I used to travel nearly every week for work, I was a Marriott guy for the majority of it, but switched over to Hyatt a few years back, mostly due to rate restrictions of my client. They did a status match to Globalist. I was legit upgraded to a suite every week. The free breakfast (normally $40) was my favorite start to the day. I try to stick with them when I travel, but that can be tough since their footprint isn’t nearly as big.
I did the Bilt Globalist challenge last year and have had so many upgrades and great experiences with Hyatt that I’m going for Globalist again. Totally worth it in my opinion. Park Hyatt Maldives, Grand Hyatt Doha and Secrets Moxché coming up! Thanks Sebby! 🙌🏼
@@ericlancaster2889 I initially booked it 6 months ago because that's all they had at the time. Suite would Def be overkill. However, a few weeks back I put in an alert on MaxMyPoint for the 30k standard room and it came up! I saved 18K. I spent very little time in the room as I only had a day and a half in Florence. We did 4 days in Cinque Terre and a 6 day bike tour in Tuscany. I figured after 6 days on a bike I deserved the splurge!! I booked a hotel closer to the airport as I had a 6:30 am flight home the next day. I couldn't see spending another 30K to spend 10hours there. I booked Hotel Cosmopolitan for 195 through the portal and got the 50$ hotel credit!
Most people put 15k on personal for 6 nights and the Cat 1-4 Room, then rest on business. Also, you forgot to mention if you put 50k on business, you get 10% back points in point stays. So I put 50k in first few months then do my stays at 10% discount essentially.
Hyatt Globalist has very good value. Especially in Asia and SE Asia. My favorite hotels so far have been Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur , Park Hyatt Bangkok , and Park Hyatt Siem Reap. Very nice properties and have gotten the suite upgrade in all of them.
This summer I’m Staying At Andaz Papagayo Costa Rica, Thompson Madrid, & 7-Pines Resort Ibiza. Globalist Status here i come!!! ALL ON POINTS!!!!! And i got approved for the personal card 20k limit last month.
⛷I’m globalist thru ‘26 via a challenge I completed earlier this year! Very excited and hope to do 40+ nights this year. Ytd @15. Haven’t stayed @ many Hyatt props the last 10 years (focused on Marriott). Stayed @ Hyatt Wailea Resort when it first opened years ago and loved it! Stayed last winter @ Hyatt Yokohama and thought it was great!
Another way to earn status I’d recommend is finding a cheap cash price somewhere outside of the US. Something between $30-$70 a night and rack up nights that way. Double that down with double night promos if possible too. Could earn globalist status faster that way and it’s cheaper
@davidpham9353 It's actually a popular strategy for Hyatt customers that don't quite meet the 60 night a year requirement. Spending a few hundred for globalist status is worth it to them.
Currently Explorist after a BILT status challenge. I like it. When rooms are upgraded, it's usually an upper floor with a view. I did a Hyatt Regency in San Antonio and got a view of the Alamo. When I stayed at the Grand Hyatt at SFO, I got a view of the runway. A stay at a Thompson in Madrid gave me a balcony and a quieter location. If offered, not sure I would go for another status challenge with BILT or go for the World of Hyatt card.
Are cards like the Chase IHG and Chase World of Hyatt earning you Chase points that can be transferred or hotel specific points that can’t be used in the Chase portal?
The two cards that you mention are hotel specific, and do not earn Chase UR points...whereas the Freedom, Sapphire, and Ink cards that specifically earn UR points can he transferred out to IHG, Hyatt, and Marriott.
I wish there was a way to get extra nights when you book more than one room at a property for staying the same nights. I’ve never found a way around this….
Thanks for the video. Very informative. Do you recommend the Hyatt status Chase for someone who else has AA status? I was told status and points are matched but it’s a little confused. Thank you
I have been going to the Andaz in Maui for years on points. Tremendous value. 35k points for a 900-1200 dollar room. I value Hyatt head and shoulders above the other programs.
I was considering grabbing the personal Hyatt card to get Explorist since I plan on staying at Hyatt Seoul for 21 nights - but after watching your video I am not so sure if I should chase that tier of status. On the other hand one free night will def offset the $95 AF for sure...
The card probably pays for itself (or breaks even) but it is pretty basic status. I guess it doesn't hurt if you don't have another Chase card that has better value :)
ty as always sebby. this is a non sequitor question. i just ststus matched to delta platinum medallion leveraging my aa exex plat. then i got british airways gold executive status leveraging my delta medallion status. i fly to europe and or asia a couple times a year. seems like the ba gold status allows some nice lounge access here in the states that i could not get even with my aa exec plat status. do you think ba gold executive status is worth keeping overall?
Please do deep dives in specific Hyatt locations...this is missing from the whole youtube credit card influencers....they never show what they are doing with their credit cards
Great video! Just subscribed too :) quick question: my wife and I are going to the Maldives January 2025 for 6 nights (Alila and Park Hyatt) I’m trying to justify spending $120k on my business to get globalist for the Maldives. Would you recommend doing that and is it worth it? My business is able to spend that until January, thanks a lot!
If it's within scope, and the opportunity cost isn't too high (i.e., it's not ad spend or something where you can get 3X/4X) then I think it makes a ton of sense :)
Top 10 list. Love Hyatt! Only a lowly Explorist but have had great experiences with the SLH properties. Shame to see them go, hopefully redemption rates get better on MMS properties
Customer service for Globalist members is nowhere near matched by any other hotel program. I don't even eat breakfast at hotels nor need a suite as I travel solo, but the # of times I've had a question/issue and got incredibly helpful service makes Globalist worth chasing alone. At MBB I used to get roasted for always staying at Hyatt lol. If my business wasn't service oriented I'd allocate a ton of spend there
Yeah, definitely tough to rack up Hyatt nights as a consultant, given the footprint of Marriott/Hilton. Did you often have to go out of your way to find a Hyatt? I think that was the main compliant for most people.
I like the Grand Hyatt Singapore. In a great area of the city, great staff and the club breakfast and happy hour are very good and staff in the club take good care of you. Have a stay coming up at the Amsterdam Hyatt Regency next month.
Globalist after done a challenge. So far lots of benefits from past Hyatt stays in Asia: GH Taipei, HR Hongkong TST, HP Kyoto, GH Seoul, GH Tokyo, PH Saigon, HR Danang, HR Bangkok, Andaz Singapore, GH Bali.
Park Hyatt Seoul and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong are two of my favorites - top notch services, beautiful suites, and convenient locations. I'm based in Utah and they're opening a Grand Hyatt at Park City later this year. Super excited to have a staycation there! ⛷🚡🎿

That's still on our list :) But we've put off Hawaii because everyone we know with kids is telling us to avoid it (and Disney) since you'll likely do those a ton with kids lol
⛷Both Park Hyatt Sydney and Park Hyatt Auckland have been my favorite stays so far. With Guest of Honor bookings being transferable, I don't think I'll be going for globalist this year. I just used 30K UR to stay at Il Tornabuoni in Florence. Cash rate was 1400!

I just stayed there too, it was a fantastic redemption. We upgraded to a suite, which was likely overkill but it was 41k for a $1600 night.
