Oh my, your home decor ideas are so similar to mine, this video is definitely very helpful! your video confirms a bunch of my fears. I feel for you as I’m sure that you’re disappointed with how this fabric turned out to be, very high maintenance. I feel like salespeople market these fabrics as so easy to take care of, so you don’t have to worry, but although they are cleanable and can withstand damage, it’s a lot of work for us! The pilling on the fabric is ridiculous at the price you had to pay. Now I’m considering going leather, although my feeling about the look of my home is exactly like yours, I want the soft look of light coloured fabric, the versatility of this look, the softness of the fabric vs slippery leather. And leather couches are so expensive, it’s almost worth it to buy slipcovered fabric sofas and get new covers every couple of years. The only option I would consider for fabrics is performance velvet. I had a PB sectional in it and it was amazing! Easy to clean, super cozy and soft, no pilling, and cat can’t claw through them. So for me, it’s velvet vs leather. One thing to consider is that all the performance fabrics are coated in water and stain repellant and it gradually washes off as you spot clean and machine wash your sofa. This happened to mine, but because it was grey, the sofa looked pretty clean. Best of luck with your beautiful home! I’m looking forward to watching your fireplace video, I’m begging my husband to DIY an ethanol version .
Yessss! I agree with you, I went with this one because honestly I’m a home decor lover and I’m not gonna have this couch forever, let’s face it haha! So I feel like I need to have my dream right now and then once it is run to the ground I can try to save for another if that day comes. My first one was leather it completely did not go with this space, no matter what I did I didn’t feel inspired I wanted to change it out, in the right house I would have loved it, but honestly it wasn’t for this one. I do agree with the peeling now when I see it I get kinda pissed but then I shake it off and say it’s not a forever couch we will have plenty in our lives and I keep going about my day. 🤪
I think the while couch is a trend right now. I have no kids and no pets, so not an issue, But decided on Pottery Barn Carmel deep sofa w/double chaise in Smoke color Everyday velvet. GET IT! AMAZING!
Ohhh that sounds heavenly!! I do love mine and how it brightens my room, I had a dark leather in this space and it didn’t do anything for it. But trust me when I get to my loft I will want something like what you got! SO PRETTY!!
Thank you for the honest review. We will be getting this couch, but slipcovered. With dogs I want to be able to wash all of it. 😆 I am OCD about things too and just have to realize nothing is perfect. It will definitely be better than my garbage Ashley Furniture sectional.
Oh my gosh! I never knew that was a thing. I’m gonna go on Amazon and get one. I honestly didn’t even know peeling was a thing until people asked in the comments 😂
Great idea to add an access door on your custom shelving on your fireplace!!! I just wanted to offer my experience with washing my slip covered RH cloud sectional. I bought a WHITE performance fabric one three years ago -bleachable- (as per websight) cleanable - no worries. Living on a farm with kids, dogs, cats and a husband (lol) I thought it was a sensible choice 🤣🙄. I had buyers remorse within a year. After a phone call to RH I discovered that “washing perennial performance fabrics may reduce the effectiveness of the soil- resistant finish”. May reduce= definitely reduced. I’m now in a position to buy replacement covers ($10k CAN +) or a new couch or live with an uncleanable dirty white one 😭😭 You might not have the same experience, I hope you don’t, but just in case maybe look into it.
@@Oliviaatlashome I washed them the first time after about 6 months. They washed well no worries- I didn’t even know i was doing anything wrong as I was told they were bleach-able. I vacuumed the sectional daily bc of dogs and spot cleaned but those areas seemed to always look grungy I washed again about 4 months later. Maybe I was doing something wrong on my end with the spot cleaning???? Anyhow I ended up calling RH and that’s when I was given the info about compromising the stain resistance of the fabric. As of right now I’m still vacuuming everyday and wash the covers about every three months - it’s a workout lol
I’m a new subscriber ❤ I seen this sofa in person today in the mocha brown shade at my local pottery barn an instantly fell in love 🥰 such a beautiful sectional.
Thank you for being here!! I love in your store they had different colors! I wish pottery barn would show more fabric options in their couches and chairs and not the same 5 over and over again so we can have a better idea of what it would look like in person!
