Great ride! Just a heads up, if you ever decide to head north to Ontario, do not try and film a video like this one. If you get caught using a handheld device while driving the fine starts at $615 but can easily go to $1000 for a first offence. Being on a bike they might even throw in a dangerous driving charge. RAM mounted cameras are your friend up here! IBA videos like this are helping me get through this LONG winter until I can get back out riding so thanks for making this one!

as for your storm ..abouth 3 years ago when riding from seattle to orlando which is 3000 miles..it rained on me for 2900 of those miles :)but I must say my rain gear is way better then yours , I never got a drop of rain on me .. I usually us the type of rain gear that crab fishermen use.. not very pretty but bright and effective :)

Wow alsome ride. Congratulations on completing it. Does riding that long hurt your back or knees? I have a 2012 RT. What windshield and engine guards do you have? How do you like the floorboards?

Thanks Charles! There’s lots of tips on LD riding on the IBA forums to advise you.
The floorboards are great because it allows you to adjust your pressure points where you need to feel support the most under the souls of a foot, which has a lot of square inch support. You can also take a standing break at 55 mph when you have a floor board. I believe my windshield is stock. As for stretching my legs out to save my knees, I put Ilium, highway pegs, on the front crash bars, which fold completely flat and out-of-the-way, stretch one leg at a time. Bar backs and any kind of Back Rest does wonders too. Don’t use a Water Bladder to drink from, it interferes with the lumbar support of a back rest. Look into AirHawk Pillows too- No Financial Interest- Yet!

Hi Charles, just a few more. I have a V-Stream Windshield which I think was stock. Besides my Air Hawk Seat Cushion, I completely forgot to mention that I have a Corbin All Day Saddle. Invisible to the naked eye are plexiglass 'hand wind deflectors' that mount on top of the side mirrors, and these keep the wind vibration from causing any wind buffeting on your hands and forearms. Do you use dedicated rain gear or a all in one suit? If so what brand? I've a couple of SS1000's in the last year and it's time to step it up. Thanks

Hi GSF, believe it or not, I had my one piece BMW Rain suit in my system case for this ride, and it never came out. The Neon Yellow Suit Top and Bottom are 'Frog Togg's TOADZ Guide Suit' for fishing, with neoprene cuffs and detachable hood, size XL. When I needed it, It was easy to darn and fit over my Sedici Textile Pants, boots on, and my BMW Motorrad Jacket. I put that suit on and took off at least 5 times over 44 hours. Never had to worry about being seen in inclement weather especially with my helmet strobe, and the reflective piping of the TOADZ suit. Another tip for what you have under those mickey mouse mirrors is to use "Handle Bar Hoods" [the kind for snow mobile usage]. Buffeting kills endurance, on the hands or anywhere. So by using 'bicycle gloves'- old style, leather palms over mesh backing, and my handlebar hoods, I can operate all of my electronics, and still keep my finger tips dry and protected from wind and debris. Having heated grips on my RT helps, especially when temps dip below 55 degrees, and in combination with rain. I didn't use a full gloves the entire trip. Get some, not that much $. (No Financial) See u out there. Jim

WOW Jim...thats' awesome...2100 miles is a long way in such a short amount of time. Quite an accomplishment. What seat do you use? Alex and I had rain like that for about 11 hours last summer. All we could do was ride, laugh and pay attention. Sorry to hear about losing your friend Harry; it was a nice dedication tribute. Be safe!

Thanks Karl, 11 hours of rain ... Almost hypnotic, isn't it? I used my cold weather hand guards the entire time, even into Savannah when the temps were 92 degrees at 1 am in the morning. My seat is a Corbin All Day, non heat. But the clincher is the Air Hawk Seat Cushion that I have on top of it: Here's the link: Airhawk Seat Cushion Airhawk Cruiser R Large 14 FACRUISERR ebay.us/o2hOJ9 You can custom fit it using an inflate and deflate method they recommend in their instructions. I guess you'll be wanting me to plan a CC50 next. Keep in touch!
