbw is obsessed with FANTASY lately! 🤴🧛🧝😈🧙♀️
I’m not a gg stan but purple kiss got me 🤚🏻
damnn they went hard with this.
The Album is a whole Bop. MY FAVOURITE IS PERIOD. IT'S JUST REALLY REALLY GREAT!
First I want to bring something about the song (taken from @ hamiswan on twitter):
"
Swan said 'Ponzona was actually an evaluation song. I didn't write it with the intention of writing a title song, I wanted to make a good song that could clearly show the color of PurpleKiss, but I feel good that it was even selected as a title song'
(may contain inaccuracies)
Link article t.co/HI9EGLCdrX
Goeun and Swan composed and wrote the title track, Yuki also wrote her rap part for the title.
"
Now, I understand all the feelings and opinions but just to be short on mine, for me this is kinda what happened with Aya - Dingga by Mamamoo, so I just want to think they decided for this song cause it represents them, not what the general public wants and I like that mindset.
You're being a clown - how did u get Aphrodite out of Yuki being a total baddie with her rap parts?
Let's support Purple Kiss on full power!
I have a feeling they will surprise us with their versatility just like Mamamoo did 👏🏻
Yeah, you have to grow from somewhere. I'd say that compared to say Mr. Ambiguous this is a much more polished debut track.
Omg I laughed so hard at your mum throwing stuffs to your window.
It's a STRONG debut and also strong vocals. Literally baby mamamoo.
this is the best debut i've heard from a girl group in a while, these girls have a bright future ahead of them!
Nothing like another female rookie band, and I greatly appreciate that. ;)
I love witches too💜especially if they are pretty like that, ohmygoshh!!
That's completely okay Kaia! We appreciate you being real and honest
You need to watch their cover of Dance Monkey on radio show.
You can find easily on Purple Subs channel...
The vocals are astonishing...
me waiting on kaia’s Skip Skip showcase reaction: 👁👄👁
but I had the same thoughts regarding the line distribution, but the dance break was immaculate.
I smell something....... ROTY!!! 🧡
I thought the debut was absolutely amazing and one of my favorites I’ve ever seen. I loved everything about it. Now I usually just rave about Goeun here because she’s my bias and she’s amazing in every way, and this was no exception. So I’ll take some time to call out the other girls:
Swan already has one of the best voices in the industry at such a young age, I can imagine her improving over time.
If Swan was involved in writing this at her age, I am really impressed. I'd be interested to see if she is in the writing/composing credits.
For me, I was so happy and super excited about this debut. Their song, MV, live performance, and other songs from the album were SUPER COOL.
Please please check out the "Skip Skip" live showcase stage! It was fantastic
Debut of the year!
Red + Blue = Purple only the one who gets it gets it...
And that would be a shame.
same, i like can we talk again the song more
i was really waiting for ur reaction 💜
I thought the same as you
I liked so much much the debut but I prefer the predebut songs
Bc they slapped haard.
Has a bit of some dreamcatcher flavor to it 😁
Just in case you didn't know, apparently this song was written during their trainee days as an evaluation song.
I think the fact that they still keep this song as their debut is the lyrics represent them, they repeat
"Purple kiss" many times so suit the fact that it was it was a debut song. Oh and 'My heart Skip a beat' new version actually include SWAN.
I do understand your complaints. I feel like I can agree with them to an extent but at the same time after following them for more than 2 years I feel like having an unbiased opinion is beyond me😭😭
My excitement and happiness is overshadowing everything else
I actually really appreciate your opinions!
i think the reason it had a less big impact on people who knew them already is because we heard so much of the song already. it’s still a bop, but i hoped for something completely new as the debut song
Woaah, I'm excited 🤩
Please take a look at Swan and Na Go Eun of Purple Kiss Cover 'Goodbye by Wheein'
Their vocals are insane.
Thanks a lot! ✨✨
It was Purple Kiss all along 😉
I feel like I would've liked this song a lot more, or at least had a better reaction to it, had I not heard it already in the pre debut trailer.
18:46 I *felt* that
I love the MV.
I agree I also love can we talk again.
While I think they hit PONZONA hard, the best new song on INTO VIOLET, I think, is SKIP SKIP.
Also... Yuki is slaying me.
The name of the video is literally purplekiss
I'm so sad :( Both ponzona and my heart skip a beat are uploaded to spotify WITHOUT the dance breaks. The well spaced change of pace was just deleted from the song and uploaded. So the stream versions almost sound like a chorus repeats since the change of flow was removed :/
I'm just sad about this because I feel like both songs are made slightly worse without the really well produced dance breaks. I have no one irl to vent about this so I guess I will tell you all in the comment section
Yuki's rap reminds me a less punchy/attitude version of Soyeon
Watch their first guesting in 1thek prison
So i was skeptical about this being the title track, i can understand why they chose this song though, however i can say im not a fan of how long at least in the MV it took to even see or even hear from Jieun and only for a few seconds after that. They are a 7 member group MV screen time and line distribution was not great. Many other 7 member groups have wayy better line distribution and screen time even.

I agree it feels underwhelming and I'm disappointed at how little lines dosie, ireh and jieun had. Its not my fav song on the album but i understand why its the title track, hopefully it'll grow with time.
