The market cap of Amazon today is $1.7 trillion so 20% of that divided by about 22 people means that each of those $50k investments is now worth more than $15 billion, literally a 300,000x return.
That is like 12,000x return per year non-compounded. No trader can get that amount of return consistently every year. Maybe investment is faster money than trading.
@@2DarkHorizon trading is a scam lmao , it was popular because of insider trading, now with more regulations it doensnt make sense
I bet non of them keep those shares till now...that's the nature of 99.99% of ppl = lack of patience...and long term vision...both are replaced by instant gratification.
Super
Incorrect. Amazon raised more rounds of funding after 1995, so their 20% would have been significantly diluted (assuming no anti-dilution clause in their funding agreements). Bezos himself only owned c40% of Amazon's stock when they IPO'd in 1997.
Imagine being one of those people who put up the 50K. Right now they are Ballin 🤑
5/20 were his relatives

Fortunately, Charlie Rose wore pants for this interview.
You can’t say for sure, there were no waist down camera angles.

Amazon is destroying businesses. Amazon sucks
Lol imagine praising a billionaire...
Yes, I agree.
@@jackb6106 many billionaires deserve to be praised, Jeff isn’t one of them
now amazon became india"s no. one online retailer.
Karan bisht nope it's Flipkart right now
Kalpesh Joshi even one year back it was flipkart
KALPESH JOSHI. Flipkart got bought out by Walmart but Modi actually stopped Amazon from penetrating the Indian market.
WHAT'S THE INTERNET part. That was hilarious XD. Would that be the same question such as what's the blockchain? What's the AI? like all these industry 4.0 questions?
Daaamn being one of those first investors.. 50k early on must be worth an insane amount now
Yes, that $50,000 which if you account for inflation in today's dollars is actually $80,000 but today that brilliant investment is worth $6 Billion. So that means if each of the 22 investors put in their own at that time $50,000, today EACH investor has $6 Billion.
jetliFAN how tf are you doing your math? You know nothing about their investment deal. Surely they made great money on it, but highly doubt it was near 6 billion.
@@jetliigor 16bn now!
imagine how the 48 people must feel who declined the investment. if you put 100k for 2%, it would be worth close to 20 billion today. if you gave him the 1m for 20% because you are a oil taicoon or something, you would be worth more than the grand master bezos himself. jeff owns 16.x %
Assuming you held all your shares for 25 years, yes.
jeff bezos owns 9.33% of amazon now.
Wow. The risk and courage in raising a million from investors when the main question was, ‘what’s the internet’. Incredible
trying to sell cars to people in a country without roads is hard
If Bezos can start selling books on the internet when people don't even know what he internet is, I'm sure the next Jeff Bezos will successfully sell cars to people in a country without roads.
Bezos has the crazy eyes in that thumbnail ... Oh man thats scary 😸😸😸
Thank you so much
All those 22 people would be billionaire by now
god bless him
Soooooo his riskiest move was asking for a million dollar investment? Seems more like the most important moment for Amazon, not its most riskiest.....
risky because the future of Amazon relied on a hard acquisition, plus it was risky because he gave away 20% of his company
it was risky because he needed the million.

Incredible
20% for a Million dollar
That would worth over 320 Billion today
similar story with steve schwarzman raising capital for Blackstone but it was even closer to failing
He also could have mentioned the introduction of Amazon Prime. The company was taking a bath on shipping costs sending everything through the air and it was a huge money-loser for them until they achieved scale. It took real guts to follow through and stick with it until they did achieve scale.
50,000$ in 1995 it's 5 BILLIONS in 2020 that's really nice
Calm down lol not 5 billions
1 million for 20% of Amazon

so what did that 50k translate to todays value?
HabibiGone it translated to $103 billion dollars
Not true, $50k is now worth over $4bn dollars, which is over an 80000% increase, still nowhere near as good as bitcoin
+GoldenYoshi ok what's bitcoin value then?
someone was offered 10,000 bitcoins for 2 pizzas ($30). Now thats worth $140 million. 5 million% increase.
Lmao where you heard that from?

I want meet mr Bezos , how is posible find mr bezos
I had to delete the text for been blocked into not revealing appearing or not to be of secret nature, in consequences appearing on text as impossible to tell the complete secret story, into linked by propaganda nature or the likes, which is false. I highly recommend amazon, you have to know a type of politics to say that in the end. You basically have no other choice. I said a certain % of your puzzle. It's the fartest I can go into it . : )
This 3rd problem creates a little touch of evil and madness to it, but stated as type of corruption. The 3rd problem, I would pay a lot to know secret contracts or not contracts, could be of a mandatory nature selected by the secret service, or another group, like I stated, been from certain bankers, trillionaires of whatever you spell it in english, whichIm not from the US at all, hehe.
The internet? It's just a fad. Don't fall for the hype.
how was he able to meet all these investors?
You can find investors almost everywhere but if you don't have a good product or business to show, nobody will bother responding.

When did he and why did he get $600 million from The CIA? Interesting to see these so called nerds go villain at some point.
Shannon Scott true
He got that money because his system and code in amazon tracks everything you input and then some. In 1999 he was gathering and storing .5gigs of information on all of his customers... The sad thing is, is that back in 1999 he said he would never sell that information to anyone yet $600 million was the buying price of all our information like credit cards, buying practices, phone number, locations , everything. His system literally goes into your pc, gathers all it can and stores it and there is nothing you can do about it other then stay offline and or never shop at amazon!

intx123 it was never a free market in the first place
You're all acting like idiots. Do some research maybe? The CIA asked for a private cloud infrastructure from Amazon. Also, where are you pulling up the $600 million figure? Much better to research something instead of taking everything at face value and calling the guy evil. Sad.
Big k8ssssssss😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
This guy is sooooo fullll of cringe
Nothing about this was cringe, you're just awkward.
So that $50,000 he received from each investor, today their $50,000 investment into amazing is worth $6 BILLION for each of the 22 investors. WOW!!
