A very interesting video that doubles as a comparative case study of how two characters diverge on how to deal with the cards they were dealt. Subscribed.
I like how this feels like both characters are debating on their ideals of freedom, with Eren claiming the only way he can be free is if he kills his enemies and Thorfinn claiming he has no enemies and then Eren talks over Thorfinn, it's so in character and it works perfectly! I can imagine this would happen if they ever interacted.

Both of them are slave of their own ideals. Just because both of them hold a power and ability to attract people, every action of them will impacting others.
Haha, that would’ve been a fun plot twist ( ´∀`) Imagine if Eren had had someone to teach him about non-violence, like Thorfinn had. Instead Eren got stuck in this violent mindset… Thank you! Will do 🫡
I don’t know the different futures Eren saw, but seeing the power he now possesses, I believe there must have been one more peaceful route. One that doesn’t sacrifice all Eldians and not all of the world - perhaps a midway point. I think that Eren is aiming to fulfill more than securing the lives of the people on Paradis. I haven’t read the manga, but I assume he is striving to break the curse of Ymir to save the future world and that this is the only way for him to do that. But I have no clue; like I said, I never saw the possible futures Eren chose from nor have I read the manga. So I’m excited to find out! :)
@@CasualBlueLemonEren saw one immuable future, he can’t change it the thematic of his character it’s not about ennemies or freedom but about slavery to his desire of freedom because he will never achieve it. So, compare him to Thorffin it’s great when it’s about the dynamics of their (ennemies) Marley and the world and for Thorffin it is all the Vikings World who is not according with his « I have no ennemies »
I feel like the difference between the two can be compacted into Thorfinn's line: "As long as I have somewhere to run, I will not fight." He always has somewhere to run. Across the sea to Iceland or across the whole ocean to Vinland. And until those places are no longer safe, he will not fight. Thorfinn threw himself into combat and the cycle of violence and hatred for personal goals. Then, he realized that it isn't the way to live. Thus, he left it by choice; just as he joined it by choice. Eren, on the other hand, had no choice. He was born on an island where he was essentially made a slave from birth. And the people enslaving him and wanting to kill his people were those across the ocean. There was nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. At least, if he wished to protect his friends and his home. From the virtue of being born, Eren didn't have freedom. He lacked freedom to choose, freedom to run, and the freedom to live. Which can be compacted in the line "To gain my own freedom, I will take the world's freedom." I think the AOT ending song 'Akuma no Ko' can represent this well. "If we had wings like birds, we could go anywhere we wanted to. But if we don't have a home to return to, I'm sure we can't go anywhere at all." Basically summarizing Eren's struggle with having nowhere to run and being caged in. Also showing why he does the Rumbling; he's like a bird stuck in a cage because if he tries to run, his home will be destroyed by the people across the ocean meaning everyone he knows and cares for on the island will be killed. Overall, I feel like that ending does a great job at capturing not only Eren's mentality, but also Eren's situation. Definitely check out the translated lyrics if you have the time. In short, for Thorfinn, renouncing violence gains him freedom from his self imposed chains. For Eren, renouncing violence would remove his freedom and chain him completely. Two similar characters with the same internal struggle (to break the cycle of hate or continue to perpetrate it,) but two wildly different situations influencing the outcome of their choices.
This is a great in-depth analysis! Thank you for sharing it :) I will make sure to read the lyrics of Akuma No Ko next time I listen to it - I like the song, but I haven’t analysed it further than the title. It’s a great song ^_^
Thank you 🙌 many people missed that important detail, that line is what set them apart and make them oppositions. One had a place to escape to, while the other did not.
Two sides of the same coin. Both want peace and freedom but both are tasked in different situations to attain that peace. Thorfinn is not held down by fate and have the responsibility of of the world and his own people. He can run as far has he can from the grasps of war in Europe to create his own land of peace and freedom for this who want to follow. Eren is tragically forced by fate as he sees and outcome that forever can’t be changed not because it’s already set in stone, but because of the human nature of wanting to live and protect those you care about and love. After trying everything in his power change the future by trying to talk to the enemy, and the enemy refusing to compromise and understand the eldian people of paradisse he is forced to destroy the world around him in order to protect his home, his people, and his freedom. One side of the coin(thorfinn) has the freedom to seek his own peace and create a land free of war, while the other side of the coin(Eren) is forced by fate and his own enemies to fight to the bitter and brutal end. They are both the same yet view the path to peace and freedom differently.
All your videos are criminally underrated and deserve so many more views. All your edits are absolutely superb and gloriously in sync with the music and the various quotes in both anime. Gives me chills!
