You can do it! Most likely a loose solder joint!
Thanks for this! I swapped the switches out in my vortex core but a few weren't working. I texted the switches and they're fine, but I didn't know what else to look for or how to test resistors etc.

at first, i thought it was just my keyboard led problem. its blinkin brighter than any other keys.
if i click one of em which is "1", "q", and "a" when its blinking, it register any other key.
if i press q, its also register tab and w,e,r.
if i press a, it register capslock, s, d, f
or if i press 1, the other keys like 2,3,4,5 also registered.

Did you spill liquid on your keyboard? I would take it out and clean it and then test it again. Try cleaning around the traces of those keys that are an issue

In my rk61 r keys are not working. 6, y, h, n. All these keys are in a column. It's not a key problem. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the pcb. The hotswap socket are all properly soldered. Any idea how do i fix it?
Nice word. I have a cooler master quickfire and the keyboard just don't work any key, just lock leds are working. If I use another keyboard to active other leds it work but I can't control anything. I remove, clean an put back the controller but not working either. When I plug on computer it recognize normally. You can help me because my options are getting to the end.
please teach how to fix a whole columns of keys not working. For me, I'm having trouble as my P key is not working (LED is also out) and the whole row of 0p;/ is not working. please tell how to fix it

Is it possible to completely remove the LED from the plate?
I dont need any RGB or lighting to my keyboard, why do companys assume. lol
you can remove the LED controller or follow the universal trace for the LEDs and Cut the trace on the PCB with an exacto knife.

This is exactly what I'm looking for, but you think the problem of my keyboard is the same? The 3keys - ,+, and enter on the numpad aren't working. I tried replacing the switches still the same. I tested it on keyboardtester site using tweezers, it lights up but no response on the tester site.
If one of the rbg light on my keyboard is not displaying any blue, is that a trace issue or an led issue?

My “1qa” keys all don’t work but light up although a different colour. I can’t find the trace it just stops and the traces go right instead of up.
Look on the other side of the PCB, if a trace stops it usually flips to other side or a different layer (keyboards are usually only front and back). Have you tested the other traces?
I bought a keyboard where the FN key is always on, even when the switch is pulled, can this be fixed in a similar fashion?

Hi super video! Can i ask you something? I have a Logitech G pro and after resolder, a new switch (for F7 key), something very strange happened I don't know what can be the issue: keys are lighting correctly ( all) but keys 5 t g v and space, even if are sending the lights, not sending the signal. Do you have any idea on what could be the issue? Few other mentions: I lubed all the keys previously, i also do this procedure of resoldering, new switches, a couple of times, as Logitech G pro has this problem of broken stamina inside the switch and can't replace keycap otherwise, also last time because I force resolder UP key, this key stop working and in order to solve it I need to make a bridge with another key, I also try cleaning with isopropylic alcohol. Thank you so much !!!!
When multiple keys are not working that usually indicates a faulty ground or power source! The keys 5 t g v are vertically stacked so if you trace the PCB of where those keys are you should be able to find the single cause of the problem! This should be an easy repair! Just try to measure the voltage outputs of a working key and reverse engineer the traces! Good luck!

Is it applicable on dead sockets? My mechanical keyboard has 4 dead sockets.

Haha, I was on some extremely strong sedatives at the time for my viral lung infection (not covid). I am fully recovered now!

@@nikolike7332 Actually I didn't yet tried to repair my keyboard, I just have like 4 keys that don't light blue, but if I hit the keyboard it starts working again for brief moments. I think it is because of broken solder contacts. From what I could find out, these Corsair keyboards all have problems with the soldering.
@@TrinityAlex thx for fast responce! On corsair forums I saw a lot of people that report same problems with their leds, so I think It's really defect of their keyboards. But I wish I can repair it somehow or just sell and buy new one xD
i stabbed a pcb trace with a switch pin whilst i was trying to put it on, do I just solder it?
u can use a single strand of copper from stranded wire or you can use solder to refurbish the connection

I have a razer blackwidow X, I change the switch, since it failed me, when connecting everything, the LEDs of some keys do not show the corresponding color or it simply does not work, the pcb is a bit complicated, the mapping of this is difficult, I will try watch your video multiple times. anyway thank you very much

Hello! I am actually facing wrong RGB colour and no color on 2 keys when the whole keyboard is of the same colour...though the colour for them is different the keys are T and right arrow key and both behave inaccurate on changing colour.....what do have to say?

