"He was so ashamed of his cruelty as a God that he simply ceased to exist" GAGGED, YOU ATE THAT UPPP
Hell and Corrupted Heaven existing because God got criticized once sounds like a Smiling Friends bit and I love it
She ate him up so much he vanished, she girl bossed too hard frrrr 😜🙄
Honestly, I'd be going out for milk too, if my creation was still doing some dumb shit even after Jesus sacrifice, and heaven being corrupted
Extra layer of awesome here is that it implies god is also too attached and too weak willed to CHANGE this, so he gives up. Which sets the tone for the entire plot of the show- Charlie breaking the mold to prove things CAN CHANGE
Fr
Tbh I hate that Heaven are the antagonists. The show should have been the sinners facing their demons and fighting their past and Charlie proving Hell wrong. Adam and Sera made Alastor's entire existence pointless because Alastor was supposed to be the face of trying to discourage Charlie's goal.
Why does she need Heaven as antagonists when the entirety of Hell and Alastor have a good point enough already?
It shouldn't be, "sinners can't ascend because they're innocent and Heaven are meanie heads that won't let them", it should be "sinners can't ascend because they need their own reasons to do better, and rehabilitation can get them through that process to becoming better people".
"The rules are shades of gray, when you don't do as you say"
Well if life has gray areas, then why the hell am I being subjected to some very black-and-white thinking!? It's toxic (enough to become addictive like a real life recreational drug for me)!
Yeah, it definitely mess with the redemption aspect of the show. Of course these characters aren't paragon of virtues, but often enough, the show seems to lean more on the fault of the institution than any personal problems.
I'm not sure Heaven itself is the antagonist? With what we know thus far, it seems to be a case of a few bad actors (namely Sera, Adam, and Adam's army), rather than all of Heaven. The exterminations were a secret known only by those three parties. I personally suspect the theme is going to be "people are more nuanced than just either good or bad" rather than "sinners are innocent and Heaven is mean." Like Angel Dust is implied to be former mafia, in which case he definitely played a part in ruining people's lives, intentionally or not. If you think about it, the concept of Heaven and Hell in itself is too black and white.
I also never got the impression that Alastor's purpose was to discourage Charlie's goal. Sure, he thinks redemption is "whacky nonsense," but he still lends his assistance and supplies her with staff. He seems more of a "is he friend or foe?" trickster type character with his own agenda.
Also, Adam was a bland villain, in a sense that he was PAPER THIN. To counter that, people said “the whole point of his character is that he has no likable traits, and that you’re just meant to despise him.” But judging by the ending of the show and how the fanbase has completely romanticized him, I feel this falls flat.
i really think heaven should’ve been the antagonist of a later season, start small and build up kind of way
You giving Charlie an actual reason to have conflict with her father and giving her a pretty good backstory is so cool! This is one of the coolest UA-cam video I have ever seen, your voice is extremely captivating and youre a very creative person
This is personally why I’m subscribing this critique is well done and i wish this is what hazbin hotel was
I love this show, but the fact that Charlie's runnin a rehab hotel and didn't think of hiring a *therapist* boggles me bruh
I mean to be fair, I don’t think there’s any therapists in hell lol
@@whiteasparagus4331If there are, they definitely aren’t very good.
There is unironically a rehab center in hell in Helluva Boss, the other Viv cartoon, so xD
@@nectarinn3 Not wrong in Sloth lol but in fairness, that rehab is only for hellborns since they have no desire (nor any means) to get to heaven, that rehab is more for what we would get on earth like drug addictions and such (hence Verosika and Barbie Wire). Hazbin is just for sinners as it was originally intended to help redeem sinners to save them, but that's also part of the idea for Charlie's flaws there. She really means well, but the activities there are so basic that it comes off more like a summer camp and she's a camp counselor where the ideas are cluelessly condescending, and she's my favourite character! But I think now with the revelations about Heaven and such, the Hotel would just be more of means just to help sinners be better people in general so they can live happier lives in hell, to which then we could also see Charlie making better decisions now that Lucifer is involved too.
@@whiteasparagus4331honestly while I don't think there's many people in the pride ring that would qualify as therapists, or at least not good therapists, there's a lot of hellborns that i think prove there can be good therapists in hell.
There's Tex who is definitely one of the most chill hellborn we've seen in the helluverse and while I don't think he himself would qualify as a therapist he is proof that there are people chill enough in hell to at least come close to qualifying, and even in terms of actual medical professionals like that one candle goat doctor demon in one of the helluva boss episodes who seem patient enough to deal with even the most violent people.
