Is it possible that the reason the previous air intake was aluminium rapped in a covering because notwithstanding it is intake and should be coolish maybe that are heats up and the new plastic pipe might melt?

The intake doesn't get hot, only a little bit is near the exhaust, but it is still all good 👍🏼
