Kate Bush herself has said, about the meaning of this song , I was trying to say that, really, a man and a woman can't understand each other because we are a man and a woman. And if we could actually swap each other's roles, if we could actually be in each other's place for a while, I think we'd both be very surprised! And I think it would lead to a greater understanding.

This song gives me a sense of nostalgia for a time I've never had. I've never heard the loneliness and longing in my heart put into sound so accurately before. And I don't mean the lyrics, though those are good too, but that haunting synth. Just hits a part of me no other song does for some reason. Reading all these comments about the synth is kinda neat, cause I'm like yeah, I think were feeling the same thing, though we may define it differently.
Haha I love that.. 'I think we're feeling the same thing'. This song, and a handful of her other songs like 'Never be mine'.. and the chorus in 'December will be magic again' have always brought my feminine, delicate side out the most out of any other musician. I just think she defines the deepest part of a woman's soul! I'm a Capricorn and we're meant to be quite solid like or whatever, but not when I listen to music like this haha.
If you love the synth (sensuality of it) give Sarah McLachlan’s Vox and Heaven 17’s Let Me Go a listen. Not as deep as Bush, but I think you’ll like those tracks. Running Up That Hill is a great intro to New Wave Music, but I think you’ll like the dance club New Wave most because that’s where the sensuality was performed by an alt gen back in the day.

Timeless and haunting.
i wanna thank st for bringing me here
The slow, hypnotic beat really makes this song.
This song never grows old.♥️ Thankful to have heard it in 1985. 🙏🏾 #GoodOleDays 😩
When she was just starting out, someone handed a tape of Kate's early recording to a very well known musician who was impressed and took her under his wing. Who is he? Dave Gilmour. To this day, Kate is still thankful to good ol' Dave.
Take's one to know one!
Stop making fake UA-cam profiles, Dave
Stephen Stromsoe ahahahaahah
it was her brother paddy who was extremely good mates with Dave Gilmour and some of pink flyod. David Gilmour saw her potential at a mere 16 years pld with wuthering heights which she wrote after reading the book by Emily bronte and penned very quickly / have been a lifelong fan of the greatest female music artist all my life
David Gilmour is quite amazing in his own right. I am thankful for both of them.