And if not those people, even higher ranked demons like stolas, Beelzebub and asmodeus could absolutely qualify. Maybe asmodeus could specifically help with lust related issues in the hotel patrons while stolas could deal with the actual logistics and laws since he literally helped asmodeus with a contract to get fizz back, and Beelzebub can literally sense vibes and tell when someone's having issues considering she could tell blitz's drunk partying did not come from a place of just enjoying himself. Even if you don't take them into account, in one helluva boss episode that shows a commercial of the fizzarolli robots there's literally one made to be a therapist so it does prove professional therapists do exist at least for hellborns.
Sorry for saying so much I just didn't know how to shorten all of this.
just to sum up your video, hazbin hotel is a show to turn your brain off too and watch. Cause the moment you try to watch it for lore purposes, it falls apart, just like fnaf after ultimate custom night
The fact that you think Fnaf lore made sense and was coherent before UCN means that you’ve lost any right to talk about whether or not a plot makes sense
@@FloofMotherThe moment the FNAF lore went beyond spooky children haunting animatronic suits into genuinely trying to convince the audience that human bodies are somehow piloting the animatronics like a mechsuit is when it started to go off the rails… and that was by the third game lol
@@catcactus1234 the second game took away everything that made the first game actually worth playing with its aesthetic and art style. Also the lore in that game is broken but that only happened later on so it’s not 2’s fault. What *is* it’s fault is the utter lack of anything interesting going on with the animatronic designs
@@FloofMother i guess he was just referring to the incredibly sci-fi plot of new fnaf and how it's completely detached from the original plot. but anyway, new or old fnaf, the lore never made sense to begin with. Scott either made it too vague or invented as he went along then pretended the retcons weren't that bad. over time, it became the staple of fnaf: vague, confusing and ambiguous lore. at least that's now the point of fnaf. but hazbin's lore shouldn't be as vague, confusing or ambiguous as it is. it's a show I could really only enjoy by turning off my brain.
My main critique about the characters is that we're always TOLD that they are powerful and we're just supposed to believe it instantly?? and they don't even try to showcase their powers further than "lol look they killed some unimportant characters for comedic value"
I think the issue is that it feels like they really DON’T want this to result in some big epic fantasy story where we are told the power system or whatever and keep everything down to earth in a sort of political/crime thriller, which results in me wondering if “power” means like actual magic power or just political power and how wide the gap actually is
@@adamzielke3541 you put my thoughts into words so perfectly omg
@@adamzielke3541
That’s definitely a good point, but also we’re kinda shown that the two forms of power seem to be interwoven. Like that having more financial/political power also provides you a certain supernatural power. Like we see the deals that are made literally bind a sinner to the owner via sometimes visible ghost chain.
Okay but…. Someone please get this guy a contract. Like please. I loved Hazbin Hotel so much and this is definitely a different story, but it’s frickin amazing nonetheless. Does ANYBODY here have a contact???? 😭
HAHAHA
I’d help with the production! Like, _any_ part of the production
Literally, same. I don’t feckin care.
@@Thenames_sushihave you ever want to communicate with vivziepop? Because I want to address this issue too.
@@Thenames_sushi hey man, ya know that this plot works perfectly with ULTRAKILL
If they wanted to show Angel Dust redeeming himself; they shouldn't have gone whole hog. They could have built some tension and drama in the court scene by showing him struggling to ignore his vices to help Husker wrangle Nifty. He can still overcome it in the end, and it would still show improvement without jumping so far ahead in his development.
its becuase big company got hold of the hosting and they probbaly wanted to shovel as much story as possible in one go.
@@NightmareRex6honestly, I still feel as though if this was still mostly in Vivzie’s hands, I don’t think the series would be that good, like Helluva Boss. We only have about 5 episodes where they go into the human world to do their job, the rest is melodrama with Blitzø and Stolas with some Moxie thrown in there.
I feel like the show was made for the fans that have been there since the pilot rather than anyone else
That is 100% correct.
It was because this show can barely stand on it's own without it.
Real
I've been a fan for years. definitely not since the Zoophobia days but I've been here before the show and waited years for it. doesn't mean either that I liked it when I came out. It could use a lot of improvements. A LOT.
2:17 gotta love how Charlie is above the Seven Deadly Sins and yet knows absolutely nothing about the world around her
I hate the extra stuff in Helluva because due to the shows being separate in means the Princess of hell can’t interact with like 85% of her Kingdom, and I feel like if she did we would risk getting SUPER distracted from the main plot
@@adamzielke3541 YOU GET IT
@@Thedaisyda1sy Like How the Hell does this place even work?
From Hazbin, it seems like Lucifer has just been depressed all this time, Lilith was rallying the Sinners, and Charlie was.......who TF know what she has been doing for the presumable centuries she's been alive before starting the Hotel. So were the other Sins and Goetia just watching from the side and doing their own shit?
