I knoow, people dislike Sai a lot but holy damn was his dynamic with Naruto & Sakura funny. Plus his backstory was so intriguing and fascinating. Great character.
I actually like her. Poor woman has to deal with either a guy occasionally turning into a naked woman or another guy with no sense of when to shut up. No wonder she expodes so easily.
I honestly consider Sai a true team 7 member, unlike Sasuke. He was the one who went miles to be accepted by them, he was reading books so he could understand others, he practiced what he learned (with poor results but still). Meanwhile Sasuke literally tried to kill all of his team members, including their teacher.

I hate what they did to him in shippuden - i guess the writer decided that since Naruto is supposed to change and grow up a bit, then someone else has to be the village idiot now, and unfortunately they decided Kiba needs to be that idiot. I blame it on bad writing, he really was a good character, i was surprised people didn't like him. But well, i guess i've got unpopular opinions in general, on most characters (i like Sakura for example and i'm not Itachi's fan).

To be clear he learned to say the opposite of what he was thinking. So he thought `ugly`, inner Sakura getting overjoyed because he would insult Ino, but said beautiful thus making Ino blush and Sakura rage.

I love how their relationship together with yamato developed. I honestly felt heavy at the start of shippuden/the formation of their team, it started like they were just being plastic to each other, as if u wont know who's betraying who and of course sai and yamato are new additions to the anime and we got used to sasukr and kakashi. Who wpuldve thought that their relationship would turn into something more comical and fitting than when they were teamates with sasuke. Even yamato and naruto's relationship was so good and hilarious!

I think ever since they slightly took away sai's social confusion and direct unfiltered thoughts he became less interesting, I loved him as part of team 7 trying to always give people nicknames and trying to be a normal human without knowing how