Oh my… you do have a lot of projects going on. It’ll all be worth it once it’s complete. 😅 I’m excited for the kitchen project. That sounds amazing. The half bath looks good. I like the trim color now vs the darker wood. The vintage door you want to get to close off the room I’m not sure about. That looks like a piece that would be great for a pantry door. The room looks nice open and airy. I’m sure whatever you decide will turn out great.
Hi Brittany I think the black door will 1-ground the room 2-add beauty plus interest and 3-create drama. I see no downside. Once it's in you may have to repeat the black somewhere else for balance. I watched your swatch video as I am buying a York sofa and found it informative. Thanks Kathy
The black room… did you watch House of Valentina? Her dark spaces are so tempting 😅 One advice I want to give you, since I feel like your thinking is so much like mine, focus on one thing only at a time. Just one thing. Make decisions on one thing and see it through and then move on to the next thing.
Can't blame you about being neurotic regarding your light sofa. I just purchased a feather down filled sofa from CB2 and I've only sat on it ONCE. LOL. I will relax eventually and chill on it. Enjoying your videos Brittany. 👍🏽
@@Oliviaatlashome Haaaaaaaaa. Yep, trying to keep it looking pristine like Mrs. Walker did at first. LOL. I will use your idea of turning the cushions inside out and actually washing them. The two of you did an awesome job on your TV/Fireplace wall!!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Kudos. The baking soda and paint on the vase was great as well. Keep up the good work! Next is your office if I'm not mistaken. ✌🏽
So happy I found your channel because same interior design style inspos! Also, nothing with wanting to do too many things at once! 😂😂😂 Subscribed! Love the kitchen idea btw
This was super helpful!!! Thank you sooooo much. Ordered my swatches of the two fabrics you were thinking of. Ok for the doors, love the idea love the look of the black but with all the glass panes. I think it was the left one of the three you showed.
Ahhh you are going to be so obsessed! And if you get the cozy chenille plesseeeee send me a photo because I am dying to know what it looks like on a big piece! You think the doors with solid all the way down to the ground?
the rub is beautiful too, you've got me considering getting it for my living room. is it itchy at all, as there's wool in it? I had the west elm wool souk rug and my kids found it itchy and scratchy on their bodies when they lay on it or sat in shorts, even though it feels plush underfoot.
Brittany I just ordered my sofa PB comfort in Dove Heathered Basketweave with downblend on the recommendation of a manager at Pottery Barn . Is that the same as yours? Love your home it is beautiful👏🏻
I’m trying to find a comfortable couch for a small space I have Pottery Barn Cameron and it’s just not that comfortable not deep enough. What do you suggest?
I am trying to find a sofa now. Had to leather sofa express sofas that lasted 20 years. Frames still excellent and cushions still holding up because of built in springs. Just time to change colors. Now looking and hard to find good quality. Was looking at RH but then will not disclose how frames are made and most cusions just barely stuffed. Do you have any brand recommendations?
I love the door idea. But are you really going to get rid of all that cabinet space? Your idea looks beautiful, but where is the stuff you are storing in those cabinets going to go? Are you expanding the pantry?
Hahahaha yessss! Well they did shall I say, I laid some rules down for the new couch that they have learned, they are now only allowed on the couch on top of a blanket, and after a year they know the rules and understood the assignment 👏🏻👏🏻. So no digging and going in circles before laying down 😂😂🫠🫠. They know if they want to come get on the couch and cuddle with us they jump up and lay down right away lol!
@@Oliviaatlashome I wish I could train my dog and cats to not get on the couch! They just do it when we’re gone it never works so we just cave all the time when we’re home we just give up
Biggest mistake most people make when hanging their flat screen TV on the wall is hanging it too high so that you have to look up straining the neck while on the couch. The TV should be at eye level from a sitting position.
The pilling would drive me nuts. I hate that. It’s the synthetic fibers that do that. Natural cotton doesn’t. I’d get a sofa that’s slipcovered if I wanted a light color. If you use the sofa, it’s going to get dirty. Dirty sofa’s are like dirty carpet… looks like crap.
