I live in Australia and I come across this a couple of weeks ago and I decided to get the seeds and now I have two seedlings and they're growing like scenes overnight they're growing every minute and I can't wait to actually plant them in a big pot and see Rosella plant I can't wait I love it they're so healthy and Hardy as a seedling.😀
I planted this year a roselle. I got a nice harvest from it. I enjoyed making a tea from it. I only had one plant. But looking forward, I think I will grow more to be able to have enough to the jam. Thank you for sharing.
I live in 8b northwest Florida near Alabama line. I like the leaves of roselle I recently discovered. I eat them raw, love the tart taste. I also add some to my lemon grass tea, I leave the stem on and dunk it in with my lemongrass wreath that I make from my lemon grass in garden. I like all tea just plain, I love the tart taste of roselle. I eat the leaf except not the stem although I did chew on it then tossed in compost bin. I put some in an okra casserole that I made recently and that was good too. I did recent' homestead update at beginning of the month, part was showing my roselle this year doing so good. I hope to have a good harvest. Last year I only planted two up my my house that didn't make much and early frost got them. This year I'm hoping for a large harvest so I can put some of the calyxes up and maybe try making wine from some of them. My mouth dropped open when you said how many pounds you got last year! I sure hope mine make as good as yours did!
Was so nice to meet you at the Florida meetup thingy this weekend. I had never heard of Roselle until a couple of weeks ago when I saw a couple of videos from channels I follow. YT has opened up a whole new world for us folks here in Mississippi. lol
Nice job! I love roselle. I grew it last year but the calyxes did not mature enough. This year I grew cranberry hibiscus... and much more. Lol So great meeting you at the GC meet up and so many more. 🌱🤗
I missed the Homesteaders event at the fair grounds this weekend. I’m in your area. Will you be hosting any canning classes? Newbie here, and I’m lost.
Roselle is a great plant. I've been enjoying all of its parts in every way I can. I eat the leaves, make tea, juice, wine salad dressing and jam. I live in Vietnam so it grows year round.

Have you tried overwinter one? It says zone 8 to 11... maybe cut one back and put a cover on it for winter 🤔
They grow so fast, it doesnt make sense to overwinter
I'm in central Mississippi and have some growing they look good but when will they flower it's end of September now
I'm in 8b and mine just started flowering. It takes a while. I sowed mine out beginning of May.
The calyx forms after the flower os spent
Thanks you for this video, I never heard of this. I'm going to have Mike plant some of this. Will it grow in Texas? Blessings, Rochelle

I've never even heard of it. I'm in zone 9 in Florida.
You can definitely grow it
What does roselle taste like? Is the tea refreshing in the summer?
Similar to cranberry or tart raspberry
I see you were boiling the seed pods. What did you do with them? Did you harvest seeds for next year?
I boiled them to get the pectin released for jam
I cannot find seeds to grow. Any suggestions?
For Roselle? Oir friends at @hosstools.com sell them.
Where to buy Hibiscus seeds? I’m here in Texas.
I got mine from Hoss Tools
@@HiddenOaksHomestead Thank you!
How did you roast the seed pods?
Covered in olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, then into the oven for 30 min at 400
Is Roselle a Perineal or an Annual?
It can be a perennial in zone 9 and 10. It will not tolerate frost
Where did you get your seeds?
Hoss tools
Could you please give me the exact Latin name?
