Father Knows Best - Twenty four Hours in Tyrantland

- This never-aired half-hour episode was commissioned by the U.S. Treasury Department in an effort to promote buying savings bonds. It was sent to schools, civic groups and churches for viewing. The message was that by buying savings bonds they would help save the country from communist rule.

This has taught me how we have to be thankful for our freedom.
“If our kids don’t think enough of our way of life to preserve it I shudder to think of what will happen to America.”
Truer words were never spoken.
Absolutely.
Government will become our God.
You are not immune to propaganda
Yes
It has already happened!
Every child in America should watch this.
all children. and also reading brave new world.
to show how this "nationalism" is wrong for us!
This is so good and I wish all parents would do this as a lesson to their kids
April
My father loved this program. Now I understand why we all got Savings Bonds as a gift.
Monday morning on Roger ramjet
I remember purchasing bonds in elementary school. We took a dime to school each week, the dime was put into a card to earn a bond. I was so proud when I filled my card. I didn't even know savings bonds were around anymore.
This is what parents should teach their young so they won't expect everything to be provided to them. A wonderful lesson to learn.
This is what my mom taught me
These days people talk about rights all the time, but nothing about responsibility . Even something as small and easy as wearing a mask is completely politicised and treated as a violation . I don’t understand it- would these save dissenters have avoided the draft and refused to carry/wear gas masks back in the war?
The most ironic comment- the dad on this show worked as an insurance salesman & was home for dinner every night (basically never worked after 6pm). He supported a family of FIVE who lived VERY well on ONE salary😂 They owned a home & didn’t live in a rundown, rented apartment complex. Yet you are saying people today want things handed to them. Looks like it’s actually the opposite
@@k.anderson5039Don’t forget, this was just a show. The father wearing a suit around the house wasn’t the norm. Housewives didn’t wear dresses and pearls doing housework. Middle class didn’t have a fancy home like theirs. My mother worked in 1950s and father only wore a shirt and tie. We used bonds as gifts back when, but now there’s CDs, IRAs, Money Markets, 401Ks etc. for savings, but yes, is hard today for any family to survive or save - thanks to the bad economy and all the other problems with America today. There used to be pensions, but not anymore. One good thing since 1950s was the existence of Medicare, but that could disappear too. Nothing cost that much during 1950s. Technology complicated the way we have to live today as well as helped it, but at a tremendous cost.
I found this episode and realized it's JUST appropiate for 2020 /2021 ! IT'S REALLY AWESOME ! 👏👏👏 U.S. needs to preserve its *freedom* ❗
Yes, let's send it to AOC.
They need to send it to J. Beezos!
I'd like to see Trump walk-on in a cameo role.
Yes it is appropriate and because UA-cam allows it to play, I'm not so certain UA-cam is so very much against Conservative values. This opinion based on many other videos viewed on UA-cam with similar Conservative points of view. So what's really going on with our overall media in America?
I wish they liked my conservative views. Some of mine, fairly and truthfully written have been deleted. Either as I push send or soon later. Am i shadow banned?
This is my 2nd time watching this & I want to make it a tradition watching this every so often reminding me about this. I absolutely LOVE this show & everybody should watch this in this day & age. 💝
I'm so glad to have grown up back then. Wouldn't be growing up today for anything. My now adult child was raised on these wonderful shows, and my niece's as well. They always asked "Was it really like that?" And indeed it was. They also said "We wish it was still like that." Today's young are truly missing all the amazing things we were raised with, and it shows.
Wow...Lord, keep us.
Class of 2023
I just love these old shows. Watched them in the 60s growing up and every other time when they did the reruns.
I agree. I grew up watching old tv shows and still love them. I love Leave it to Beaver, Hazel, Andy Griffith Show, The Jeffersons, I Love Lucy, All in the Family, Alice, What's Happening, Good Times, Three Stooges, just to name a few. Lol! I miss the kids running to the phone to see who would answer it first, playing family board games such as Monopoly, checkers, and Uno, family vacations, blessing our food and eating breakfast and dinner togetherr. Those were the days. Such good memories. 😊
@@tiawannarichmonde250 this shows how we were so UNaware of the racism, sexism, and how the U.S. didn't know about domestic abuse, prejudice again women etc etc.

if parents today had the attitude of this father our children would understand why the older adults are so verbal about fighting for our freedoms or what is left of them.

I. Grew. Up. Watching. Father. Knows. Best
So did I and learned valuable lessons on sharing, kindness, friendship, and letting others have the spotlight other than myself. What I learned was a lot and I always give credit where credit is due to this show for making the effort to teach values.
We all did.
I am surprised that this is not blocked in California.
...and in Washington State where the majority rule is meaningless. Our votes have been meaningless because the governor doesn't let them stand. We've even voted yes on the same issue 3 times in a row but our tyrant ignores it and keeps our taxes as high as possible. It feels useless after decades.
Thank you for sharing this lost episode. I've just discovered these. I e watch every episode many times. I never tire of them such good character builders. I also love the episode of thanksgiving. He says a prayer that is just so beautiful. How we should thank the God of love for our freedoms. Freedom in Christ is most important!
I love the Thanks Giving episode too. I’m praying for our country every day. God bless you ❤️
I remember watching reruns of Father Knows Best when I grew up in the 70s and 80s, but never saw this particular episode before today. It was a little hokey, but I ended up weeping a few times, and the message was pretty clear. They don't have a well-advertised savings bond program anymore, but I am going to ask my bank about them soon.

we have three generations of entitled youth and adults that don't appreciate this..
Amen!
Yes, it’s a terrible thought, but true. Such a sad lot to carry on with the country! Help us, God, to restore and grow stronger, more thoughtful people, to carry forward “the American Experiment”!
Yep...GenX, Millennials and GenZ. We are effed!
This is ironic.. we’re living in near Tyrantland in present day..
Yes society has done a 180 turn since these times. The show today would be about the litte girl wanting to become a boy
@@drewgrows7765 It would be about being friends with tyrants like Putin.
I learned some valuable lessons as a child from "Father Knows Best" and still remember with fondness how much I wished I was part of this family. Thank you for the upload.
That kind of family looks suffocating.
@@Joshuatree7746 In this particular episode it was stifling how the parents were, but it was a lesson about democracy vs communism/socialism.
I thought our family was like this.