People like to say that "Lucifer does care about the Hellborn" and cite the "No Hellborn killed on Extermination Day" rule (which just seems to partially exist to keep the two plots separate along with the "Sinners can't leave Pride" rule) and him having Lu Lu World. But looking at him in the show I honestly wonder why he is King at all. He hates Sinners and we can't see him interact with the Hellborn due to the legal BS (until Viv can get him into Helluva with the other Sins but that is YEARS down the line atm).
I would love to see Charlie BE the Princess of Hell and interact with her Kingdom's more direct and personal problems and all of the other corrupt people in it OTHER than the Exterminations, but NOPE!

husk has the right to express his irrtation and defend himself but it was uncalled for to reveal the most private thing about everyone of what they either told him private when they were not thinking clearly what he picked up about their aura or both he didn't need to expose everyone in front of everyone that includes angel dust but isn't limited to him some things are justfied others aren't
I agree with this! Although personally I thought that scene was just supposed to be really sh1tty exposition lol. They didn’t have time to show you the characters flaws, so they had the bartender point to each one and state them aloud.
@@Thenames_sushi well at least it can show you when husk is justified and uncalled for even though it seemed like it was just the creators way of telling everyone's weakness flaws problems issues and struggles
@@Thenames_sushiIt was definitely a “Tell” Not “Show”. Instead of showing those characters flaws through actual scenes and interactions, they made Husk just… spill the beans. Like when He said that Vaggie hates everything because she hates herself? I literally would never of thought about that unless Husk just said it.
@@SoraTheSeaIsBlue you saw her get ready to punch sir pentious and growls at husk and gets frustrated you saw how she reacted to angel dust alastor and even sir pentious when she was like what are you doing yes that's a okay question to ask but the way she asked it and how she reacted to emily and saint peter and she called the sinners blood thirsty and dragined even her being a neat freak stated by the creator could be part of that
@@michalelkin-bronner7958this comment was so hard to decipher so sorry if i’m getting it wrong… but all of that just shows she has a quick temper, it doesn’t show that the reason for it is a deep self hatred - which is where the shitty exposition comes in. and it’s not like viv can’t write those types of characters… just look at blitzø
While I agree with your criticisms about the meeting and Adam announcing that they will be back in six months instead of a year, in the beginning of the scene when Charlie goes to the meeting a paper appears Infront of her before entering it and she mindlessly signs it, later in the song when Adam announces that they will be back in six months he s holding that very paper that Charlie signed. Implying that this happened because Charlie was careless and signed it without reading the contract dooming hell in an externination sooner. Ofc they went nowhere with that, while you would expect it to be something big that Charlie doomed them in a sooner extermination but well....
I very much suspect the strange writing of the show was an effort to not look like they were cribbing from “the good place” which basically did the concept Hazbin wanted to do but even in its first season handled it better.
You could tell that Vaggie's backstory plot twist of being a fallen angel is basically Viv took from fan theory because it sounds cool to her. 😑
I think its done pretty well in the show though and its extremely obvious that she's an exorcist anyways
Maybe it’s just that the theory happened to be right?
Yeah becuse nothing changes from pilot to show.
This. It annoys me so bad because I would switch Charlie making the hotel in lieu to her father for Charlie making the hotel for her Vaggie, but Vaggie being a sinner instead. It feels like more of an authentic reason. Vaggie being an ex angel just feels like a cheap plot twist.
And all my headcanons went to the trash, even though they were very brutal
Valentino is pretty consistent with how abusers actually act, at least in my experience. They are very different around different people but they are also a threat. Ppl can be goofy & serious at the same time lol
The complaint that Valentino is "inconsistent" is so squicky to me for this exact reason. Bad people aren't sinister and evil 100% of the time, and to depict them as such is irresponsible and damaging to real-life abuse survivors. Because as you said, how they act around their peers is very, very different from how they act around their victims.
@@FoxMoon89personally I think calling abuse survivors “losers” for developing coping mechanisms after being sex slaves is more damaging but w/e
@@FoxMoon89also he is evil all the time. When he’s not abusing Angel dust he’s screaming and assaulting other people. Theres only one scene where he’s not being evil (hugging Vox) but it’s already confirmed that these two cannot stand each other lol.
@@Birdyboys You're somehow both proving my point and missing it entirely. "Not being evil all the time" doesn't mean otherwise being kind or "good" - just that they don't spend every minute of every day abusing their victims. Abusers can be monstrous, but they're still just people. And like everyone else, they have friends or allies and outside hobbies.