Amazing man...both are my favourite characters....both of them had the similar starting.... their parents died infront of them...both wanted Revenge...at one point...thorfinn realised he is wrong and found his way for peace...but eren only had more and more enemies and nowhere to run...eren is a thorfinn who never got a chance or guidance to attain peace
Both begin in the same way Both losing one of their parents, both filled with vengeance, both promising to kill their enemies, both becoming killing Machine But then? As stated in yet another comment, when they grew up both realised they have one goal in common, acheive peace for their loved ones. However the intriguing fact is the different path they choose. Eren became the embodiment of revenge and Thorfinn became the embodiment of peace. Ultimately one ended up achieving his goal. Let's wait for the manga of Vinland saga to end and see what happens with Thorfinn.
Thank you for taking your time to write this comment! I’m also really excited for the continuation of Vinland Saga - but also the ending of Attack on Titan. Haven’t read either manga, so I have lots to look forward to :)
I like that Eren saying fight has double meaning in this video, for Eren it literally means to fight for his people's freedom but for Thorfinn it means to push past his depression, it's perfect!
Somehow it ended up like that. When I think about Thorfinn's past, he was killing quite senselessly to get closer to Askeladd while Eren always had a purpose in mind. Not sure if it's relevant but those are some crazy journeys.
I find this video really interesting, Eren and Thorfinn are 2 sides of the same medal, and I don't say the younger version of Thorfinn but the "matured" Thorfinn with Eren. Let's keep aside the final of AoT for a moment. They live in 2 differents contexts but they do the same exactly thing, it's wrong to say that eren is guided by hate, he isn't, he fights in order to achieve peace and liberty of his own people that are discriminated by everyone, as like Thorfinn dislike the use of sword even in the most extreme ways Eren doesn't use riformistic methods because they would be useless.
A qoute for Thorfinn "I was never angry. I was sad because you lost your way. I did. But you found it again. And you did it by youreself!" Iroh to Zuko (from Avatar)

This video is a masterpiece, hope it blows up!
Thank you! :D
Do you think Thorfinn could convince Eren not to do the rumbling?
@@CasualBlueLemon Lots of people mentioned Thorfinn’s pacifism wouldn’t work in Attack On Titan considering Eren’s position. But I guess he could convince Eren to do a small scale rumbling
Just imagine that opening 😭 Tiny rumbling rumbling. Break free. Coming for (some of) you.
Best editing I have ever seen on this two anime. And adding symbolic text make it perfect!
I’m flattered! Also it makes me happy that you liked the text :)
Underrated asf
Genuinely an incredibly well put together video, glad I happened to come across it!
Thank you! I’m glad you found your way here :)
Lets all try to be like Thorfinn, no, we must be like him.
This was beautiful man. Great work.
Thank you! Glad you liked it :)

Your comment went straight into my heart. I’m honored ♡u♡
Amazing parrallel.
Great video, deserve more views
Thank you! I’m glad to hear that :)
Great job with this, these are my two fave animes and they really do have a lot in common whilst being almost completely opposite.
Mappa did a fantastic job with season 4 AoT and Vinland.
You earned my Subscription today buddy. Thanks.
I’m glad you liked it! These animes are amazing - they are easily my favorite ones, too.
Thank you so much for the subscription! I’ll do my best to continue making videos you like :)
This video fantastically shows similarities in Thorfin's and Eren's starting points and differences in paths they've decided to walk. Great job! 👍
Glad you liked it! Thanks for leaving this comment :D
this video will blow up someday, its too good xD
Thank you! I’m happy you liked my edit :D
My bro Eren missed his daily dose of Vinland 😂

What an amazing video pointing out the parallels between two seemingly unrelated characters, looking forward to your work in the future
Thank you! I hope to see you in the comment section of my future videos :D
best editor no cap
Wow! I just love your editing and your ability to capture the essence of shows. Great choice of music too! Your videos keep getting better, even though the previous ones are already so well made. Pleasure to watch your content!
Great showcase of the parallels and where the two stories / characters part ways.
Thank you so much! I was uncertain about the music, so I’m happy to hear it was a good choice. I always appreciate you watching my videos and commenting. It makes me so happy to see that you continue liking what I do. So thank you for sticking around for so long :D
Underrated video
easily one of the best AMV EVER. beautiful contrast
Best video ever 😳😳
Thank you so much (〃ω〃)
Peak edit
Thank you! :)
Both of them are slave of their own ideals. Just because both of them hold a power and ability to attract people, every action of them will impacting others.
Too bad Eren didn’t read Vinland Saga :( So many lives could have been saved.
Great editing and transitions as always. Keep making these please 🙏
Haha, that would’ve been a fun plot twist ( ´∀`)
Imagine if Eren had had someone to teach him about non-violence, like Thorfinn had. Instead Eren got stuck in this violent mindset…
Thank you! Will do 🫡
@@CasualBlueLemon i really dont think eren of all people would spare himself from having enemies, hes stronger then that.
