  • During a recent international trip, Rebekah was forced into a experiment about her self-care treatments for lipedema and lymphedema. Unlike her first post-diagnosis international trip earlier this year ( • Flying With Lipedema P... ) everything has gone wrong. For the first time in three years, she had to go out of ketosis and was unable to walk. Rebekah describes the dramatic changes she noticed in her lymphedema and lipedema symptoms with just one week off her routine. Yes, lipedema treatment without surgery is possible. You CAN feel better. What makes lipedema worse? I found out really quick!

Thank you so much! I didn't think I'd watch this when it was about intense travel...but I feel like this could have been me talking about daily life. The pitfalls and the stressors that happen. I have IBS and colitis with my Lipedema and I get it. Swelling is a daily battle that most people don't get. Thank you so much for your stories. I'm glad to know we are all in this together.

I have also experienced as I call “side effect “ when I don’t do my daily care. Swelling from not doing the flexi touch machine, eating wrong food and not moving all play a part in how well I move. Changing from compression socks to using the CzSalus tights have made been positive change for my legs.

As I'm still fairly new to the lipodema diagnosis and since that, it seems I find more and more out about this dang disease . I have been taking care of my 87 year old dad this week in my home and let's say it's been like having a newborn but worse. I have had few hours sleep and constantly on my feet and my diet has sucked. Wellllllll I too like you Rebecca have swollen up so bad , mainly my legs and I have been like wth????? Never knew they could blow up like that but as you, I try to be careful with what I eat and now I know the importance it really makes..
I hope you have a amazing rest of your trip, your beautiful, it's beautiful and Thank you so much for being you and helping us ! You enjoy that pool Sturdy Woman !!! I bet it's amazing.

Right before i learned about this diagnosis i had gotten in a pool for the first time in a long time and i noticed that i had to get out and pee within 20 minutes which is really unusual for me because i had already done that 40 minutes prior. When i learned how good swimming is for this, it made perfect sense and now I'm trying to go swimming once a week at least.

My PT who has worked with Lipedema for 20 years told me that one hour in a pool, not all swimming….walking, floating, just hanging out reduces edema for 24 hours. She made me take a picture of myself in the pool the day before my vein surgery. It made a big difference for me. Looking forward to getting back to the pool after my two week break because of the vein surgery…which I decided to have because of Rebekah’s video about it making a big difference and it has!
Thank you Rebekah for all your positive energy and help! You are making a big difference in all of our lives. Keep the faith, you’ll be back to yourself in no time.

Please share about your vein surgery! I am scheduled Sept 19th. They are only doing one leg then schedule for the other afterwards . I'm going to the beach 3 weeks later so hope I'm not bruised all up still then. I barely touch my legs and they bruise so bad so can only imagine after this. But yes please share any details . Thanks

The pool is really helping my leg pain and swelling. I joined my local parks pool and try to go six days a week. My leg pain is gone. I am not a swimmer, but I enjoy taking water aerobics classes. Another bonus, at 70 years old, I am gaining muscle.

@@tcooper802 i’m so sorry to hear that you bruise so easily. That sounds painful. Do or would you ever consider seeing a naturopath? They might be able to help with that. I did take homeopathic arnica the day before, day of and 3 days after at my naturopaths suggestion.I think that helped. I only had a small amount of bruising at the injection sites. 3 on each legs. I was a bit more tired than usual for a few days afterward. Let us know how it goes and best to you!

@@kaitteachout3633 Thank you for your reply. Yes my bruising has been like that for years. I was a preschool teacher for 14 years and boy did my legs look a hot mess lol Thankfully everyone would see me get a kick or a bump from a student and next day there's the bruise . It became a thing when something would happen on the playground if they seen it they would say there's another bruise lol
Never knew why it was happening as my lipodema was not diagnosed then and even no real swelling then either. That was more recently other than a little at the ankles .Just assumed I bruised easily.
So they did both your legs at once ? I wonder why they will only do 1 of mine at a time?
Yes I would so go to homeopathic Dr! I do plan after my vein surgery to have lipodema liposuction. There is a specialist in Tampa Florida that specializes in it. It's very costly but I'm 49 and hopefully have some time left on earth so I wanna wear shorts and be pain free again so I'm willing to get a loan and have it done . His name is Dr Su @ artlipo in Tampa . He does the videos on UA-cam and shows before and after live. You should go take a look!!
After your surgery did you notice a difference with swelling going down or stay the same ?

I appreciate the honesty. It really feels like every time I travel all my good routines fall apart and I love to travel! I just remind myself that I can get back up on the horse when I return. It is always a bit of a struggle but it works - I get back in the habit and make it back to where I was. When I was in southeast asia this past summer I swelled beyond belief. People commented on my fat ankles it was so bad. Back in the US they went back down.

You said your keto do you eat high veggie keto or more meat based? I'm carnivore. Everything I eat but meat I react to.
I had no idea about the pool. I now think back and I noticed that the last few years I haven't had my pool, I have just been getting worse. Now I know why every time I got in the pool I had to get out and run to the restroom. That's really good to know it helps. I just got in for 3 hrs a day because it was the only place I didn't hurt to move. Man I miss my pool.

I fell off the lip edema wagon at COVID and am just now redirecting my life back to being in control or at least trying to. Redoing compression therapy and hoping I can resolve what I messed up. Stay strong people, don’t fall off the wagon, it isn’t worth it.

    • @tcooper802

The vein surgery can only be done if you have vein issues/ venous insufficiency.
To find out , I went to a cardiologist after my Dr seen swelling in my ankles who then ordered the Doppler test on my veins who then told me I had the venous insufficiency and lipodema. All this time I knew my legs hurt , bruised easy , was heavy , would swell etc... Just chalked it up to gaining a little weight and fibromyalgia.
Basically They run a wand on all your veins like a sonogram and see how the veins are flowing. This can cause some of the same symptoms of lipodema . I am awaiting my surgery Sept 19th . Hope that helps. I'm new to all these so not a lot of information as others may have for ya but wanted to share . But look up venous reflux or venous insufficiency

    Hey hey 👋 awesome video.
I was curious if you or anyone here in the comments had any experience with keto diet in couple with some of the tips here?
I started Keto diet and it has significantly reduced the amount of fluids I've been retaining and I have been successfully losing weight for the first time in years, down 20lbs.
I was just curious if anyone else has any anecdotal experience long-term with Keto and Lipo

I have and especially this holiday season. I splurged on carbs and am having so much inflammation because of it. Bunch of stuff came back: Gerd, joint paint, fat hurts more....

I would like to know how to permanently get rid of fluid retention permanently. I have been trying to watch my salt or sodium intake. If I eat any salt I try to keep my intake low. Then drink more water. I cut the carbinated drinks out of my diet. Because that will make the swelling worse. Then I try to move as much as I can. I use to wear a belt that had the holes all the way around. But once I became overweight the belts are too tight. Then I have to where wide legged pants. I am trying to lose weight. I know I'm too big. I need to lose 30 lbs.