And Valentino is a perfect example of this: look at how he acts when he's alone with Vox and Velvet (his allies) vs. those he sees as inferior. He's flirtatious with Vox in E2, and he's calm and/or cheerful throughout all of E8 while alone with the other Vees.
Like I said, how bad people treat their friends/allies is vastly different than how they treat their victims. That doesn't inherently mean being good or BFFs to their friends/allies, or that they even like them. But there is some level of equal footing or amicability never afforded to their victims.
So when abusers in media are depicted solely as evil and threatening, it makes it harder for RL victims to be believed. People want to believe that all abusers are easily identifiable monsters, when the reality is that they come from all walks of life.
@@Birdyboys Re. "loser" - I apologize in advance because putting my feelings on this into words is tricky and not something I can condense. I have no experience with SA, but I have been bullied, emotionally abused, and made to feel disposable.
Words have power, and some words are too synonymous with hate or cruelty to ever be anything else. But most words are weaponized via connotation, intent, and/or context, rather than by definition. And sometimes, subverting that power brings comfort against feeling powerless or hopeless, especially with positive support and/or coping skills to aid in self-acceptance and self-forgiveness.
For me, owning a word meant to hurt or insult was empowering, a coveted thing among myself and those I know respect me, who've also experienced pain/cruelty and made dark humor into a tool for coping and fellowship.
It's a way a of laughing in the face of darkness when there's little to nothing you can do to change or escape it. A way of reclaiming just a little power by ripping away a word's negative connotations and reshaping it into something empowering or of solidarity. A way to defy the idea that being broken is something chosen or deserved.
Words like "cripple" can't hurt me when I've made it my own and turned into a inside joke. "Loser" can't be used to belittle me when it's become a word of commiseration and camaraderie among friends. And "geek" and "nerd" haven't just lost their power to ridicule, they're now proudly worn self-identifiers by hundreds of people.
That said, I find no fault with abusive survivors who disagree. Their feelings and perspectives are no more and no less valid than my mine. What's important is mutual respect and empathy. Because trauma has only one universal aspect: a negative, long-lasting impact.
I feel like at this point, anyone but viviennes team can write a good show with the material they had. Like every single reimagining video is great and its so frustrating the canon is so disapointing.
I am obsessed with the rewrite section of this video and it makes me wish I existed in an alternate universe to be able to see how it cOULDVE BEEN
“Im not saying im better than the hazbin hotel show writers” YES YOU ARE. EMBRACE IT.
2 months late, but i agree so hard. Its WAY more interesting than the actual show
as an animator, believe me, the final designs on the actual show were not adapted for animation at all
OH THIS REWRITTEN PLOT EATS I LOVE THIS SO MUCH???
Alastor fr:
"Charlie, we can't both exist. I'm going to become half of you. And I need you to know that every moment you kick angel ass, every moment you love yourself, that's me loving you and loving being you. Because you're going to be something extraordinary, Charlie. You're going to be god."

a lot of things in Hazbin are inspired by Steven Universe as a whole, and its kind of hard to not notice lol
- vaggie and camilla are supposed to mirror connie and pearl, even to the point of vaggie and connies names rhyming
- lucifer’s face and hair is inspired by pearl’s design
- both charlie and steven have star themes and have moms that are M.I.A (tho for different reasons)
- lucifer is written like greg in the sense where he instantly “gets the (powerful) girl”
- both lucifer and greg are the depressed single dads who have a somewhat awkward relationship with their kids at one point
RAAAAAGHHHHH. Bro I have such mixed feelings about hazbin hotel. For one, it has done some really good things for indie animation, people are taking it seriously now. Plus, it actually does have some cool ideas and story bits. BUUUUTTT it’s so incredibly flawed, my frustration grows every time I think about it too much because all I can think of is how good it COULD have been. So many people have come up with amazing alternative routes for the story, but that’s not what we got. I love your version so so much, I wish we could have gotten it.
This is so real i miss pilot niffty and alsator
“R we in Philly, cause boy do we have plot holes.” I’m deceased.😭
your au is WAY better than the actual show /srs
You know it’s always the guys who’ve had Dave Strider profile pics that are good enough writers to somehow fix the mess of a story that is Hazbin Hotel.