If you spilt something on the keyboard that could cause a short. I would recommend opening the keyboard up and looking for water damage / corrosion and clean with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol.
@@divinfLLC i already open up the case and look at the pcb but it doesnt have corrosion at all and as long as i remember i never spill anything on the keyboard. but i will try whole cleanup with isopropyl alcohol.
@@mrcapucino try to test the LEDs that are issues to see where the voltage sources are coming from
Please react, can you buy only the leds because mine are broken. how are they called?
You will need to look up the vendor / replacements for your particular keyboard. As long as the LEDs you purchase are the same spec as your keyboard they should work!
Could you provide an insight? What could be the problem if the mech KB cannot work in type C cable mode. I have to end usually end up. Thought if the cable is connected the indicator light is still ON like it is on a charging mode I guess. Thanks!
What type of KB is it? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by type c cable mode. (Can the kb take USB C and other cables?) I would try cleaning the USB c port and if that doesn't work install a new USB C port.
@@divinfLLC sorry, I meant USB TYPE C cable mode. So I have this generic wireless mech kb. I don't think it has a brand though. BT and 2.4 connection is working. But randomly if I restart the device the USB mode would work but once I connect to either BT or 2.4 and then switch to USB mode, the USB mode would not work anymore. But again the indicator light is still in indicating that it's charging or something like that. Not sure if I am explaining it clearly. Thanks for your reply brother.
Is there any video to how the jumper wire work on the keyboard. Multimeter seem to take a lot of time to recognise what's the problem. And my question is are the jumper wire really can fix the rgb problem?
Jumper wires should only be used to repair broken traces. Why are you interested in adding a jumper? Do you need a test point that you frequently use? Are you trying to add additional RGB to your keyboard?
@@divinfLLC Sorry, I have no idea what I'm saying. But is there anyway to know if the LED rgb has failed not because of the trace issue. Also I'm trying to figure it out if I could fix 4 led lights aren't working at different locations.

@@divinfLLC "~ and J" have no light at all. "5 and Shift" got colours but whenever the keys turn red it has no light. Only RGB is the issue I still can type every single word.
@@EpicRiceXD Definitely a chip or trace issue. You would have to physically look at the board to diagnose the rest of this. LEDs dont fail all at once like this so its definitely repairable.
i have a question. when i plug my keyboard it activate keys in bottom line like windows, space key etc. i think this happen because of excessive lubricant's that i used before to make it silent . would you recommend me to replace those switch from bottom line or how can i check it. do you have any recommendation please ?
Take apart keyboard, spray keyboard with brake cleaner and then 99% isopropyl alcohol, this will clean any shorts on the pcb then start diagnosis after cleaning.
Umm, I have a question
When the RGB is off some keys kept staying on but with low unnoticeable and flickering RGB lights.

Bad capacitor or resistor. Could be a broken trace as well. Use a multimeter to check the continuity of the flickering rgb lights
on my womier k66 my 2,w,s,x, and alt keys are not working or lighting up every other one does will this fix that? If not do you know how?

I'm okay now! but at the time I had a viral lung infection for 3 months and was in and out of the hospital. This was right before covid happened and luckily I am fully recovered now! I am being extra careful not to get covid!

amino! Can some tines get away with using solder as a trace! I would recommend getting some 30awg wire to replace the trace instead of using solder however

I just got my keyboard broken. The whole row where my left shift key are not working. The whole row doesnt register when i type. Is it possible for this to fix ?
It would be a similar repair to this PCB but most likely a ground/short issue or a broken chip. The only way to test this is by accessing the PCB and using the solder points for the switches as test points.

My keys are working but the LED on some keys (num2, num8, ?/, context menu key, F1, 1, Q, and A) is out of sync, the blue light is weak, and if you turn off the RGB the keys that I mention is still lit up in low yellow-orange light.

I have a razer keyboard where the z and h key dont light up at all and b is stuck on blue and green, F7, 9, L and P are a bit off color and flickering. I guess it was my fault because I had to open it to replace a switch. Once I did for some reason the z led stopped working.
Hmm I would check to make sure nothing is shorted out near you soldered. Razer keyboards are known for dying LEDs

I actually bought this in 2017 and havent used it until today because the H key didnt work but because of this video it works now :) and after switching switches again now the only leds that dont work are zh and b (b only doesnt show red/ish) Trading 3 leds for a working key is a win for me :)
How does such a thing happen? What causes it to break or was it a manufacturing defect to begin with?
I have a mechanical keyboard and one of the key stopped working and one has a dimly lit key, while the rest are fine. Could it be solely from handling it roughly or are there other causes ?
All the keys were fine when i bought a it months ago. I think it’s because of the bad handling of the keyboard.

Usually weak solder joints from the factory and the user banging their hand on the keyboard. I aggressively play rhythm games which use only two keys that were the keys right under the issue solder joint.
