Luckily, where I live (Wisconsin) it is MANDATORY that ALL Wisconsin citizens recycle (if only they all did...) and our recycling accepts all plastic bottles and containers #1-7 except for thin plastic bags (which have drop off locations). It doesn't make plastic "ok" but it does help a little!
This is a really helpful guide to the different kinds of plastic. Thank you for making and sharing it. I share your loathing of Styrofoam and am super glad that an increasing number of companies seem to be opting for non-Styrofoam packaging.
Thank you so much I very much appreciate you taking the time to make this video I think every piece of it was information on and I did gain a bit more knowledge on what I didn't know I'm with you girl I support recycling 100% so I look forward to maybe collaborating because I also love recycling just as much as you do I feel the same way about it I really do people think I'm weird but I just know how much of a difference that it could make if we could just educate others on it to do the same
I just found your channel by searching for a video just like this. And it is a wonderful one! I know it's a year old, so i don't know if you'll see this, but i think i have a lot of questions that you sound like you'd have well considered answers to. I'll save them right now until i check out the rest of your channel; you might have already answered some of them. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that i really appreciated the video. Great launching point for further research.
yayyy thank you so much! welcome to the channel, I'm glad you liked my more researched topics. They're not all that popular but I love them and think they're SO important!
In the Netherlands every 2 weeks they pick up our plastic garbage. Last time I have seen somebody in my street put old Barbie dolls of her kids in there. I mean, it's plastic right? But wat kind of plastic? 🤔
I don't know if u answer comments but that decor behind your head with the string/yarn did u make that and if u did can u make a video showing how went to the beach the other day and found an amazing peice of drift wood thank u for the amazing videos and all you have thought me so far 😀 😊
I usually use old bread bags as garbage bags when I clean up garbage around the neighborhood. My mom makes fun of me for saving them by calling me an old person lol. Not sure if thats a common thing older people do or if she's just being a goof.
@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist hi there, I was asking the question if this was possible to combine those 4 different types of plastic together? If someone knows if there is a process that can do this to create one single product from all of the above.
That Dart Container factory does have a collection site for re-recycling. 1 of my nieces works there and most of it gets recycled. It's just not publicly collected. A person has to go to the factory.@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist

you just said it's mandatory....but not everyone does it??? how does that work
@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist because no one enforces it 🤷🏻♀️ 🤦🏻♀️
A company called ecovative has figured out a way to replace Styrofoam packaging with biodegradable mushroom packaging.
I LOVE THAT
There’s some videos on melting plastic number 2 at home and making things with it. It would be cool if people could do that safely.
yeah i'm not sure how to do that without proper ventilation

great ideas! i'm always reusing any bag i can find haha
Is there anything I can do besides throwing away small single use plastic trash Such as cheese wrappers or chip bags?
YES!! Eco-bricking! I have a full series about what they are and how to make them on TIkTok but a UA-cam videeo is coming soon :)
but you can also recycle thin plastics at some grocery stores
When recycling plastic 1, 2, 4.& 5 Can they be recycled all together, will they all bond to each other,
I would love to see the sources for this

Um, I've never seen a red Solo cup as number 5. There's a factory making it in my town where my niece works, and number 6 is used.
my bad, still non recyclable!

cool! it's just not curbside recyclable @@ronyerke9250
@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist correct.
