I love the fact, in this performance...Travis didn't try to dress up the song with unnecessary runs and vocal exaggeration to make a point.. He just delivered it the way he truly felt and it most definitely hit the mark with pure simplicity. Sometimes less is more!
He can't sing to vsing too great so it's best kept simple. He is a good stylist.

Oh there was a sound board. The Tivoli has acoustics and is wired in gig city. There was a big sound board.
Well... for this concert, there were three 'super' sound boards in use. One for the front-of-house system so the audience could hear (that's where I used to stand and work... just not for Travis. And I stood because I had to in order to feel like I was a "part" of the concert. I was also constantly making adjustment like you should, and the board was too long to reach the ends sitting down), one for all the wedge and in-ear monitors used on stage by the singers and musicians, and another one to record the concert's sound (which was outside in a custom sound trailer away from all the action). All those mixers (except the one for recording) are needed at any and all concerts. What Travis, or his band, does NOT need are any pitch-correctors or auto-tune systems or computer generated crap!!! And sadly, that CANNOT be said of the 'up and comer cookie-cutter' (I ripped that off Charlie Daniel's George Jones eulogy)so-called artists that vomit there pretend music on country radio now-a-days. It seems all the record and radio execs want now is country-rap and pitch-corrected, auto-tuned, computer generated crap like Swift (a buddy of mine had to make numerous pitch-correction passes on EVERY note on EVERY song she attempted to sing on BOTH of her first two albums. He finally got tired of it and quit the business). Swift reminds me of Chuck Norris singing the intro for 'Walker Texas Ranger'. It was so pitch-corrected and computerized you could tell it wasn't even him or her anymore. Thank goodness there's a classic country radio station down here where I live, or I wouldn't listen to the radio at all. So few are carrying the torch forward. The ONLY 'newer' artist my classic country station will put on-the-air is Brad Paisley. At least he tries to sound and play in the more classic style.
How in the world Travis Tritt is not considered by everyone to be one of the top 3 all time Male Country Artists is beyond me, that good ole long haired country boy could sing the phone book and make it sound like solid country gold and you can hear in that song that guy can make that guitar bend. That was an incredible performance, far better than you see from these country "Pop" artists of today. Hell yeah Travis Tritt!
