All the Pulp fans getting so butthurt, it's a good cover..... They're paying respect to a band that influenced them and also bringing to light their music for some that have only heard of Keane
I don't think it's a bad cover in any technical sense, it's just lacking the ... slight desperation the original had. Keane's vocalist is technically better, but Jarvis' vocals coupled with the resignation and 'roughness' of the original leant a different kind of feeling to it -- something I, personally, enjoy more.
pikanchiify It's mostly the vocal. Jarvis sang in such an unique way.
That's why I feel like if Tim (pianist) would sing this one , it would have worked better.

It is clear that Tom Chaplin is struggling with the vocals. He prefers to sing at higher notes. Lower notes are difficult for him to reach. Awesome cover.

Every person will have a different vocal range, it just happens that Tom's may be higher than Jarvis', but I still think Tom's done a fantastic job covering it nonetheless.

Absolutely love both Pulp and Keane, but in no way shape or form is this version better than the original.
@paulsmartialarts Common People is usually played with a violin. I say usually because My Chemical Romance managed without one, although it isnt a patch on the original!
