A couple of months ago I bought a pair of Q Acoustic 5050, and I liked them so much that I decided to purchase these 5040, for a smaller room, giving an opinion about them, is really simple, they are simply Sublime, defined treble as drawn by Rotring, deep bass , but controlled, these 5040s have the same philosophy as The Ivy League, if you are a brilliant student you stand out, but if not, they don't help you, I mean, if the recording is good, the 5040s shine incredibly, and they allow you appreciate every detail, they are dynamic and lively, now, if the recording is no good enough, you see all the flaws. Listening to I can explain by Rachelle Ferrell, with these 5040, is to live the experience of seeing her sing in your own home. Extraordinary, they are clearly differentiating, if you are looking for definition and bass control, it is difficult to find something better out there.
My package had a massive hole, and I could see the speakers through the box when it arrived. All the protective materials were also damaged. When I tried to set up the right tweeter, it didn't work. I called customer support and started to pack the speakers back up, thinking about looking internally, but I was worried about leaving marks that could affect my refund. However, when I took out the bass speakers, I noticed that the lead wasn't attached. I reconnected 😅 everything worked fine. After setting them up, all my worries disappeared because the speakers sounded amazing with all types of music. I've been listening to them for two days straight and I'm so happy! But if I was confident about taking the speaker off. It would have been a very different story as must wouldnt due to trim pieces over the screws
i got the same when i baught 3020 when it came in , it was almost torn out of the box and when and delivery guy got it feel out on table from the box lol! but i got it on sale for only 220 us dollars including shipping overseas but it was great shape the speaker lol and punched waaaay above its price weight amazing sounding!!!
Fantastic review, as always i have a question, i owned the Wharfedale evo 4.3 and i really love them but the soundstage is a bit narrow for my taste, would be the 5040 a worth upgrade? I understand that the 5040 would have a better soundstage but what about mid and high frequencies? Are they comparable or the evo has better mids, heights, thank you
@@cogitoergosunt560 thank u, I only tested the evo 4.1 and the new 5000 series from q acoustic is definitely an upgrade in technology, if it will be better in your environment you are the only one that can say it!
When you look at the anechoic data for this speaker, there's a substantial lack of midbass (about 6 dB, < 200 Hz) and a slight trebble bump. This can be somewhat mitigated by placing them close to a wall and may also explain the percieved 'clarity', 'brightness' and timbre somewhat off. Not really a fan of MTM designs, because it limits vertical movement. For the price, the finish and QC is disappointing, because they look nice. I guess it comes down to taste in the end, but the lack of midbass is something to consider when positioning it or having to move it further from the wall, imo.
Thanks for the video. Can you give me the a list of the amps you used and which ones were your favorites. I know you did but would you be willing to condense here? Thanks!
I just took delivery of a pair of Concept 50 and one of the mid drivers will only play low frequencies. Midrange is gone. I had to send them back to exchange. Pretty disgusting to have a five thousand dollar pair of speakers show up in such a state. Considering all the markups (manufacturer, distributors, retailer) I can’t imagine an excuse for such poor QC. Clearly no listening / measuring tests were done. What are we paying for??? This is why people think new hifi is so overpriced. They watch Andrew Robinson swoon over the thing and in reality they’re lucky if what they buy even works at all.

I'm with this guy! I have no idea what people are talking about, when praising Q Acoustics speakers. I don't hear it!
Good review my Wharfedale Speakers were both double packed and great quality too as it was the Diamond series.
Thx for watching, yes i hope they will improve a little bit this aspect!

Thanks for a good review. How do you think these compare to the Focal Chora 826? Thank you.
@@patos6619 thx, never tested the Chora unfortunately, but hope to have the new AriaX series soon!

Definitely amp/setup match is to consider together with speaker position, thx for the feedback🙏🏽
