06. Ice Cube - Bop Gun (One Nation)

- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- Lethal Injection is the fourth studio album by California-based rapper Ice Cube. Similar to the rapper's previous albums, it was a commercial hit, debuting at #5 on the Billboard 200 with 215,000 copies sold in its first week.[8] However, it was heavily criticized for what many saw as Cube's pandering to gangsta rap, and toning down of the socio-political content found on his earlier efforts. The album's standing has increased over time. It includes the popular singles; "You Know How We Do It", and the Funkadelic-sampling "Bop Gun (One Nation)", which became a staple on MTV.

I saw Cube do this song live at the 95 Lowrider Supershow. The entire coliseum was dancing. It was an amazing day
EPIC This song could play from now till Christmas and not get old to me
I wish I was there do they still do the super lowrider shows? I wasn't around in the 90s
Glad you had a chance to see greatness
For show.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I used to play this shit for my dad, before he died., even before we knew he had cancer. We used to chill on Saturdays and Sundays, worked on fixing cars.. I played the funk for him, and he loved it. We had cool times before he died. The funk and groovy music was a part of it. God, I love this shit and all the good memories it provided. When something good came on the radio I turned it up to 11, pops would ask "what would the neighbors think" I would reply," I think the neighbors would think it was funky." God I miss pops, and I miss this music and the times.
I don't know u. But cherish those memories. Bless
Rest in peace to your father and I wish you the best. Yes, like a previous commenter wrote, cherish those memories.
yyz good honest shit thanks.
Holy shit the feels
RIP
I always liked this song. I bought the CD after HS graduation. Thought it was an unusual song by Cube. Always knew he was one of the originators of Gangster Rap but I didn't know his connection to the Nation of Islam and is a Civil Rights activists. I always felt his lyrics were unique because he clowned on others using meaningful words. It was not always about straight out tough lyrics like, "Imma bust a cap or mess u up so bad dat ur mom n pops ain't gonna rek'nize" And especially with George Clinton singing a good part. This song was weirdo but special. Never knew Cube's Activist heart until I watched "Straight Outta Compton." We ghetto thugs and hood rats are more than meets the eyes. Some of us definitely have a brain and may be more intelligent than most people think or give us credit for.
fuck islam
Baked out my car with my friends to this when it first came out…. We didn’t stop blazing till we couldn’t read the digital display on the radio 🤣 … I’m 45 and it still feels like yesterday when you close your eyes and enjoy the memories.
Wtfys I'm 50 n it does feel like yesterday, times were changing but it was some of the best times in my life
I no huh😎.
Yeah I'm 47, same shit. Still blazing and listening to this genius
I can listen to this all day.
I do sometimes
Hauhau I no huh jus sliding it back the hole dam trip.
I'm 43 and just shared this with my mom and aunt on fb.. This dropped my senior year of high school and I was blown away. The DJ can let it play and hit the 💃 floor for a few.
Ur 5 years older. I’m 43 now. This is one of the greatest. All love to everyone
I was born in 1996 so I wasn’t really alive when this music came out, but I really wish that this song was played at the party’s I was at!! This is true music that funks the soul!! I love the rhythms and finesse of the disco/funk era and when i look at hip hop today I see that the younger fans of music have a lot that they could learn. This song encapsulates an era of music that was purely fun. The need to move my body to this beat is unmatched by any rap song I have heard in my life
“GIVING YOU MORE OF WHAT YOUR FUNKING FOR!! FEET DONT FAIL ME NOW! “
Get down one time!
When I was a student at UNL in Lincoln in 95, we used to party at a house in North Lincoln that played this constantly. After two years of this house being rented, the living room floor slightly caved, due to all of the jumping that occurred every Friday and Saturday night lol. Fun ass times.
24 years ago today, still sounds good and better than MOST "Hip-Hop" now at 11minutes and seconds!!!
Damn don't say say year's now my age is kicking in
Miss Mom damn so it’s 26 years old now 10 years older than me
Trill
It does sounds the same mann I love it 82 baby here much love
I concur
Now this is G-Funk
You haven't lived, if you've not heard this song. It's so funky. It also encapsulates a time, too.
Love the groovy bass
Brilliant re-working of a classic, off one of the most underrated hip hop albums of all time. Love this...
The west coast Los Angeles California gangsta rap and hip hop music with g funkadelic were amazing and incredibly things. Like always jamming and bumping into this one. Jumping and hyping up that the golden state warriors aka the dub and westside nations 4life has won the championship game series against the celtics. (4-2) the golden state warriors has 7x championship title. Let's go!!!! The warriors
This is still my favorite ice cube song out of many songs by him
Shout outs to Reverend X, the Spirit of the Truth!
You got the best audio quality of Ice Cubes songs, great uploads.
co-sign!
Wow. I used to listen to the full album everyday and I never realized how long this song was. Classic!!
You musta been smokin' some good shit!
Many will this song represents Ice Cube"s going "comercial", which was a sentiment that I agreed with for a long time. Listening to it now, I honestly see it as an attempt by Cube to give the industry what it demanded as well as stay true to his upbringing. That alone sounds like an impossible task to take on. Just imagine the red tape that had to be cleared to sample the entire song, One Nation Under a Groove. It's not quite the Beatles but, I'm saying, can't get that done without connections. This is a key song in Cube's evolution as an entertainer. I love it!!!
Very good observation and I agree! I feel like he brought a party song to the table to shut people up. I remember being at a party back in the day and this came on and everybody just got hyped lol. Cube definitely nailed this.
U see who they let Freak the track Only Cube and like u say his up bringing. Shout Out to my Big Brother Jamil Dotson for bringing me YOUR SHIT 💯💯💯❤
I agree , I thought war and peace vol.1 was Cube evolving and remaining relevant while he was putting out several movies and the family values tour
He was getting funky gangsta style 😎

