@@mbusse510 for the “all you can eat” style dining halls they don’t allow any food or drink to exit the dining hall. so, the no backpack rule is to avoid students taking extra food/drinks. hope this makes sense!

did u have to sleep there for orientation? mine says it’s just from 8 am to 7 pm
the orientation is overnight
maybe freshmen orientation has overnight, as it’s 2 days. Transfer orientation is 1 day so probably don’t have overnight.
