Kim gets really turned on by living on the edge. Witnessing Jimmy pull his stunt at the meeting turned her on big time! She pulled her own stunt on him later at home by tricking him into believing she needed to break up and then announcing she needs to marry him. This con job behavior really gets her juices flowing! Next scene we see they'll be back in the shower!!
Pretty sure Gus is in a Madrigal corporate office. The steer indicates Texas, and a Google search shows the office Lydia worked at in Breaking Bad was in Houston.
My guess is, that Gus has Saul represent and get Lalo a bad deal with the judge and that Lalo therefore swears to get Saul. After some time in prison Lalo gets out (maybe by escaping) and Saul have to look over his shoulder.
Vince Gilligan once said, that one of the most difficult things to implement in the show, was Saul mentioning his 2 weddings in Breaking Bad. I'm pretty sure if Saul hadn't mentioned that in BB, they would not have had Kim's proposal in BCS. Felt kinda forced to me.
Good call there. It would have been entirely plausible to have assumed Saul would just make up the two exes to lend credibility to himself while dealing with Walter. Interesting that Vince mentioned that and went this route.
I'm guessing that getting married creates an unbridgeable "conflict of interest" barrier between them so there'd be no chance of them being on other sides in a court case.
Donald Smith It just felt out of place in such a dramatic moment, I seriously wanted them to break up right there, and it honestly felt like the right thing to do. When she said get married I kinda cringed
Thanks Better Call Pete. There is so much to digest. I can’t figure out the angle in the Kim and Jimmy relationship. As he becomes more ‘Saul’ she is both repelled and in love with him. I guess sort of like real life - hehe
batgurrl The flashback to Kim’s childhood trauma set up her dysfunctional behavior in adulthood which is why she’s attracted to Jimmy. She knows better but can’t help herself.
BigJon410 true. She also knows he pulled the address switcheroo thing on Chuck for her. Maybe she is ‘breaking bad’ herself. It’s so complex that’s why it’s interesting.
These conclusions are as good as you could draw from the preview/trailer. I did not have high hopes for this season after the long lay off, but it is as good as BCS gets.
One connection I noticed previously Kim was wearing a KC Chiefs jersey as a night shirt, and Gene has a KC Chiefs lunch box at the mall. Could Kim and Jimmy still be seeing each other in Omaha?
whether or not kim is doing it for love or insulation, all arrows point to things ending badly, only 4 more episodes left, they're gonna be DENSE w/the reveals, then we wait another 2 years (?)... YOU'RE KILLING ME GILLIGAN
Mike knows that the cartel would be suspicious if things go too bad for Lalo, just like with Tuco. Mike (and Gus) have some plan to prove he wasn't the killer. They want some charges on him, like the gun charge, get him in the system and maybe ankle monitored to keep him confined, but they don't want him doing 30+ years. Just my guess.
The evidence leads me to believe they got married at the JP. His suit is a normal suit no hot colors making him Jimmy not Saul, Huel "dressed" up perhaps as witness to the "best man" wearing his bedazzled jacket. And when they are leaving the court house, it appears that Kim is wearing a ring on her left hand. Although it appears that the look on Jimmy's face is the one he makes when he's 2nd guessing his decision. I'm predicting the marriage end in an annulment for Kim's safety.
Kim (and Nacho) get murdered by Salamanca crew when Saul/Jimmy is found out to have a relationship with Mike. Saul/Jimmy becomes a Gus ally for protection. Just throwing that out.
Tuco ends up killing Lalo because Nacho convinces him Lalo was disgracing the Salamanca name and Hector has a Flash Back scene to confirm that Lalo isn't a blood relative Salamanca just a Nephew by Marriage. But the only other person to know that Tuco killed Lalo is Nacho, then Gus will want Nacho dead so he let's it be known that Hector's heart attack/stroke was because of Nacho. But Mike gets word to Nacho just in the nick of time and barely gets away via the Vacuum Repair man and that's how Ed Forester (rip) gets introduced to the story. I may not 100% correct but come back in a few months I bet I'm closer then most
Originally I couldn't wait for Lalo to be knocked off somehow. He's definitely not a likable character. But, now it doesn't feel like he's much different from Gus. Except that he's more cocky & open about what he does. At this point, I wouldn't mind if Lalo somehow gets free and gets one on Gus ... but given the circumstances in Breaking Bad, doesn't seem likely.
i dont think its to insulate herself from having to testify against him, im sure thats a benefit but I think the main priority is if they ever face each other in court she knows things will get ugly and she knows jimmy will go for the throat regardless of relationship. shes probably setting up for conflict of interest but I dont know becuase I think ive seen husband and wife oppose each other as council.
I think Gus is visiting Lydia at Madrigal. As for Gus' plan for Lalo, he will probably have Jimmy defend him as best as possible so it doesn't look suspicious. Jimmy will probably get a lot of the charges and evidence thrown out with signature Saul Goodman schemes, but a few things will stick, which will send Lalo to prison for a short time. But still long enough for Gus to plan something more permanent for Lalo.
1. Huell is obviously dressed for a wedding. 2. Jimmy peeking around the corner is reminiscent of the early cast photo of Jimmy as "Two-Face". 3. The setting for Gus sitting in a skyscraper office will probably be Madrigal. This will probably be where he makes them a majority/minority owner. 4. If I'm right about 3, Lydia will be there. According to Laura Frazer, she has two cameos this season. Well, she hasn't yet appeared and this will be episode 7. 5. You and I are in sync. I was just thinking Lalo isn't yet finished messing with Gus when you said it.
Unfortunately I think Kim’s demise will be a result of Jimmy’s ties to the Salamancos. Maybe his divided loyalties (as represented in the shot of Jimmy’s face against the mirror) will be the reason but regardless of why, I think she’ll end up dead as a result (not in this episode but in the future). Ugggh. I hope I’m wrong.
