Please click "Read more" for links and more information. Visit www.horizonhobby.com/product/EFL178500.html for more information on the F-16 Thunderbirds 70mm EDF. The E-flite F-16 Thunderbirds 70mm EDF jet is a scale replica of the iconic aircraft flown by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team. Like the full-scale airshow thriller, this F-16 has an incredibly wide performance envelope-from slow and stable high-alpha flight to amazing high-speed and vertical capabilities. At the core of this updated and upgraded version is a higher-performance 6S-compatible brushless motor plus an 85-amp ESC that are matched to a 12-blade fan to deliver an abundance of speed, thrust, and a turbine-like sound. Factory-installed electric retracts with shock-absorbing struts make it possible to take off from and land on a variety of surfaces, including manicured grass, while keeping ground handling smooth and delivering a realistic scale experience. The composite-reinforced EPO airframe is lightweight yet strong, and the digital, metal-geared servos plus ball-link equipped linkages provide precise control. And it all combines to deliver one of the easiest to fly, yet highest performance, most capable and feature-rich mid-sized F-16 models ever! This BNF Basic version model includes a factory-balanced and installed 12-blade 70mm fan, matched to a larger 1900Kv brushless inrunner motor, plus an 85-amp Avian Smart Lite ESC that work together to deliver an abundance of speed and thrust. With this updated and upgraded power system, the F-16 70mm now has even better vertical performance and more speed than the previous version making it capable of level flight top speeds well over 100 MPH and nearly unlimited vertical performance with 6S 3200mAh to 4000mAh batteries. It’s also equipped with a factory-installed Spektrum AR631 receiver featuring exclusive AS3X and optional-use SAFE Select technologies. When using compatible AirWare-equipped transmitters, the receiver and Smart Lite ESC supply overall battery voltage, current draw, motor RPM, and other telemetry data in real-time - with Smart and non-Smart batteries. And with a 7+ channel transmitter, you can also take advantage of the optional-use thrust reversing to shorten rollouts after landing and for other special ground handling capabilities. If you go to 2:29, you can see some people in the pavilion. That is me, my dad, my sister, and my uncle. We loved being in the video and watching it in person. Also after this video was filmed, there was a mid-air collision and one of the guys crashed. It reminded me that even the pros crash. Keep up the work Horizon! ❤
I have the outgoing versions of this F-16, the friendly stall characteristics and wild slow flight capabilities make this such a fun jet. Would love to see a high-trim option Cessna 310/320 w/ flaps and retracts from you guys.
Also, flaperons cause adverse yaw where the nose swings in the opposite direction of the roll. Plus, lowering the ailerons can cause the tips to stall. It’s better to use spoilerons, but the F-16 doesn’t need them.
txkflier is spot-on! F-16 models don't really need flaperons because they can land at a higher angle of attack/slower than other similar class models without them...see the landing starting around the 2:36 mark in this video for reference (that landing was in a crosswind...could have been even slower without the crosswind or especially into the wind!). Also, full-scale F-16s don't have flaps because they utilize flaperons. You can always plug the aileron servos on this model into separate channels and program your transmitter to use them as flaperons if you prefer (but it's definitely not necessary to land this model slowly!).
Does anybody know if it comes with a front gear landing light or maybe an aftermarket one would attach to the strut? This helps me when it’s coming in on final approach and I can see it better. Just wondering.
Cool! It would look so awesome next to a 70mm F-14...hint hint. Or again, anything from the Grumman or Consolidated line of flying boats....pretty please....
Cmon horizon, make another updated 30mm or 40mm umx f16. Ive got my hands on one by spareparts and i wish there's another umx f16 so i do t have to baby mine. Pls while you have the license for the model.
You really have to butcher it to put an 80mm. Bigger is not always better. Why not just put another high performance 70mm like Schubeler DS-30-AXI HDS V2015 70mm EDF and have much more power speed than any 80mm edf. 165+ mph before it starts to flutter and unlimited vertical on 6s.4000mah. its a direct drop in. You will also need a 100a ESC as the stock with smoke with this power system. If you could make a thrust vector nozzle it can hover.
Wouldn’t it be a bit cooler if you finally bring out the best fighter from ww2, the Bf 109. There are like 10 epo f 16 on the market but not even one good Bf 109. I mean it wasn’t only the most produced fighter plane, it was also by far the most successful fighter ever! This market is already drowning in Corsairs, Mustangs and F-16’s and you don’t even think about bringing out the fighterplane with the most kills in ww2? I know you can do it E-flite! And it would be the perfect duo with the Fw 190 that already everyone loves.
The Fw 190 1.5m will (sadly and unfortunately) be discontinued soon because even though it came out after the P-51 1.5m, and is a better model in some ways, it sells far less volume than the P-51 each year. We even sold a 1.1m Bf-109 in our ParkZone brand more than decade ago, and sadly it was one of the worst selling warbirds we ever offered: ua-cam.com/video/Q0gPSVQAeLM/v-deo.htmlsi=PhfB7xkvj2pLnOJm We've offered a number of axis warbirds over the last two decades and none of them ever sold anywhere near as well as P-51s, Corsairs, P-47s, F-16s, etc. That's why the market is "drowning" in models of those...because those are the models that sell best because those are the models most people want! That said, we aren't giving up on axis warbirds entirely just yet...
@@HorizonHobbyProducts first, big fan of you guys and do have multiple models, FW190, ME262, T33, Spitfire etc.. and working in branding myself. One of the reason why you or anyone is able to build a strong brand is not only because one is focusing on profit or selling the most wanted / quantity-wise / profitable models but most importantly to strike the right balance between a unique variety of models such as a potential 109 (would love that one) and of course classics like the F16 which will allow you to continue growing a strong and loyal fan / client base across the globe, in my case in Germany. Keep up the great work but please do continue to focus on some unique legendary pieces as well like the 109.
It's too bad it took them so long to upgrade this one to the 1900Kv motor, I upgraded mine a couple years ago. It's a great jet for anyone with some EDF experience.