@@CasualBlueLemon you can't really pact with your enemies in world of Aot.
I feel like the difference between the two can be compacted into Thorfinn's line: "As long as I have somewhere to run, I will not fight."
He always has somewhere to run.
Which can be compacted in the line "To gain my own freedom, I will take the world's freedom."
I think the AOT ending song 'Akuma no Ko' can represent this well.
Thank you for sharing it :)
I will make sure to read the lyrics of Akuma No Ko next time I listen to it - I like the song, but I haven’t analysed it further than the title.
They are both the same yet view the path to peace and freedom differently.
ah yes the two legendary animes in one edit
I’m not sure if I’m blessed or cursed that these two animes were among the first I watched. Such a good introduction, but now the bar is high haha
fun fact i watched them both at same time vinland at morning and aot at night like months ago@@CasualBlueLemon
@vahele9248 that’s the best combo I’ve ever heard of
@@CasualBlueLemonvery bad choice . Things are only in downside from here except few
AMV creator understood the assignment. Crazy how this only has alittle over 100 views right now. This deserves to blow up.
Haha, thank you! Only time will tell, but reading your comment made the wait bearable :)
WOW
amazing work fr!
Thank you! :D
Thorfinn: “I have no enemies.”
Eren: “I have no enemies… left.”
Interesting as hellllllllllll i love it
Thank you! :D
What a piece of art, I keep coming back to rewatch, what an absolute treat :)
Thank you, Hans! Always nice reading your comments
Amazing edit!
I don't want to be that guy, but I believe there's a typo at 4:04. Amazing video still!
Nooooooo (T_T) I’m going to quadruple check the text on my next edit now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Also, I’m glad you liked my edit! :)
@@CasualBlueLemon don't worry about it, it's a small mistake too, don't beat yourself over it
Thank you for telling me though. It will help me look for those kinds of typos in the future ^ ^
3:32 this shows how diff they both have become like they started the same but one found peace in himself while the other in his stupid ideology.
My two best anime in one video 🫡🔥🫠
Same here!
Another treasure has been created..
Thank you (〃ω〃)
Bro this video is gonna be celebrated in the future too
Glad you think so :D
MANNNNNNN!!!!!!. You kept giving me moree goosebumps 🫡
Both begin in the same way
Both losing one of their parents, both filled with vengeance, both promising to kill their enemies, both becoming killing Machine
But then?
@@CasualBlueLemon lol same
Eren did not acheive his goal as the island of paradis was destroyed in the future.
@@vikramo6994 When?
Is there an AOT sequel?
I like that Eren saying fight has double meaning in this video, for Eren it literally means to fight for his people's freedom but for Thorfinn it means to push past his depression, it's perfect!
Thank you! I’m glad you caught those parallels ^_^
Such a masterpiece!
insane edit ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Thank you so much! :D
This shows how much a boy need a good father figure
Or a good mother, or a good parent of any gender, really
Or a good toad that has many wisdoms@@magicfibre
This video is awesome I love it
I’m happy I could create something you loved! :)
I thought of this too when I rewatched both recently. Nice video you put together showing the parallels.
Somehow it ended up like that. When I think about Thorfinn's past, he was killing quite senselessly to get closer to Askeladd while Eren always had a purpose in mind.
Not sure if it's relevant but those are some crazy journeys.
This is done exceptionally well. If you don't mind, may I share this with a private group with a couple 100 people on FB?
Thank you! Sure, go ahead :)
Happy to hear you found my video interesting! :)
A qoute for Thorfinn
"I was never angry.
I was sad because you lost your way.
I did.
But you found it again. And you did it by youreself!"
Iroh to Zuko (from Avatar)
Eren is Canute basically (building a Paradise over bodies with diferent metods than Thorfinn)
i like to think eren is the logical conclusion to Canute's philosophy
Amazing❤
Thank you!
Bro what a great idea i have seen both anime but i don't get this idea what a goosebumps i get during the video i have a request can i make edit from your great idea edit don't worry i give you credit
Thank you! Yeah, sure thing. When you are done, please tell me - I’d love to watch it! :)
Thorfin: hard gameplay
Eran: hell plus world war 2 gameplay
AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, GALACTIC!
Eren : I will continue forward
Thorfinn : I will run away
Your point?
Thorfinn: i have no enemies
eren: left.
W edit huge W
Magnificent. Chills and goosebumps ❤
I love how Eren is willing to sacrifice peace in the chase for freedom, while thorfinn is chasing peace in the cost of freedom. Such a contrast between these two wonderful characters. Different perspectives and solutions to the same fight. Both will eventually have no enemies.
Amazing !!
Thank you!
