The MSI 8 AI+ is actually a bought design from a chinese boutique manufacturer. It was the manufacturer's '8th' version of their handheld. I am surprised they did not drop the number but just makes it even more obvious. Also FYI that handheld is actually already sold by said chinese company so if you want to know how it will perform (minus any MSI software) you can buy it now.
You won't be disappointed. Skull & Co and DBrand are shipping the grip cases now soon too. It's a beautiful device. Vibration is bugged for many, but it seems to be software related. So it should be patched if it happens.
i love my legion go but my next target it the msi raider Ge 78HX. id maxed out on using legion go first for atleast 6 yrs before i buy any upgraded device
This Rog Ally X exceeds everything that was on my list! I mean the battery life is the best I've ever seen in handheld..& the system is a beast..it's almost having a Ps5 in your hands.Sheesh.
After all the poor reviews, I never considered the MSI Claw. A local store had it on 40% discount so I took the plunge, and I'm loving it. The ARC has gotten a lot of updates apparently since launch and there isn't a game I've not been able to play at solid frame rates thus far. Really interested to see what the Claw 2 can do and just hoping Intel can get their driver's sorted for launch
I was playing Destiny 2 on my Ally X and later in the day when I was thinking of the gameplay I forgot that I had played it on such a smaller screen compared to my TV.
The only specs that would be more competitive to the Ally X are to have as follows: 80WHR battery AMD APU with more than 12 CUs (Possible the Z2 Extreme) 24 to 32GB of memory minimum or more Possibly 2TB of storage All other specs are pretty close to being where handhelds need to be as it stands right now.
I think if any device is going to beat the Ally x it will have to be the Ally 2. ASUS are producing the best handhelds atm. If you’re looking for a handheld pc that can do the big AAA games like COD, just get the Ally x as I feel it’s good enough that you won’t need to upgrade in the next gen, you can wait for Ally 2 but the Ally x already runs everything you’d want to play.
Apart from battery and oled but in real life the screen looks amazing and the battery is the biggest in the market and is genuinely usable away from the socket.
If you guys dont know, which i doubt many people will know, the Acer Nitro Blaze 7, actually is a rebranded Terrans Force Handle 7. Terrans Force made the Handle 5 as the cheaper version, and were going to release this "Acer" model as the Handle 7, but Acer went and bought it from them and branded it as theirs
@@erwiny97 considering the very bad actual claw Bad performances on handled from intel, Even the « tests » based on few games and specific optimisation, And the horrible move from MSI for their customers I have 0 faith in the Claw 8 AI+ It’s only facts
Ya totally agree; making a handheld pc is so difficult, especially for a brand that just started. Every brand has its hardware mix, but when it uses windows os, 3rd software needs to be so mature, or everything becomes messy; it takes a lot of time to optimize it, and it will be difficult to become like Asus Armoury crate.
@potato_barbeque2082 That's exactly why I'm waiting for the MSI 8+ AI ( stupid name). They have been doing updates and tuning their software. The main thing holding the Claw 7 back is the chip.
I hope more people see that, it almost cheapens the idea of it in my opinion. I like more competition, it could make manufacturers try harder but cone on...
Yeah I watched that video last week. And it made me think less of Acer for that. Instead producing their own device they just bought something off the shelf, just to be able to rush to market. If that device cost more than $600, it's gonna fail.
Ally X for the win. The Msi is a contender but at this point it's just a incremental update, nothing generational. I'm waiting for next year to see the Ally 2 and Steam Deck 2. At this point the market can only bare a few competitors. For me it's Valve, Asus, and the 3 spot is up for grabs.
The Rog Ally X, blows my Steam Deck away. Finally I can play AAA games, with better settings and performance. I also prefer the placements of the sticks and D-pad. Sure the OLED on the Deck is nice, but I gladly trade that, for the higher res and VRR screen, on the Ally X. And dual booting, with Bazzite, makes it the ultimate handheld for me, at the moment. Though, I still think the Steam Deck, delivers great bang for the buck, if you are fine with the lower performance. The LCD models are dirt cheap now, in the Steam store.
Lets be honest, nothing compares to the ally x. Everything is an og ally competitor til next year and the next chips. In my eyes, no one will make an ally x killer or full competitor with the current chips, or in this current year
I sold my steam deck Oled , no need with 4tb ssd and dual boot bazzite/windows on ally x. One device to rule them all. Haha 🤣 the steam deck is an amazing device but I only need one.
I really want MSi to win, they were the joke of handhelds (the flaw) bit disappointing. and considering it’s base price! But ASUS and Valve ain’t going no where! they paved the way in the mainstream (no offense Aya) PC handhelds are the future!
Slight differences in the hardware are all good and well, but the real improvement that needs to be made is in the OS - preferably some form of Xbox OS (heavily stripped-down version of Windows designed specifically for gaming) and not just a new handheld mode in Windows with all the bloat retained
If it’s cheaper than the ally x, like steam deck price. I’d buy it. I’m not too worried about the 16gb of ram, I’ll probably put tiny11 os on so the ram usage is minimal
Nope. Steam Deck and Legion Go are the only competitors for the Ally X. Everyone else are just copy of paste windows handhelds that wish they were the Ally X. Next year handhelds have to blow our minds.
Well if the Strix CPU's end up being as good as the rumors are, they should be some pretty powerful devices. Hopefully they bump the GPU performance substantially and give it more RAM. At the very least we're in for a few interesting years with developments.
Will there be something as good, if not a little better than the X soon? It’s probable. Doesn’t mean the X will be obsolete. Battery is what holds back all these devices, so I don’t see the X being “outdated” for quite a while. Still waiting for technology to evolve before any major jumps can occur.

Your answers are entertaining 😂 honestly, I don't plan on buying a new pc every 2 years. I actually buy a new terminal every 6 to 8 years because tech is bloody expensive.