AWESOME...PERFECT TIMING FOR CHRISTMAS!!!
Good upgrades on a already nice bird! Reverse thrust ,upgraded fan , and full telemetry,i like it!

Wow the F16 has come a long way since I built and flew the Combat Models F16 back in the 90's, Looks great !
We remember those old glow-powered prop jets! The hobby has definitely come a long way since then :)
This reminds me how badly I want a CT-114 Tutor in Snowbirds livery.
Ohh yes the F16. Such an iconic jet. You know what would really go well with this....? A scale airwolf from horizonHobby 👍👍💯💯
Please HH :)
Awesome F16 ! LOVE HH
Looks and sounds great !
Great flying jet just got better!
Love this but cmon eflite.... we need a 1.5 P40 or a p38 or a updated f-4 phantom! Fingers crossed❤❤
Literally just bought the fms motor and smart lite 85 amp for mine. Nice upgrade
I honestly hope you release an updated eflite at-6. Those things are hard to find
Oh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Horizon!
Thanks for this update on the 70mm F-16. Any chance the UMX F-16 can see an update too? Maybe a 30mm or 40mm EDF with 3S power.
A new UMX EDF model with a 30mm fan and 4S power would be pretty awesome!
Cool Jet!👍
If I could make a wish, a Hangar 9 Beechcraft Bonanza V35 with a wingspan of approx. 2 meters made of wood would be cool!
Very nice looking redesign, but no flaps always bugs me. Can you still land it relatively slow? Is it common for pilots to program flaperons on this?
The F-16 doesn’t need flaps or flaperons. It can fly at a very high angle of attack without tip stalling.
Also, flaperons cause adverse yaw where the nose swings in the opposite direction of the roll. Plus, lowering the ailerons can cause the tips to stall. It’s better to use spoilerons, but the F-16 doesn’t need them.

Cool another upgrade😊
On top of all the new releases. This and every year.... Let's compare product output to your favorite brand of EDF shall we Victor?
Love it! Any chance the 80mm version will become available again in EU? Would love to get my hands on one!
I really like this but will there ever be any new planes that are not a umx or a upgraded larger plane? Like an actual new plane?
We have many all-new (not just updated and upgraded) models coming in 2024, from UMX to giant scale, sport models to jets and beyond!
Random question, but any plans for an updated Valiant?
No plans to update any of the current Valiant models at this time (because they're all really good as they are now!)
@@HorizonHobbyProducts But we want a top loading hatch :(
I put the 2100KV FMS 80MM fan in mine...ALLOT of fun!

Thank you for the detailed answer! At least the last sentence makes me a bit optimistic.

😢 😢😢 the elevator though
I'll probably get the 80mm version with a more scale elevator