LITERALLY one fix for everything wrong with the show would be for charlie to keep her identity secret
why? her family has a past with heaven and are widely hated. and also she wants to prove that she can do sth by herself.
the demons mistreat her? bc they don't know she's the princess.
no one pays attention to her? bc no one knows she's the princess.
she doesn't ever use her powers? to keep her identity secret.
she has a strong bond with vaggie? bc vaggie is the only one who knows.
alastor pursues her? bc he knows she has to be the princess and her soul would make him very powerful.
a good overarching conflict? vaggie insisting charlie goes public and uses her princess status for good, meanwhile keeping her own exterminator past a secret. lack of trust and honesty from both sides, that paired with a two-timing overlord and the clean-and-simple job of determining the morality of sinners, all culminating in the ultimate betrayal, reveal and showdown and bam you have yourself a plotline!
edit: just finished watching your edition of it. it's so much more satisfying than the original ! :]
i LOVE everything about your rewrite for the series, but i honestly would also love to see sir pentious act as a "snake" that is sent to the hotel posing as a sinner seeking refuge when he's actually working for one of the overlords who want to take down charlie's hotel... really helps make it feel like the hotel is actually under threat too. later it's revealed that he's been a double agent this whole time, but realizes he cares for his new found family and sacrifices himself for the hotel
11:15 a i think that if Adam acted a little more like Gabriel the angel from ultra kill he would’ve been more interesting and indearing. A seemingly relaxed and professional person that turns into a ball of rage when his power is threatened by someone he considers inferior
I loooooove your plot it’s amazing please give this man a show
i dont watch hh but i need to see this premiere.
woah, your voice sounds amazing ! i haven’t heard your voice since rockabye and i just wanna say it’s really nice
22:36 OH MY GOD DUDE YOU THOUGHT UP OF THE SAME BACKSTORY I DID FOR HER!!! I LOOOOVE THE IDEA OF CHARLIE BEING A BASTARD DAUGHTER OF LUCIFER AND EVE. ITS SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING AND HER DADDY ISSUES MAKE MORE SENSE!!!!!! I LITERALLY SHOUTED "YES" OUT LOUD WHEN YOU SAID THAT
I would KILL to have ur version of hazbin hotel made into an actual show omg I was watching that part like a baby sensory video
I interpreted Vaggie serving Charlie the same way the other angels feel a drive to serve Adam.
I have already seen re-writings of the show before, but yours is probably the best one i saw until now. It feels genuinely interesting and solid! Also your video is very well made!
ROCKABYE MUSIC IN THE BG JUMPS FOR JOY
I really like your ideas for a hazbin hotel rewrite, but what would happen to the people in the fire ring? since that is used to kinda keep most of the sinners/contractors in-line, could we get some exploration on that? Also, how does the physical environment of hell specifically impact the characters who live there? I think that would be something very fun to go into depth about as well.
Great question! The fire ring is where sinners would be tortured in the more traditional sense. It would be kind of a metaphor for the American prison system! As for the physical environment of hell, I’d like to think that it is always annoyingly warm/humid. Not boiling or anything, but it’s enough to drive you crazy if you think about it.
Got whiplash seeing this was posted by sushi soucy
There are probably reasons for many of the points you've made here 18:54 that Viv and her crew didn't have time to put into the show or didn't know how to, but as it is, hell doesn't make sense. Keep in mind this is coming from a fan of her work. Before I go any further into what I'm about to say, I want to make this clear: I love the show we got. Not one moment did I wish one thing was different from the other (okay, the comedy NEEDED backup, but Niffty did help with that) and if I could, I'd wipe my brain of the show and experience all the wonderous emotions of watching a show I've been waiting five years for... Christ, has it been that long? FU-. Okay, enough being a fanboy me, onto the video. First, I love what you did with Viv's universe. You really made it your own and made something unique and interesting, and hell, the whole video was brilliant, and the points you made were spot on. It's fun seeing what people do with Hellaverse, and I've always formed the idea that it's more of a sandbox for fans to play in. People can have different ideas of how this hell works. Hell, I've made my own version of this hell, and it's sh@t! Not in that it's boring, but that if you're not a person of power, it's the worst life ever. Sure, it keeps the vibes and colours and aesthetic, but there are some serious topics I've shoved into this world: Classism, Mortality, Morality, How systems can be corrupted and how those said systems can lead to more pain and suffering. I've made hell a hierarchical hell hole that only leans towards the people with money and power, or if your lucky and get born as a Demon royal, and if your anyone else, you're screwed. Okay, I've made it sound a bit more bleak than it is, but get the picture.
Okay, that's enough of me, have a good day, keep up the fantastic work, bye!
OH MY GOODDD THIS IS AMAZING!!!! i absolutely love how drawn out the plots are. every twist is so masterful and beautifully written. the revolution against heaven is very similar to sisyphus from ultrakill’s revolution against heaven and the curroption and loss/dissapearence of god is very similar but so different and i absolutely adore it. you are an amazingly talented and unique author with a brilliant mind and beautifully vibrant imagination!!
Vaggie getting surprised angels can be hurt by angelic weapons always gets me upset she's an angel who was hurt by an angelic weapon???
