@@kevinyoung42 Personally, the Maoist who banned it did China no favours, it actually promoted the Chinese as a peaceful loving people with odd exceptions and it give an insight into modern China. The gay theme, well in some ways it came across as a comedy, which was better in writing, acting and quality than many Western gay films. I think the problem was the obvious emotional attachment between the two leading actors that led it to the stopping of production and it been banned in mainland China.

But overall,both actors have a good chemistry neither in the drama nor real life! 🥺They both even admit it that they express their inner feelings during filming..and bai luo yin(timmy xu) said that he likes jingyu for real which help him to get into the role easily...

It's good it ended there because guess what? Right after that in the book, Gu Hai kidnaps BLY due to his jealousy and then rapes BLY while his hands are bound to the bed. It's a horrific scene and ruins the whole book.

China gov afraid that it might affected their country due to military exposures in this drama(there is a scene when guhai talks about how China military works) .. that's why🙃..some said that china banned it bcoz of lgbt issues which would encourage the youth to be opened with their sex...both actors are also very popular ..jingyu who plays a role as guhai can be categoriesed as 'A' level celebrity..

Most cultures have certain words of respect towards an elder. The English word "sir" doesn't quite hit the same because it's so general. A 60 year old receptionist uses it as a standard greeting to whatever age male is standing before her desk asking for whatever ...

I think that's why in English it's not just the Word, or even the Inflection/Tone, but how often you use a certain term as well. Like a friend's mom might be "Mrs. G" at times, while other times it's the full "Mrs. Godfrey." It's culturally tricky in a way because those learning English as a second language tend to sound overly formal at times because almost every other language and/or culture has more important (and used as such) varying pronouns and words of respect whereas in English we've squandered them all and instead of a magnificent Verbal Yacht of Respect we have a Wordsmith-It-Yourself Leaking Dingy with some Duct Tape holding in the word Sir.
