I think that might just be the G forces, if you hear people talking mid drive in rally clips they always sound like theyre straining really hard probably because the shaking makes it hard to speak.

@@Aimaiai It's so the driver can hear the co-pilot without second guessing what they're saying. We all muffle words and vowels in our regular speech, so talking this way is mainly for clarity.

No wonder KJ co-drives for so many, such clear calm note reading, they are often so hard to understand, this was a really good ride along
yeah the way he's able to dial in the notes for new drivers is a huge benefit and probably why he's able to work with so many different drivers. also helps that he's a driver himself(not all co-drivers are). but when you get into the big league stuff most of the driver/co-driver teams have been together for so long that their notes and the way they're read are very specific to those two especially when it comes down to timing, how far ahead you read the notes, what notes you repeat multiple times, etc. the real obvious one that there are plenty of videos of is Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino, any non rally driver wouldn't have a clue what Alex is saying(including me at times and i did SCCA rally for 10 years).
@@sirmonkey1985 Alex is codriving for me in our national championship push this year, and when we first got into the car together late last year I was surprised on actually how easy it is to understand his accent. With english not being alex's first language, he speaks more clearly than one would think, especially in the rally car.

Rally is by far the toughest form of raw motorsport, Rally drivers are the best drivers in the world, bar none... And they couldn't do it without a great co-driver, and this kid is an incredible Co-driver.

WOW. KJ is a helluva co driver for being so young. This man has an amazingly bright future. Very communicative and he can read both the driver and track situation. Whoever has him as a co driver is a lucky dude. KJ takes his craft seriously and it shows.
KJ seems so wholesome, felt so bad after that jump. But damn, the onboard footage has our heart racing when you're speeding through those narrow sections.

Adam will have a bunch of opportunities in Europe competing with him in DMEC, so it could happen.
Trying to remember the course on the 2nd pass is how you end up in the trees. Gotta trust what the notes say
100%, he'll get better though to where all he's doing is reacting to what KJ is saying and nothing else. you definitely see him doing it as the runs go on though.
its the drifter in him and hes new to this and slowly learning the craft.

i think a suspension seat for the codriver would have been more helpful in that situation.

We have a saying in the military... "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast" You probably feel it when drifting, just in the zone and everything slows down.
Yeah looks like it's sooooo easy to overcook the entries then it really hurts exit speeds.
The military must have stolen the saying from motorsport cause you don't wan't to be slow when it comes to shooting... Hard to shoot smooth once you've been shot. No offence intended.

Honestly I’m a big fan of rally racing. The best clips and highlights come from rally and I’m really glad you’ve gotten into it. This is the kind of racing I wanna do in terms of my main racing hobby. I wanna do all the racing but this just seems like the cream of the crop.

So this was my first rally to attend and it was a total banger! I am so glad that You and KJ are ok after that moment, it was definitely tense when you gents pulled up in the finish line area requesting medical. KJ had a huge smile on the whole time which was reassuring that he is a total beast! Cheers! can't wait to see more rally stuff from you!
KJ is very impressive based on what we see in the video, very impressed with his pace note communication, very impressed that he was able to switch from notes to track advice. Very impressed by such a young talent.

The second run on yellow course can be dangerous with the compression. The compression is how I broke my back in a bus with a bus driver who thought they could jump a bus on the way to school lol. Burst fractures in back is life altering. Here I am 31, my back has gotten worse in the 16 years since it happened. I have my days I can't really walk and have started thinking of using a cane on my bad days. Glad KJ was alright after that

You're a fuggin' monster man. The real trick is to let go of the style and lean into the speed. You're still driving a bit "pretty" of a line, delaying gas just a hair longer. It's awesome that you're already doing so great with real space for improvement with experience on dirt. Blessings and prayers to you. I've always loved your videos but this one is on another level. Like watching KB. Just watching each stage I see you improving significantly. Like I can feel a bit of the flow you're getting into with the angles. A view of your gear/rpm/speed would be SICK.

Amazing results for his first real event. Looking at the times, Adam lost 8 minutes on the stage he tried to cripple KJ and had to stop, but only finished about 5+ minutes behind the 1st place in his class. Translation... he would have won the event.
Of course he was slower than 15 year old Kira Block... but she was in a Can-Am.

Seems like there should be some kind of spinal compression safety device available. Those jumps have to be brutal. Even like a tiny bit of suspension built into the seat seems like it could go a long way

Glad you and KJ are alright. Would love to hear you talk about how/if your back problems are effecting you during rally. Rally is much more physically demanding than FD, especially on your back/spine
If you still have stalks in the car, I'd change out your windshield washer stalk button for a wheel mounted button so it's always ready at your thumb.... gotta see...but that first run looked sick, Especially the launch 😅

i love how collete has a competitive rally background and adam is finally doing it. i watched collete for so long now since she started drifting and i cant wait to see how adam handles rallying. its Sweet how they are adopting eachothers passion for the different motorsports.
They've finally come full circle on the whole "hey Adam seen your content, you should come drive rally on tv with me" from way back when.😂 ironically I discovered Collette during her stint in rally years ago. Pretty sure her last race her door came off and the car landed sideways off a ramp in a rallycross event

As you found out... it is so easy to over do jumps, can change the setup for the car to get more out of it but it compromises the rest.

A mental challenge of rally driving that nobody really talks about - there's somebody else in the car. Very hard to push the car and take risks when it's not only you paying for any mistakes.