Has no one here seen the Sopranos ? I have heard this "can not be forced to testify against her husband" argument on a couple of reviews of this episode, but that is a huge over-simplification,long story short,a wife can be forced to testify against her husband very much so,if the police wants it bad enough and puts in time and resources,at least Adrianas attorney told that to her when she wanted to get hitched to Chris because of this "can not be forced" thing :) Edit : Also, awesome work man,I like your reviews, keep up the good work ! :)
Oh hey, a sopranos fan. Nice. Anyway, I think that's just the FBI in the show just putting pressure on her to say something. Remember when she was being questioned by the FBI and she decided to keep talking but never said lawyer? She just didn't know her rights to not speak without a lawyer.
I probably wouldn't base your comment by another show. The short answer is no, a spouse cannot be forced to testify against another spouse. Exceptions to the spousal testimonial privilege exist where a spouse: is charged with a crime against the other spouse is charged with a crime against a child of either spouse is charged with a crime against a third party in the course of committing a crime against the other spouse is asked to testify about matters pre-dating the marriage, or is charged with human trafficking for immoral purposes (such as prostitution) In these situations a spouse may be compelled to testify against another spouse. So in Jimmy's case, a Saul/Kim marriage would be all the protection Kim needs to not testify against Saul. At least for all crimes committed after they were married
I think Kim wants to get married (at least in part) to keep Jimmy from testifying against her, not just the other way around. She knows her boss suspects her, and after getting their asses handed to them by Jimmy, the boss is going to follow up on his suspicions. So, I think she is mostly concerned about protecting herself, not just Jimmy.
I think Gus visits Lydia at Madrigal then he gets to be with her at the hotel, thus resulting in her having a girl (as seen in breaking bad) as well as Gus mentioning to Walt that he has children while they were dining at his house even though we never get to see Gus's children, which may imply that Lydia and him never get married or in a relationship because of the nature of their business but they share custody of the girl nonetheless.
My 2 cents about Gus in that meeting are two-fold: maybe he's at Mesa Verde's as an investor, thus making it come true that Mesa Verde and LPH were aligned all along or maybe he's at a Madrigal meeting. The hotel scene... well... Gus is gay so... maybe he's having fun with some nice escort.
In Breaking Bad, Jimmy sometimes refers his ex-wife. So I guess that Kim is not going to die, they may break up. I wonder the end of this story. I like Jimmy.
Maybe jimmy was married to Kim throughout breaking bad and he just took his wedding ring off when he dealt with criminals so they wouldn’t threaten her. The tragedy of better call Saul might be the fact that jimmy had to leave Kim one day without saying anything because of what Walt did.
That's a popular theory that has been out there. Seems like after the last episode a lot of people are talking about it. I am not sure it adds to the the Breaking Bad story in a meaningful way, but the writers could make it work.
Man I love this show as much as the rest of you guys. But these montages are getting just way over the top. Episode 5 in particular. They are starting to actually take away from the brilliance of the rest of what's going on imo. Just had to vent and get that out. Saul messing with Howard is going to be the next way way overboard montage I'm afraid and I hope there's some kind of payoff and not some pathetically predicable outcome from that storyline. Looking forward to the other half of the show playing out. Gus and Lalo, ect. Great work on your assessments. Keep it up!
That pic of Jimmy in reflection of himself really starting to show how old these actors are and how it is getting tough to keep seeing them as playing younger versions of themselves.
@@PetePeppers1 Yes. These wigs on him are starting to look a little bit silly. But first: Thanks for doing these. They are fantastic. You have created a very nice body of work, and I appreciate it a lot. So do others. I love Odenkirk and love the show but him and Mike are just a little too long in the tooth to be playing characters as young as we are supposed to believe. But, with this virus, this may be the last year. I hope I am very wrong about this and we get to see them finish their work. Stay safe, stay sane.
Episode 4 "Namaste" was not great. Episode 5 "Dedicado a Max" was not a great follow up either. Burning many minutes on a midnight steak-out, hanging out in an adobe castle, and lawyer schematic about domicile of some angry old guy. Such a character talent cast and they waste time on minutia and monologue. Love the show, but the ratings nears 1 million flat on some episodes, any other show would have been dumped by the network.
What do you think Gus's plan will be for Lalo, and do you think we'll see Jimmy and Kim get married in episode 7?
Hope so. I'm anxious about where she disappears to for the conclusion, I'm very attached to Kim, I'm sure we all are.
Pete Peppers , do you think it’s fair to say that Kim and Jimmy share a “toxic” romance?
Ringil yes. They definitely aren’t good for one another, despite their love.
She dies

Most of Howard’s interaction this season is basically, “have you thought about my offer?”
"His lapels are bedazzled". I don't think Huell Babineaux has gotten a classier compliment in his life.
I had to look up the spelling on Huell's last name.
Pretty sure Gus is in a Madrigal corporate office. The steer indicates Texas, and a Google search shows the office Lydia worked at in Breaking Bad was in Houston.
Came here to say just that, definitely at Madrigal.
I also thought Madrigal
Or the DEA
My guess is, that Gus has Saul represent and get Lalo a bad deal with the judge and that Lalo therefore swears to get Saul. After some time in prison Lalo gets out (maybe by escaping) and Saul have to look over his shoulder.
LoveIsLovely BB established that Saul never directly interacts with Gus. He knows a guy who knows a guy. Never even met Gus

Kim (and Nacho) get murdered by Salamanca crew when Saul/Jimmy is found out to have a relationship with Mike. Saul/Jimmy becomes a Gus ally for protection. Just throwing that out.
When Mike saus "You're holding something" its that Jimmy is in the plot to frame Lalo and can be further used.
