Just say you're close minded
The rarity of a rap tune that’s about discontentment rather than just bragging. Refreshing.
Bloody Shrine It’s really not rare at all tho tbh. What with the influx of emo rap and rappers such as Tyler the creator, Juice Wrld, Earl Sweatshirt, and Mac Miller. Granted these guys each brag at times, their bars regarding their discontentment with who they are feel real and should not be overlooked
I don’t see why those supposed “artists” shouldn’t be overlooked. That irritating, excessively auto tuned sound should be abolished. The promotion of that supposed music just encourages more talentless crap.
As far as I know, Tyler, Earl, and Mac Miller don't use a autotune. You sound like an oldie who just assumes every new school rapper is the same. Very ignorant and narrow-minded.
Well I guess I’m an oldie, along with the multitudes who have good taste. It’s just that anytime I listen to any new rapper, they seem to be using the same style, and the auto tune technique is excessively over used. So i don’t see why you expect me to have a good attitude about the current music scene, when way too many are playing follow the leader.
Oh yeah, I had a listen to those “artists” and they are nothing that makes you want to come back and listen again. Mac Miller sounds like a bragging self absorbed douchebag, juice world is just flat out irritating and Tyler The Creator... I’ve heard too many use that same style of rap delivery. The other thing that bugs me about these new hip hop tunes is, instrumentally they suck. Good rap music should have a good rhythm section in the mix, that makes your head bop, and that is totally lacking in a lot of new songs. Sure there are probably a lot of trendies who make these trend chasers go viral on UA-cam, but that doesn’t make them anything fantastic.

It's interesting because it's a genuine rap song, (not a parody or purposely comedic) but it isn't talking about everything he does have, but instead everything he wishes he had. nice change of pace and a pretty catchy tune in it's own right.
Random Loser Who Loses the song is old as shot dude
So true what you said
parody or purposely comedic (actually it is also just that alongside what you said... follows in the vein of the Pharcyde's Passin' me by , which he also references (for those who caught it) This is the powerof rap that many have slept on. It can contain so many nuances that get pulled out by us, the consumer, thereby making the content noteworthy.
@@soniccatalogrecordings1718 I agree about the distinction between parody and genuinely light-hearted. For me this is in the same vein as songs like baby got back, where it's still a genuine rap song, it just doesn't take itself too seriously.

I don't even like rap, I'm a metal head, but this song is just so good
Metalheads say the same thing about Eminem. You secretly do like rap if you're a metalhead, but most songs you probably don't like.
@@xxxod No most of the metalheads I know are elitist arseholes who won't listen to anything that isn't 100% screaming. I don't secretly like rap, why would I pretend not to like a genre of music?
@@nope110 I honestly don't really know how to add on to my original statement. The initial comment is most of what I have to say.
Metalheads do like some rap songs, you can't force yourself to not like every song from a genre is what I mean.
There are some exceptions, but metalheads don't regularly listen to rap so that's why they don't say they are rap fans or whatever.
@@xxxod When I was a metalhead when i was young I felt that pressure, like you can't like that disco music because you are tough you listen to metal you have to keep it that way. Then I learned that most of my idols listen to rap and pop because they are musicians and they appreciate every kind of music. So I became open minded and find out rap is awesome some pop songs are awesome being a metalhead narrows you down.

This song was so incredibly ahead of its time. It’s pure genius, lyrically and musically. This is long before rap songs started sampling that “vintage” sound and using actual musical theory to support the flow and words. But Skee Lo figured it out, decades early. It’s a classic. Legendary.

@Kalash What?
Well to be fair there were plenty of other people on the same tip.. just not as self-deprecating lol

Classic song!!! I remember when this song came out everyone was feeling it. The 90's was a great time to be teenager, so much good music, movies and TV shows at that time.
The 90s was also a time when there was a much bigger chance to get murdered in every US city!
This song just has that magic element. I literally don't know anyone who doesn't groove to this when it comes on. It has aged quite well.
The sampling of already old school great songs and then add that old school rap flow is what makes all these era songs timeless.
