Great comment, that noise l liked was a LOW/HIGH signal or an inverted signal as opposed to a HIGH/LOW, a LOW/HIGH indicates a deeper target which is a more exciting dig and normally a larger target, so l know l am about to get some good footage and a nice nugget, hence my favourite noise, the reason for the new coil is later technology, Rohan at Nuggetfinder Coils who l have never met but is always there to help recommended this coil, its 2" wider giving me more depth and with new wiring techniques proved to be super sensitive on the smaller pieces, l get a bit heavy handed with that edit button imagining people just want to see gold, l can start to throw in a bit more info, cheers mate, NM.
TheNuggetMagnet wow thanks for the quick and informative reply. You certainly live in a great area for this hobby. I used to live in Perth when I was in the Army. Now live in Abu Dhabi. Hi Samuel, l have on occasion depending on the type of ground, close to a reef l would and clay deposits when l found nuggets, the gold in the pan at the start of my 2019 season videos is a good example, it was a clay deposit, cheers mate, NM.

Hello greetings I am currently starting to look for gold in nuggets or rings etc ... which detector I recommend is from Venezuela and really this turns me on someday I want to go to Australia beautiful country. Cheers
Great video, Russell. Excellent footage and your audio for the video for picking up the detector signals is superb. Perhaps a silly question on my part , but would a bandanna sprayed on the outside with high percentage deet (or whatever alternative product) be helpful for reducing the flies under your headnet? As always, enjoyed your very informative and entertaining running commentary. Grats on the beautiful gold. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks mate l can never be sure what the camera picks up but it definitely hears better than me, l do have fly repellent but ultimately you just have to ignore the flies, spit out the ones that make it into the net and stay focused, between the flies, heat and isolation its no wonder there is still gold out there, cheers Russell.
Must be a blessing to be digging in soft sandy ground, instead of the rocks. try to not eat all the flies else it will spoil your dinner, and how do they they inside your netting?
It is mate and l suspect quite deep in places, l doubt l will ever be finished there, flies in my breaky are sultanas and in my coffee they are choc bits or as you see you can swallow them whole, some are only 3mm long and get in small tears in the netting from trees, it amazes me that something that weighs nothing can navigate with ease in 40 knot winds, l love em, cheers NM.
@@fishpest2039 They are only tiny bush flies, they live in the trees and agreed they are annoying but not germ carrying, they love the camera and are always guaranteed, wouldn't be the same without them, but l prefer nuggets so 2 - 10, cheers mate, NM.

Thanks Peter, glad you enjoyed, The WA goldfields consist mainly of stations and most mining leases are staked on the stations, access is still possible by 40e permits, lease holder permission and pending leases, l stay off the smaller lease holder claims and focus on the big company leases when they are pending, l look forward to my first detect in Vic, cheers mate, NM.

Hi, that was a great morning, the detector is a Minelab GPX 4500, its old but still keen, l usually hunt out pending leases around Leonora or ask for permission to detect as long as l tell them what and where l find gold, a GPS is vital in most of these areas for safety, but great fun, exercise and experience, stay safe out there, cheers NM.
Usually on exploration leases with a 40e, having some knowledge of the area narrows it down and l tend to pick up where l left off the yr before, cheers mate.

When I return to Aus I want to take up this amazing skill you have. I know it’s not All beer and skittles but it seems very interesting to me. A good bit of Aussie history I reckon we need to keep it going. Thanks again.
@@mrtracyut No worries, always happy to share and l enjoyed your question, cheers NM.
N.M. I like your hand grip (wood)on your gpx 4500 . Is that all you added besides the coil that's really working great . Best to you ! mel
Yes mate just the grip, l must have been a bit rough with the plastic ones so this has worked out well, stay well mate

Have you stopped making videos? Showing 3 months ago is last new one I've seen. Hope everything is ok. I like the way you work and hope you haven't suffered from covid or fire. Great video by the way👍

Hi Jackie, this year was bad for flies, it stayed warm most of the season with just 1 small break, good for getting out of bed but they are waiting, cheers NM.
Another great video mate: would love to come out bush with you !
Keep them coming: and stay safe 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed mate and should have pt 3 on the table soon, you know its just luck, some even say they have your name on them, its just getting out there and giving it a go, you stay safe too mate, cheers NM.
TheNuggetMagnet I know all about it being luck, l do loads of detecting here in the UK, Bit of know how involved, but mostly luck 👍
It might have been the Main coiltek shop is that in VIC, SA.. they were on the wall in the back ground.
Have you ever collected the dirt you dig out to get to the nugget, classified it and then run it through a sluice, blue bowl or miller table? Did you find any smaller gold?

What’s the biggest nugget you’ve found and I’m taking it that the detector is set not to make noise for iron ore !
@@TheNuggetMagnet I hear ya, but define " l love em" on a scale 1 - 10. for those that detest flies, a solution is available...
@@fishpest2039 They are only tiny bush flies, they live in the trees and agreed they are annoying but not germ carrying, they love the camera and are always guaranteed, wouldn't be the same without them, but l prefer nuggets so 2 - 10, cheers mate, NM.