I think the one thing you forgot to mention is how Charlie has the IQ of a brick. And, it's unfortunately to the show's detriment.
Hi! You're my favorite musical artist (I even had an obsession with rockabye) your new hazbin hotel plot is AMAZING! the only thing it's missing is some lore with the other characters but I'm sure that would have just been a background thing that was too unimportant be included in the actual plot
I love "I deserve to bleed"!
My bpd inner teen feels valid and seen, noticing she's wasn't alone in her emotions and chaotic mind.
The song can be triggering if you're not in a good point in your life or lacking a healthy mindset but it brings me nostalgia and remembering surviving some trying times and being able to get better.
I actually really like this video, maybe it’s because you’ve actually been watching since the pilot but you actually have good reason for what you’re saying, good solutions and don’t just make fun of it because everyone else is. I like your version of the story much better actually and I do think the pacing and storyline in the og is kinda strange because they were only given 8 episodes and they didn’t really know if they were getting more so they took advantage of the opportunity but still I’m happy they even got the chance, it’s a win for indie animation to be taken seriously and made into a real show
as an sa victim i will never forgive that they literally hired a r@pe fetishist on the team to work on a series that’s supposed to represent sa. also how it was marketed was disgusting, addict is fucking horrible 😭 i would try and give this show a chance if not for that
I agree with your point on Angel. He pushes people's boundaries in ways that border on harassment. I'm not trying to say that the show is villainizing him in this way or that Angel is a terrible character for that, but he does not face narrative consequences. There is a difference between making ocassionally making dirty quips and flirting with a man that very clearly is not interested and asserted such. Even with the additional context that Husk pokes at Angel's 'persona', it doesn't feel like a fair fight if Angel retaliates with what he does.
Your version of HH is AMAZING, I wish that show existed, the whole sirpentious (idk how to write that) is AMAZING, Charlie being the daughter of Eve???? Is way better than the Lilith Lucifer stuff, I love this so so much this is so good, I kiss your brain
Honestly... the main problem I see with Hazbin Hotel is it trying to be kind of a social commentary while falling flat because of how indelicately (to say at least) they are treated. I could talk about this for hours honestly. And for god's sake, because of the pacing it feels like you're missing a big chunk of the show most of the time. Tbh it's one of the biggest problems of the show because it leads to other things like breaking the "show, not tell" rule because there's no time to actually show things.
Another problem might be that... there are... no real established rules for the world. The best example would be the angels not knowing how to get into Heaven. Sure, it might've been supposed to be a big cliffhanger, but it's just kind of never mentioned again after the trial. And yeah, double death... I guess we just don't talk about it.
And don't even get me started about the sidequests.
also, get sushi a contract
Okay, haven't watched the video yet, but I have some thoughts to share on my disappointment of the show and I'm excited to see how much of it you talk about.
1- Heaven immediately being the main antagonist is an insane decision that completely undermines the premise of the show. Big talk I know, but basically if the show is about redemption and getting out of Hell is the reward for bettering oneself, then Heaven being the antagonist from the get go is a failure from a purely mechanical perspective of the plot. It's like if Helluva Boss's premise was the exact same except Stolas didn't allow Blitzø to use the Grimoire; the plot literally does not work. Having Charlie's idea be rejected outright in the very first episode removes agency from the characters before the show even begins. There isn't a win condition anymore, there's nothing to work towards, killing audience investment.
2- There's too many music numbers. The first episode has I think 3? 4? And that pace continues for as many episodes as I could bear to watch. I have two problems with this: First is that it kills the pacing without adding a whole lot. Comparing it to Helluva Boss, the most songs we get in an episode is two (unless a new episode increased that number, I lost interest after my disappointment with HH) in Episode 2. Both songs are under a minute, so while they slow they pacing, they don't last long. They're also both really good, which... my second problem is that by cramming 3 or 4 songs into every episode, they all end up sacrificing quality. I was sad when I found out they replaced Addict, but I understood since they also replaced VAs and I felt that maybe I'd be able to get into the new one! Poison sucks. Holy SHIT does Poison suck.
3- I wouldn't mind it being a musical nearly as much if they were doing something clever with it, which I thought we were. In Charlie's opening exposition, she talks about how Lillith-her mother-used song to control others, propelling herself into power. My impression from this by the Happy Day In Hell song was that Charlie inherited this power and that was why she was doing musical numbers. Now imagine my surprise when we get to the next episode and Vox and Alastor start singing at eachother. I'm glad that this one at least got a lead up before it-something that the other songs lack-to make it less jarring, but because this killed my understanding of the show's construction, it made it _more_ jarring. Also the framing sequence of Stayed Gone is weird. I don't feel like a song was the best way to portray a combative smear campaign between two public figures. Maybe for a showboaty character like Vox, but I don't see Alastor singing for the public like this and it really made me cringe.
