Lovely Video guys, great to see memories are kept alive hey and new ones made
Such memories. I arrived in Australia in 1985. I lived in Sydney but had to go to Brisbane for work on a regular basis. For the first few years I flew with Ansett into the old airport. I remember the first time - an open sided luggage hall blew my mind.
I remember a taxi driver telling me the new airport would soon open.
Then it was Expo88 and the charming big country town pulled it off and became an international city. I confess - I never thought they would achieve it, but the whole state got behind it and made it happen. I re!ever how proud everyone was.
and they had a new airport that was ready in time.
I remember getting on a bus and walking on the new runway before the new runway was opened...
I remember Ron from primary school. We both went to St Brendan's at Moorooka. Ron lived down the road from me in Forest Street. His father was a bank manager and he received a transfer to North Queensland and we lost contact after that.
That was really great to watch. Does Brisbane Airport have old films of Brisbane Airport back in the day of old Ansett and TAA please that be interesting to watch ?
Not specifically, from time to time we get old home movies that have been digitised. This video has a little bit of historical footage in it. ua-cam.com/video/XebktaZwl_A/v-deo.html
We need better access to the Southern Cross, or perhaps it moved to a more accessible location, no one knows it's there anymore.