Hi another great vid I'm seriously thinking about coming to western Australia next year for a month metal detecting for gold could you tell me what permits I'd need etc
Sure mate, google "DMP" and search for Miners Right, its all you need, cheers NM.
Hi mate love the videos, I just have 2 questions, What do you use to clean the gold up and how did you attach your magnet to your pick.
Gidday Reg, if there is no quartz Alibrite will clean them up, it does affect quartz and the magnet being rare earth attaches itself and rarely moves, cheers mate, glad you enjoy.
Nice, I'd have to trip over a nugget so i could afford the detector
Check out the comps in "gold gem n treasure" magazine and you could win one, or start with second hand, nothings out of reach, glad you enjoyed mate, cheers NM.
Good night friend friend I'm in a very researched area here I have a gpx 5000 but people who find more gold here and with gpz 7000 which of the nuggte finder evolution coils can I have a 17x13 or 15 "advantage?
Can you give me one please.
A question, do you find the timber hand grip better, like a lot of things that top stops your hand slipping off [keep it clean}
just wondering mate i see them for sale in a few shops now. cheers Chris.
I do mate, l kept breaking the plastic handles and so far this has stood the test, is it the wooden handles you have seen?

That was a nice little patch, cant wait to get back
Great video as usual.
I detect over here in Vic .
Are you on a lease or a station ?
I know its all alot different from over here .
Thanks for videos keeps me motivated .
Thanks Peter, glad you enjoyed,
The WA goldfields consist mainly of stations and most mining leases are staked on the stations,
access is still possible by 40e permits, lease holder permission and pending leases, l stay off the smaller lease holder claims and focus on the big company leases when they are pending, l look forward to my first detect in Vic, cheers mate, NM.
Hello, I’m a big fan of you, I never asked you, this question! What model detector, would you prefer to use, for gold prospecting? Thank you sir.
I use a Minelab Detector, "Minelab GPX 4500" newer models have been released since, cheers mate.
Worldly food makes it also gourmet
It would be a classic to see each other one day out in the gold fields we could make cicada and fly patties 😋 and a few nice beers to sink it down with, I love me food but more love cooking on the old fire with foods foraged an caught
But out there golds to be found if you this young olman is to make it to simple on river Life 👍💙
Hi what an awesome morning for you,, wonder what detecter your using,, love to know which town you are near as I'm a newbie to this...
I've never camped remote before as well so a little bit nervous. Really good video you have done :)
Hi, that was a great morning, the detector is a Minelab GPX 4500, its old but still keen, l usually hunt out pending leases around Leonora or ask for permission to detect as long as l tell them what and where l find gold, a GPS is vital in most of these areas for safety, but great fun, exercise and experience, stay safe out there, cheers NM.
how do you decide where you detect and is it on mining leases or exploration or pending ect e40
Usually on exploration leases with a 40e, having some knowledge of the area narrows it down and l tend to pick up where l left off the yr before, cheers mate.
SF2020 S in wa you need an 40e form from the mine’s department before you can go detect on a live expiration leases to make it legal you can fill one out on line
Looks like an angel shape ?
lts amazing the different shapes they can come in, mother nature is a true sculpture, glad you enjoyed Joan, cheers NM.
do you find structure and detect that area or do you just detect around until you find some gold
Great question, l am always on the lookout for structure, a small hump in the distance, certain types of rock and hilly country but at the end of the day its walking the beat into areas only accessible by foot, then you are on the lookout for Ironstone outcropping, Pisolite and Greenstone, cheers NM.

You have a new coil from your elite 14 inch how are you finding it. Do you use the same settings as your elite

Are $8000 detectors really that much better than , say, a $1300 Whites?
Absolutely. Watch NM here, (including his older videos), and WestOzAdventures, they use the Aus$10,000 GPZ 7000 and the GPX 5000 worth Aus$5000 and of course Minelab Gold. All these guys use these machines because they definitely pay their way :)
@@2Qwk2C Thanks. Thats bad news for me though. No way can I justify that kind of money. Where I look a piece the size of a dime would be a once in a lifetime find. Almost all are barely big enough to detect. Still, a really good detector keeps praying on my mind.
Gidday mate, l haven't used a whites so couldn`t say but forums and reviews usually give up a fair bit of info,
research what they are finding and at what depth and that will give a fair comparison, you can also get lucky with secondhand 4500,s and 5000,s, heaps cheaper and excellent machines, happy hunting, cheers NM.

@@roysterfutrell8889, I have a GPX 5000 and a trusty old $50 detector I bought from Kmart over 15 ears ago. So far my $50 has found a couple thousand dollars more stuff than the GPX. What you really need to do is sort what you're going to be looking for. Maybe, for those smaller pieces of gold a MineLab SDC 2300 would be the way to go. Second hand they can be quite reasonable.