I've seen and I've ever listen to the old radio father knows best radio shows every night till I start to fall asleep, but I've never seen or heard this episode before. Thank you for sharing this with us.

There's a lesson to be learned here. Without democracy, life as Americans know it would be dead and succumbed to immense struggle. No freedom, no peace.
Believe it or not, I was buying US Stamps and would pay for it with some of my 50 cents per week which were part of my lunch money. It was important not for the right reason but I wanted a better future so by the time I had $11.61 in my stamp book and some schools had this program which all schools had. Unfortunately, they all didn't. I wanted to have $300 by the time I was finished but my parents decided to move so I never got a chance to finish the stamp book.
How sad! No one told you that you could buy the stamps at the post office.🙄
....yes, there was a time when Americans acted like Americans.
Monday morning
Makes me cry. How easily we can lose our freedom!! Like right now!!!!!!! We must not let them separate us, but stand together for freedom. Freedom to speak to worship extra. Fathers have mercy on our country expose all corruption. Help us to see and recognize truth. The people who want to control us who are laying hardships on us. Deliver us from them. Let everyone see what they are doing in secret. Restore our hearts to you once again. Bless and restore America In Jesus name ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸amen

A couple of weeks ago, I saw this episode for the first time. I love this show, but thought this episode was weird. Except in my comments, I used the word que** That was honestly the first word that came to mind. UA-cam deleted my while comment. I thought it was funny that this episode was talking about a government that monitored everything its citizens did and in real life, you can't use a word that the government deems as offensive, no matter how it was being used. Scary that parts of this episode are coming true.
Fleur
I agree with what you say, but the reason your comment was deleted was because "queer" is another name for gay. You're not allowed to express yourself as you wish anymore. You'll be ostracized . It's part of the social control of the people that's being used now. They do the same in Cuba and in China. It's known as communism .

Per Wikipedia it never aired on TV- was shown in schools & such as promotion to buy govt bonds
I am thinking about buying my granddaughter a bond. Would I buy it from my bank? It would be a nice present for her 3rd birthday. 😊

I was telling my younger sister my TV experience is so different than her. I’m a boomer. Dad WW2 n TV was very Patriotic. Then Vietnam came, and older brother went. I loved the commercials..always Patriotic….. not any more.

Those were the best times in America. I sadly doubt things will ever be the same. Now in America the top concern is whether to refer to a person as him, her, they or them

The US government actually _commissioned_ this episode to be made. I'm amazed that that was permitted by law!
Great episode. Inspiring.
I know this is not realistic but it's still a great show that taught valuable lessons.

This is how those in charge ( especially law enforcement)operate today all around the world. Not just in America.
People today don’t feel like there isn’t much to fight for & rightfully so. Back then ppl lived well & felt they had a country worth fighting for- the dad on this show worked as an insurance salesman & was home for dinner every night (basically never worked after 6pm- probably went in at 9am & had 1hr lunch). He supported a family of FIVE who lived VERY well on ONE salary😂 They owned a nice home & didn’t live in a rundown, rented apartment complex.
I wish someone would upload the story about Betty, Bud and Kathy at summer camp. Can't remember the name, but Kathy messed up constantly and Betty was "Simon LeGree" trying to be The Best Counselor..anybody can do that? Thank you!

@@abitibibob Oh thank you so very much! I have been wanting to watch this episode for the longest time and now I could!! :)
This show was all the more poignant because it was on TV, not more than 10 or 11 years after WWII,
when the very real threat of world domination from a tyrannical Fascist was a possible reality, except
for the allied forces of the free world, keeping that from happening.
Facism is the marriage of corporation and state so we're actually fascist now. I at least like having my own stuff, though.
It fits for present day !
@@katherinepolicy2515 We aren't quite fascist (although the pharma companies and government working together on lockdowns was a serious step in that direction), but yes if corporations and the government work hand and hand at every turn that is fascism.
Exactly why Communism and fascism are two heads of the same coin: both are when both industry and the governing body over that industry are controlled by the same people. When any dissent is "shadow banned" "removed for 'hate speech'" deemed "disinformation" or "dangerous speech". So in a way the Democrats and RHINO Republicans are moving us towards fascism I agree.
Thanks for the history :)
So cool, thanks for posting this

they need to show this in the schools today... but they wouldn't understand...

When Jim turned the clock back at the end I thought they were about to go into The Twilight Zone and Jim would never release them from bondage.

This episode is an excellent example of socialism. 😥.

Yes, it shows the evil of socialism. I'm truly surprised they get away with airing this program. It goes against everything the biden regime is planning for our country, communism and loss of freedoms especially freedom of speech. Already in full force.

From les vacances de l amour
IMDB says this conveniently fits into the schedule December 21, 1959: Why didn't they air it? Why did they just show it in schools and such? Because that demerits the film with the people who saw this show as entertaining and popular. The communist push was already on in 1959, don't think the central bank wasn't pulling the wool over our eyes even then.
This illustrates perfectly how the current admin. is living high off the hog while we peasants are forced to accept less and less OF EVERYTHING.
Talk about missing the point completely 🙄

Would you please just look at us now? Oh how I wish we could fix this mess with just the purchase of U.S. Savings Bonds, now. But we can't.
