Marvin Bartley alluded to in an article I read that there are one or two sitting and waiting on the manager to be sacked, believing they can outlast the manager. How many more are like this? Going by the pattern of performance drop off, under 3 different bosses I believe we have some bad eggs, dragging the rest down with them. Fooling managers with words and turning up in training and then phoning it in in league games. Phil needs to swing the axe towards anyone not hitting the performance level required. They seem to generally try much harder in Europe. As it is a shop window opportunity, or a chance to try and improve their deal here or get a move. When it comes to league business, we are being cheated. Reading what Marvin Bartley said, it changed my mind on the problem. Clement has been too trusting, if he doesn't cure the poison, it will cost him. We need to back the manager and take the power away from players, who are stealing a wage. No system under any manager will work if there are a small group of dishonest types wrecking it and not pulling the same way.
The real poison is in the stands. It's no coincidence at all that the team perform better when the "die hards" surrender and don't scream for the 70 minutes they're present before leaving. We cannot go on with this negativity. Players also need to be better. But they don't even want to try and be creative because every pass forward that isn't completed is met with a jeer.
