I used to be a book collector but after moving a few times with literals tens of boxes of books, I donated most of them to Half Price Books and now I am only a kindle reader. I still kept some of my favorite books and that is still a few boxes full that I currently don't have space to unpack in current my place. So yea my opinion of physically having books has greatly declined.
idk feel like blood meridian can be a kind of christian story, its from that perspective and judge holden is like the perfect look into what they were up to in those times.
Kacee, have you ever looked at the Dragons of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey, firmly in the SciFi realm but with a twist that makes it feel like fantasy and a different more medieval time in many respects. Lots of romance stories or relationship stories like within the stories of all kinds. Some of my favourite books here. Also her Crystal Singer series are heavily romantic with a music/scifi edge to them. Fascinating books if you like that kind of thing and so many of them. There is an overall arch to the story of the series with a resolution too which I like. During her life towards the end she started co-writing with her son Todd who eventually took over completely after her death. They are still good books but I prefer all the solely Anne books if I am honest. If you like books like the Maze Runner which I think I see one the shelf behind you I am pretty sure you would enjoy these books as she is great with characters and character development with satisfy storylines and resolutions. I like her a lot. She is a Hugo and Nebula award winner. I am surprised her books have not been made into a film or tv series!
Blood Meridian is dark and violent, but the prose is exquisite. A lot of readers consider it one of McCarthy's best works. Also, when you get around to reading it, there is very little punctuation, so you really have to pay attention to understand what is going on.

If you are looking for beautiful books the Minilima versions of Harry Potter are great, there are the first three out at the moment.