4- 13 year old me would've been so disappointed but seriously the swearing is a problem. At first I could ignore it because I felt it was a pointless aesthetic change that didn't really impact the story, but I'm older now and have a better grasp of how to write and this is _not_ it. It _is_ immature and lazy writing, substituting substance and humor with the fuck word. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I do feel like this criticism is warranted.
Those are my main problems with the show at least. I do still see the issue with all the red and again looking back at the Addict music video, it's weird that they regressed on their colors and visual clarity. I'm also ignoring Vivzie being really immature on twitter and how her fans adopted that which isn't great. I feel like there's also a conversation to be had regarding how she handled discussing the show prior to release-that is that she said WAY too much and kind of boxed herself into a corner or else risk upsetting longtime fans-but I digress.
Dang, I LOVE your version of the story holy crap. If you don't get that show, someone should turn that into a fanfiction! We have enough Alastor x reader things guys. Come now.
Now I’m just sad that your version doesn’t exist
"wait sushi soucy? like the one who wrote i deserve to bleed?"
yes, yes it is
30 seconds in and i realized i'm watching sushi soucy.... i was like wait i KNOW that song!
Your idea for this show is so much fucking better that I genuinely wish we had gotten this version instead.
SUSHI SOUCY???
omg the rewrite ate so bad it’s like if steven universe and the owl house had a religious baby
anyone who thinks vaggie's whole personality is being charlie's girlfriend doesn't see how codepency can be a interesting story line she been lost everything except for her name its a realisitic unhelathy coping mechanism and because of self loathing regret and guilt it makes sense she would latch on to it and we see parts of her character without charlie like when she told the staff they could leave when her in charlie were in a heated argument she is the protecter but doesn't always fufil that role considering her multi l she takes she is negatior she is tough sergrant internal softness external toughness caring dependable and strong loyal and kind but impatient and distrustful she was described as tough with a heart of gold she is supportive
I agree that codependency can be an interesting character trait, but the show (imo) doesn’t do a super great job at showcasing how it affects her and those around her. There’s not enough time for that trait to be developed fully in an interesting way, which is why I brought up Pearl being a better example of that character flaw. I understand her character, I even enjoy it, but it really is just about pacing at this point. They have to tell you explicitly through song or dialogue instead of showing you through actions throughout the course of the series.
@@Thenames_sushi she is also prgamatic and merciful and her motivations outside of charlie is getting back at heaven and proving their black and white views wrong and redeeming herself that was made clear through carmila and rosie she also got better in the finale more independent and confident before she was shown living exculsively from others espically charlie and going out of her comfort zone for her which is emotionally and mentally self destructive
@@Thenames_sushi it effects her by basing her worth on charlie and her unhealthy coping mechanisms could possibly make those around her feel guilty or bad in some way
@@Thenames_sushi she is also more pessimistic and cynical then her girlfriend so she has personality traits other then being hot headed and charlie's girlfriend even if they are related to her hot headed behavior they are not the same you know her other personality traits
@@Thenames_sushi plus vaggie is also devoted which can be both good and bad believes in things strongly has lots of determination perfectionisitc and avoidant which are traits she shows with lute some of them we know for sure some of them are a possibility that lute has
Omg sushi on my tl?? This is so awesome
I would like to think that after Alastor's death, any radio couldn't produce anything, except white noise
your rewrite concept sounds SO good oh my god
Just like me fr. Lemme in the writers room any writers room
i love how you made Charlie's goal to be becoming god
Adam from Hazbin isn't White, he's grey
Lmao real
Lol real
Though to be fair to the show imagine the flak they would get from making their asshole frat boy wannabe mysogenist villain a black guy. Like no way that shit would fly, right. Especially if you juxtapose that with how pasty and blonde Lucifer is.
Wait you made that song??? Ive been obsessed with it
Love his take on HH.
Hey there! A team I’ve assembled and I might actually be able to make a project out of your ideas from this video. However, before we continue on with anything, out of common courtesy I sought to ask for your permission before we do anything serious. We will give you all the proper credit should you agree to it, thanks!
i was trying to figure out what other videos of yours i may have watched because ur name sounded familiar but i couldnt place it then u hit me with ur most popular song and i was like "oh shit!" anyways time to actually watch this video
I honestly might write a fanfiction with this plot
HIRE ME ILL DO THE ART LMAO
ngl if this ends up becoming a thing i wanna do the designs lol
That sinners joke made me laugh.
oh wait YOU’RE the one who wrote that song-?? I hope you’re doing better, that song was really not something anyone should have to relate to. anyways, really good video, your version sounds awesome I want to watch it tbh
alastor barely cursed in episode 2 he only does it when he is really mad
Alastor doesn't curse at all in E2. The first time is episode four, then nothing until he calls Susan an "ornery old b*tch" in E7. Then two F-bombs while fighting Adam.
