  • In a special presentation at the Embassy of Japan, Professor Simon Kaner speaks about the surprising number of parallels between prehistoric Britain and Japan when people in both areas built stone circles oriented on the movement of heavenly bodies, venerated their ancestors, and produced elaborate material culture.
    The current exhibition at Stonehenge, Circles of Stone: Stonehenge and Prehistoric Japan, explores what Japan and Britain shared in common 5000 years ago and runs until 3 September 2023. Find out more about the exhibition here:

    Professor Simon Kaner is Executive Director and Head of Centre for Archaeology and Heritage at the Sainsbury Institute and also Director of the Centre for Japanese Studies at the University of East Anglia.
