For a guy with a Windir tattoo from 2005...I thought "oh god, wtf" when I found this just now...it could've been done in a more hardcore techno style but still..a good job was done here..Thank You.
I thinks it's because of the compositional approach. I saw an interview with Valfar using FastTracker, and trackers in general, unlike nonlinear editors like cubase, FL piano rolls or pure sheet notation, kinda force you with the workflow to think in small bits, like single notes or themes and motifs, wich then become patterns, then loops, wich then you can overlay and build the composition itself. Wich is very simmilar to how electronic music is also grounded around with simple samples or even waveforms, wich develop over the time of a song with weird effects going on, made with tools like Ableton and other sequencers. Especially on the endig of this song you can clearly hear, how every note is falling down line by line on the blue tracker colums, overlayering each other, with FX commands in between them kicking on. It really warps your head around in a different way both creating and receiving sound, when most of the time you are used to a straightforward recorded riff->riff2->break->solo->riff structures, with small transitions, fixed drums, moslty static effects etc. The difference between just playing or improvising on an instrument along some drums or chords and programming it beat by beat, is like you take an idea, record it down and edit it to the shape you want, like carving it out of a piece of marmor, and the other one you have to build it up from raw material into something wich will sound and work for you, like shaping claying or paintig out. And also thats why Windir is still unique in it's genre and will be for quite a time. Working with trackers is just hard, tedious and limiting, also we have much better tools now with nearly unlimited soundshaping capabilities, and it really impacts the creativity and level of detail when you are using weak tools to its full potential or using heavy automated machinery for simple tasks.
It's definitely a vibe. Valfar must be pleased with his legacy being carried on in a TRVE EVR0 House S0VND. As well as living on in our hearts and BLACK S0VLS! \m/
Windir, a folk/black metalband from Sogndal in Norway, unfortunately the band does not exist any longer due to the founders tragic death. I recommend the band 👍

Corpse paint ✔️ Glow sticks ✔️ Thanks for this version. It's magic.
I love Windir and Valfar dearly. This is such a great tribute. I think Valfar would have loved this.

Disagree anything more would of lost the appeal speaking from a metalheads point of view.
How come I never listened to this incredible remix? This is so EPIC! Valfar would be SO proud. I'm fucking loving it!
...And Valfar went to walhalla where he found the eternal party hall.
This is unexpected, as genius often is
I have never laughed this loud in public. Saw the title and by god, did you ever get me.
FL Studios drums are trve cvlt
somehow, this feels just as powerful as the original
FL Studio feels... that's great and nostalgic! thank you for this.
Imagine what Valfar would have done if he was still among the living...... sigh...... such a powerful legacy we would have...

Technoviking is pleased with your musical offering.
Normally, I hate Techno - but for some reason, Windir covers done in an Electronica style are amazing.
Well done.

It's more like synthwave type electronic music. Which is the kid I like.
