Do u work in an air conditioned room? Im afraid to cover my cake with fondant because of the possibility the fondant will become sticky due to humidity...any tips on to overcome this? Thank you!

I don't work in an airconditioned room since I started this vlog a year ago but I used to, when we still had a store. I have to say working in an airconditioned room is way better. You don't have to rush during the covering of the cake 'coz in a non-aircon, if you're not done before it starts to get shiny, it would be difficult to make corrections. If you're used to covering cake with fondant, I don't think you would have problem. The key is to work on it fast.

Another way is: don't chill the cake. The stickyness or sometimes condensation occurs when there is big difference between the outside temperature (room's temperature) and the cake that just came out of the chiller. The colder the cake, the longer it takes for the shine/stickyness to go after covering, but once equilibrium temp. is achieved, that is, cake's temp. is the same as the room's temp., the shine goes too and the fondant dries up. The problem with not chilling the cake is that the edges may be too rounded and the cake maybe too soft to work on smoothing it. What I do is if I don't chill the cake, I make sure the fondant is thicker than usual. This helps make managing it easier.

can i use ready made rolled fondant on this?

Yes, we use ready-to-roll fondant. For the chair, you'll need to add tylose to the fondant to help it dry fast. And also, to harden it. For the main cake cover, no need to add tylose.

Yes, you can use DLA fondant too. Just add a little tylose powder to strengthen it.
