My dad died 10 years ago yesterday this was his song after 10 years it still hits so hard deeply hurts he was the best father anyone could ever have! I love you dad!! 😢😢
This year for me its 21 years , I was 13 at the time. And it still hurts . Its a scar that you take with you for the rest of your life. In my case in specific because it was so sudden. A car accident. He said , see you this evening but I never saw him again 😢
Hey bro you should rate my version of this masterpiece. Even the lead break. I do my best and I posted it years ago. Look up DAEDAEZ Mcrobertz it's an old acct I can't access lol enjoy
True Story: A few years back I was driving to my best friend's funeral. Since my heart was grieving, I wanted to hear some music for the occasion, so I played this song. Within 30 seconds I was crying so bad that I had to pull my car over. Thank you Gary for helping me let my friend go.... RIP Gary Moore
I remember.. When I was ( maybe ) 5-6 years old my father listened Gary Moore's songs. I love his songs and Im victim of these songs 12 years ago.. When I was 14 years old I got my first acoustic guitar for christmas and I started to learn guitaring. In the nowadays I continued my studies with electric guitar but Gary Moore teach me lots of things, but one of these is the most important to me.. You can't just "learn" to play on a guitar.. You need to bring your soul with the music, and you need to live in that song what you play.. Thanks for Gary Moore! Im so proud, because you're my idol! #greetingsfromhungary
I heard this song in a store for the first time today. Of course, I had to look it up as soon as I got home. That's what happens when you hear a good song, it lingers and hovers in the back corners of your mind until you hear it again. This is just pure gold.
This track came out around the same time that Montgomery, Alabama finally gained an FM rock station (WXFX-FM 95.1 The Fox). This was about September 1989. This song, along with “Bad Love” by Eric Clapton, were played a lot. 😎🇺🇸🎸
John, with all respect, do go to Pattaya, Thailand... a place called Hot Tuna on Walking Street. You'll be surprised by the improvised riffs at the end. But yes! Gary Moore is one of the best!
falling in love is heaven and earth and everything in between. Gary says it well. As long as I live I will promote your amazing works, my good friend. you're still right here.
That would have been around 86 I think, it's such a beautiful song I see how it could "haunt" you in a sense not necessarily bad way but definitely sometimes a song hits us at that time we are emotionally wrecked and it sticks forever. I hope you found joy.
So sorry for your loss but , music reminds of our lost loved n heals the soul when certain songs are played !!!!!!! The old hippie " byrdman 62 "! !!!!!!?
This is what a guitar solo should be. Each change cascades seamlessly into the next. Just when you think the solo has peaked he takes it to another level. Truly great solos like this build to a crescendo that gives you goose bumps and blows your mind. It's not about speed and technical difficulty, it's all about feel and emotion, and nobody did it better than Gary Moore in this solo.
I was chilling out with my girlfriend back then and we were listening to this song very quietly and suddenly she started to cry. She said that she has never heard such a beautiful instrumental ... honestly, sometimes it also happens to me ... it is still a miracle to me how he came up with that kind of guitar playing ...
Dubai 2010 was my first year to work abroad, I was just 23 years old. I was lonely with Tons of thoughts and worries with nostalgia. I went that night to eat at Iranian restaurant and then this song burst out the tears from my eyes.I asked that Iranian guy the song’s name, then he wrote it on piece of paper for me 🖤 Thank you 🙏🏻
I got the problem with this song. Lol. The problem is that i never get bored and listening to this masterpiece over and over again. I think this is some of the most awesome song i ever heard.
Gary, i' m still got the blues, they said that sometimes everything can't do when the road stopped.when i have been known that we can do anythink for goodthink. Thanks for this title.
I was in Cairns Australia when this came on the radio.. just mesmerized.. bought the cassette in a bootleg market in Thailand later.. just so good.. you can see why B.B. King wanted to play with him.. Since I Met You Baby and Thill Is Gone on UA-cam is fantastic...
The first time I visited my beloved grandfathers grave alone, my iPod decided (I'm fairly sure that thing was sentient) to play this song. I just stood there, at around 1:48 Gary's words got to me. I held myself until that damned guitar started up on it's own, like it was prodding me to cry. That first solo devasted me. Completely. It ripped out my soul and shook it. The song went on.. I sank to my knees and cried like I've never before or since cried. Gary's voice both soothed me and made it worse. The guitar was there with me, all along. Like an Angel, or Devil, who knows. Crying along with me, tormenting me, pushing me deeper into my own sorrow, making the depths and peaks of my sorrow and anguish even more pronounced, the swells of the melody of the solo bringing up pictures of myself and my grandfather when I was a child, going from intense happiness to profound sadness. I can't explain it properly, but the guitar took on a voice of its own, like it was it's own entity, knowing my feelings better than myself. I cried, I gasped, I was barely able to breathe. There was only tears, sorrow and that god damned guitar. Mocking me. Soothing me. Toying with me. Caressing me. Absolving me of my childhood shenanigans and playful pranks against my grandfather, being his voice from beyond the grave. Both stern and playful, friendly yet truthful. Honest. Loving. Ever truthful. I can't even describe it, it felt supernatural, and it felt like like an eternity. I could swear I'd been crying for hours, and I was completely physically exhausted at the end, but it only lasted for the length of the solo. It took well over twenty years before I was able to listen to this song again, even as I write this as I'm listening to this solo my eyes are tearing up. It's just. That. Powerful. Fuck, I'm crying again. R.I.P Gary Moore, thank you for sharing your precious gift with us mere mortals.
Wow it was I'm reading my own story, I could never put a pen to,Please start writing, what an awesome way to express your feelings and other ppl identify with it ❤❤❤
Sums up all my feelings right now after being let down twice by the same guy; once 37 years ago and again when he reappeared in my life and I was mad enough to let him back in. Gary and his beautiful poignant guitar-playing speak all my feelings like no other. Bless you Gary, R.I.P. forever. XXX
This bring me memories back to when I was a freshman in high school and that's where I met my best friend and we both performed this song at a talent show in our school. I played the guitar and both of us sang the song and there were blue lights everywhere. This song means a lot to me because of that, and how me and my best friend rehearsed this song everyday after school. I still talk to her, but she's a senior and I won't see her anymore because she'll move away soon. 😔
“ So long, it was so long ago, but i’ve still got the blues for you. “ “ So many years since i’ve seen your face. In my blue days when I used to get sleepless nights, his blues serve me like medicine, listening to them makes me sleep. Grateful to Gary Moore and his blues.
i can't explain how this song get the tears of my heart and makes me flying in another life to find my feelings with my love its really touching everything inside me.thanks everyone told me about this song.
One of the most underrated guitar solos ever!... Every now and then a song comes along that reaches into your soul and sends it into astral projection.
It does not stop the pain, it just makes you less capable of thinking, taking away your only instrument to solve this problem. Been there. Just take this bitter pill like a man. Its like living whithout a hand. You can never forget you had one, no matter how you try. But, in this case, you can find another one, or learn to live whithout one.

This song touches my soul...and it reminds me of my city Prishtina in the 90's. They used to play this song in cafes and it always made me think of someone I never knew but yet I was to meet in the future...as if the past and the future met in the present...right in between...but only for a split second, or maybe even less...I...
The lyrics, the guitar, that voice, everything about this song is so perfect.

It's definitely one of the best songs ever recorded by Gary Moore.