Only Ice Cube can bring funk like this...ahhhhhh these were the days 4 sure.
I mean it's basically a Parliament song featuring Ice Cube. It's great.
Born in 84, I’ll never forget the time I told a kid the summer this came out
“Easy kid or I’ll hit ya with da bop Gun”😂😂😂😂
i remember bringing this Vinyl home and when this song came on, I flipped my shit. It was soo damn funky
when my sister was younger and we first heard this song she thought the lyrics said one nation under a pool not under a groove lol I still laugh my butt off everytime I hear that song LOL.
2022 still a banger
this song is so beautiful
I've indeed been hit by the bop gun, I almost hear Rick James inspiration and this funk is indeed nasty. Classic album
Cube wasn't G Funk until Snoop and Dre made it famous in 92
Man shut up. Cube taught West Coast how to rhyme! Snoop took influence from Cube first. Also Above the Law was first G funk, Dre was inspired by them. Chronic has a shit ton of samples melodies from Black Mafia Life. So no Sound was west coast at the time and Cube is West Coast definition of a rapper.
Love This Song ❤ Realisiert
Somehow I'm just now hearing this at 31..this is fuckin brilliant. George Clinton samples with that west coast funk is just MONEY 💰💰💰
dis muhfcka still jam'n ✌🏿™️
I'd like to see this shit keep playing on into the far future. Remind Humanity how we can still have good times 💕 😊 and get together, just forget our troubles for a while. One Humanity, One Nation Under a Groove!

Old cruisers like a 1975 Lincoln Continental would go perfect with this song. Driving along, windows down, that aggressively cool 70s look, low to the ground and wide. It commands attention, it's instantly appreciated. Especially now in 2023 with the look of modern and new cars, Teslas, luxury cars, etc. They are super nice and car tech has come a long way....but one of those OG cruisers, the lines of that car, low & wide, its aggressively cool, instantly. OG for sure. Cruising along, windows down, with a woman youre dating, the front seat is so big she can sit half on her side with her legs pointed towards you, holding your hand, hair blowing in the wind. People turning their heads to check out the car. Such an OG classy thing.
Only thing is, with those old cruisers, the exterior has to be in good shape, or else it quickly looks junky. Muscle cars can be beat up and still look badass. But the cars meant for cruising, they need the exterior on point. But if it is, nothing compares to the coolness of those 70s Continentals
