    Fr. Pine, in my later years with our grown children having children and providing us with such beautiful grandchildren, I find that I am tempted once again as I was when I was a naive teenager having just entered puberty. The return of this temptation has not only upset my Spiritual life but it has also caused me shame because it leads me to believe that in 40 years of marriage to the love of my life that the many advancements in my Spiritual life have been a delusion. I have listened to you, a young priest no older than my children, and have come away so Spiritually fulfilled that everything has settled down within my soul and I will not allow this temptation to take root as a means to discourage me any longer than it has. The Soul of The Apostolate is back on my nightstand. God Bless you!

    I used to think russel Brandt was quick and I could barely keep up with him. Fr. Pine’s vocabulary blows my mind. And yet, it’s still so clear! This was great. I just went to confession and needed this! I felt like the priest was too easy on me 😂, but this was perfect timing and made me feel absolved and more forgiven. Thank you!

    What makes me ashamed and sad is that we offend God knowingly.
    However, I have come to conclusion that God is just and see our hearts.
    We work to renounce anything that separate from Him of course with the help of the Holy until we are called home.

    One thing I struggle with is using confession as a crutch for my sins. Whenever I am most tempted to sin, I often tell myself that I will just go to confession the next day, which compels me to sin even more. I always feel shame when I go to confession because I feel like I am just using it as a "cheap grace" and yet I sin anyway. Does anybody else face the same temptation?

    • @mrplurpat10

    • @deluge848

      My issue is that I don't deliberately sin with full consent of my will (usually, anyways) but afterwards I'm pretty shameful because in confession I say, "I FIRMLY RESOLVE with the help of your grace, to sin no more." But I don't fully apply that several times throughout each day. I'm trying to get better, it's tough being only human after all. Never give up on confession and find a good, holy, spiritual priest to guide you. Don't be to tough on yourself, but definitely strive for holiness, it's a nonstop daily battle, but so worth running and winning the race!!! 😇

      Sinning willfully is very grave. Unless you truly feel contrite and remorseful for doing so, the absolution given by the Priest at the end of your confession is useless. Pray for the discipline to resist the sin so that the devil flees. Also, pray for true humility and trust in God. God bless you!

    I’m so thankful that I have been born again through Jesus Christ, and that my old sinful life has been exchanged and transformed into a new life, a new creation. Now I don’t need to worry anymore about shame, because God’s grace is sufficient, and the sacrifice has already been made. I don’t need to worry about studying complex terminology or descriptions about how shame works and how it can be beneficial. I’m so thankful to have a Savior that it causes me to not want to sin, and repentance for sins that I do commit comes naturally. Praise Jesus Christ my Lord 🙏🏻

      Mmmm. This sounds a lot like presumption. It’s also very very similar to the prayer of the Pharisee in Luke, the tone and even the very structure of the words are such a direct parallel. Remember the New Creation verse comes from 2nd Corinthians, a Letter to a Church utterly wallowing in sin and division (see 1st Cor 1, 5, 11 etc) . We are all New Creations thanks to faith, but the one jumping up and down bearing it as some kind of exclusive possession without sympathy for the vast majority of the elect who in broken humility struggle with sin (St Paul included - see the letter you quoted chapter 12) looks more like an old creation because of the pride. Remember “I shall root out from among you your proudly exultant ones” Zeph 3

    Inordinate shame should be addressed as well since shame could be used to build an evil generation. "I feel ashamed for being smarter"; "I feel ashamed for being privileged", "I feel ashamed for being good looking" etc... And if shame begets humility, you'll ever only be a child.

    Father, what are you supposed to do if the shame isn't coming from something you've done, but coming as a result of being bullied? I've been called tacky, dinky, unfit for my job, my roommates say they shouldn't have to live with my boxes when I've packed up my part of the apartment. I've been yelled at and cornered. I have had my head down for more than a year.

    Shame is not good. Shame needs to be replaced with Godly Sorrow. Shame is the inability to self reflect. It can become self idolatry or Denial. This is where people seek after self punishment, flogging. They push it down further or manifest new coping mechanisms. They project. Again, seek godly wisdom and sorrow & rebuke all shame. Do not stress the act of sin so much as the bondage which forms as the result of the act.

      @@el_killorcure Yes, of course, but Peter committed a shameful act in denying that he knew Christ to a lowly servant girl. Of course that was a terrible act, but Peter acted out of weakness while Judas Iscariot acted out of hardened contempt for what Christ was. The Sanhedrin also acted out of malice and refused to repent, even after Christ raised not only Lazarus from the dead in front of them, but himself too.

    • @el_killorcure
      @el_killorcure 2 роки тому +1

      @@magaman6353 Peter was scared crapless of being arrested on the spot, especially when others starting accusing him not just that woman.
      Remember everyone ran away into the night but him, only he is reported to have followed Jesus to Caifas's house. Gotta give him that credit, at least he tried (then again, who heard Jesus and Pilate spoke if not Peter who had ran away crying before that, and that rapport ended up only in the gospel account of John?).
      As for the Sanhedrin, did Peter not state in Acts they acted out of ignorance? Jesus only explicitly denounced the group denying the cured blind man and accusing him of being demon possessed (when they could no longer deny his miracles), not the whole Sanhedrin body which only accused him of blasphemy and sedition (remember how Gamaliel, Paul's teacher, warned the Sanhedrin against killing them lest they they would end up fighting against God, and his advice was followed).

    Yeah there’s only two types of shame,Sincere shame which a sinner in the Catholic Church is deeply pierced throughout his or her entire being with the most painful,guilty,regretful hurting in one’s self for offending the sweetest most merciful caring loving Lord Jesus Christ for abusing his Mercy and Good.And there’s the moderate type of shame where a sinner in the Catholic Church feels a short time of sorrow or hurt for offending God but as time goes on he or she just naturally forgets about their past sins and what offends God and just falls into presumption on God’s mercy

The world is messed up because of the fall of man as a result of the temptation of satan. It isn't God's fault. Christ coming to the world to save us is only a good thing and not a bad thing. It would seem that both you and Thomas almost never cite God's Word. Why not? That to me, as a follower of Christ, is incomprehensible.
    In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God...
    In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
    John 1:1‭-‬2‭, ‬4‭-‬5
    One other thing. Did you know that toward the end of Thomas Aquinas' life he had some sort of encounter with the Divine while saying Mass, as a result of which he said that all he had written was "straw", and we know that he was a prodigious writer. He must have meant what he said because he left his Summa Theologiae unfinished.
    Isaiah 50:7
    But the Lord God helps me;
    therefore I have not been disgraced;
    therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.
    but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
    1 John 1:7‭-‬9
    I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces will never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them. O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
    Psalms 34:4‭-‬8
    And a thousand other scriptures ...
