You can also use the cheaper aluminum foil with the sticky side, and /or Conductive Shielding paint (which is just acrylic paint mixed with alot of fine natural graphite particles).
I do this with all my guitars. One thing though. 3db is half the signal, not half the volume. Half the perceived volume is 10db. I think it depends on what the noise source is but I don't know exactly why. I actually think its better than 3b though so well worth doing.
It helps but a real faraday cage is brass not copper & yes pickups can be shielded they sell covers made of brass with chrome and other plating on Amazon
