as someone whose lost someone dear recently, this always makes me cry. so beautiful. i’m learning to sing it and play it on my lyre as a tribute too. RIP M.
I missed her in my first playthrough, I met her in the grove in my DU playthrough and listened to her sing. She inspired my Monk Drow to Resist the Urge with her song. she inspired her to try and be good and save the tieflings and see that despite the darkness in her, there is a bright flame lighting the way.
My favourite moment so far between all the crazy shit happening was just my entertainer monk solemny and wisely nudging her in the right direction to solve this song. Made me feel so fucking wholesome haha
Here I am, big fan of aggressive music, always in super edgy clothes, looking emotionally cold anywhere I go. Yet 40 minutes into the game this made me cry lol.
I honestly cried a little when I first heard it. I didn't expect something so... beautiful to surprise me while I was running around, preparing to put the last goblin boss in the ground. For that, and a few other little moments that genuinely pulled my heartstrings, I tip my hat off to Larian.
I don’t think that it sounds the same. Maybe because the voices of the bardes are nearly the same. But the melody doesn’t sound like it. Also personally I think this is way better than overrated wolven storm

...I mean its a different tone for sure, but this one's vocals needed help, there was a very jarring key change in this, it wasn't that it wouldn't work compositionally, but it was very clear that lower of the two keys was much less comfortable for the singer than the high key was, it sounded forced or artificial, not at all a natural key for the singer's voice to hit.

I feel like this song is great for contextualizing Alfira and humanizing the tiefling refugees. This is the song of a woman who misses her music teacher who presumably was killed during their migration. By Act 2, the Shadow-cursed lands don’t really give an atmosphere for such reflection, and by Act 3 everything is so busy and so much stuff has happened, that Alfira has no need to look at her past with her music teacher, but rather the future with her love of teaching music to children. This song is an introduction, not an ending, so I personally think it fits perfectly where it is.

Felt really fitting for me. It really depends what you do beforehand-I had just reunited the scared girl with her parents.