That's 4 times total. The only weird one is the first F-bomb in episode 8, so I really don't understand the complaint that he swears too much.
THE GOOD PLACE MENTIONED???
Lowkey wanna write this as a fanfic
Sushi you are always right about everything I fear
I agree with pretty much all of the points being raised.
omg sushi soucy on my youtube feed? dude this is crazy i loved following ur songwriting/music work in 2019-2020ish! im in different online circles now but I hope ur doing well :)
I'd be down to draw a comic of your version of the story lowkey
people think charlie has lots of empathy but she doesn't really understand others how their mind operate what their going through their situation perspective point of view emotions stuff like that she wants to but doesn't
what really bothers me is they want the hotel to be like the guild from fairy tail (very meaningful and were supposed to care when its destroyed) but its just not!! and the whole concept of the hotel is essentially scrapped and ruined after Charlie says the angels r killing as a way to control hell
The exterminations were to control overpopulation and prevent a sinner uprising by lowering the population. Charlie's hotel achieves the same goal, but via redemption instead of extermination.
So how exactly is the concept of the hotel scrapped and ruined?
@@FoxMoon89 the hotel is destroyed but instantly rebuilt
I think what should happen is that God should be in a “punishment” essentially feeling devastated for what he did to his daughter.
Start rewrite the show this sounds so good
omg the sugarcoat guy i love you sugarcoat guy
omg the stans letter guy i love you stans letter guy
funny to see fizzarolli on the ranking chart knowing hes an imp 😅 I know thats an old chart its probably before we really knew
I don't want to use the word "headcanon" because it'd make me look like a fan of the show but it's the closest to it 💀 I like to hc Adam specifically chooses women soldiers that look like Eve because he misses her
So I'm only halfway through the video but I literally just came up with this on the spot: what if, instead of a yearly extermination, there was a centennial battle between heaven and hell which heaven always won? The catch here would be that "killing" sinners doesn’t permanently kill them but "resets" them in a way, leading to hell having to re-train most of its army after each battle (or have backup legions which are lacking in numbers because of low morale). Also the sins and overlords probably wouldn’t care about this and even let it happen because more sinners = more business for them as hell is clearly modelled after late-stage capitalism.
Record of Ragnorak
I like hazbin hotel but there's so many things that could've been written better that it kinda bothers me. I'm also SO SICK of people defending the character designs, just except the fact that there's too much red because, it doesn't look good when your whole screen is glowing red in half of all the episodes. 😭
Its hell though obviously red would be everywhere so that point is invalid also the character designs are fine I don't get why people hate them
@@VelvetteSimp only the pride ring is red how are you a fan and don't know this?
@@VelvetteSimp only pride is red, and even then it's the same general shades as the character.
all the characters were toned down compared to the pilot vaggie isn't the only one it's okay even good to make the characters toned down as character development but not this early in the show yes they still have those personality they had in the pilot don't get me wrong but it is less strong and more toned down
I love it this
Do NOT get me started on how much better the good place was at the whole hell thing and ESPECIALLY the “redemption” thing.
Hell, (pun not intended) even Lucifer had better world building surrounding hell! The fucking Netflix show about the slutty british devil solving crime in LA!!!
Hazbin has one of the worst takes I’ve seen on hell and the afterlife in general. It’s actually so sad because the whole thing could actually work if the characters weren’t completely wasted as well. Truly i cannot stand for this anymore.
Bro i agree with you SO MUCH on the part where you mentioned Adam being white, i get that they did that because of his voice actor but cmon bro 😭🙏🏻
I feel like the whole plot of season1 should’ve been A. a movie or B. season2. It’s just for me I feel like the whole season could’ve focused on rehabilitating complicated sinners and how fucked up they were to end up in hell and Charlie succeeding into getting the into heaven or something like that. But ngl I’m just gonna be honest charlie was way too damn annoying for me anytime she was on screen being happy and shit when there is no justification for her to be happy when she’s lived in hell for years seeing her people die.
Didn't Viv say Lilith and Lucifer are still tgt and they're like Gomez and Morticia from the Addams family
I like Sushi’s version waaaaaay better
What's with the black nail polish? Also holy pixels
saucy sushi lmao
I NEED ANOTHER ANALYSIS/COMMENTARY VIDEOOOOOO [maybe mlp next cus the new mlp isnt that sigma 🤫🧏♂️]
This is so so so good ahhHh!
