Round 2 game 3 was a particularly magnificent example of just how much small decisions matter. This is really hear-warming for someone who knows Pox very well. A friend of mine played Pox while it was the most expensive deck in Legacy at the time of Grixis Delver dominance, with all goodies like Nether Void, Chains etc. One time, at MKM Series Rome, he won first round playing RG Lands which he HAD LOST, leaving the deckbox on the table while going to the bathroom. After announcement and fruitless search, he was allowed to continue playing the tournament with another deck he had with him - Pox. That was the only time I've heard about something like that. Congrats on the trophy! Well done, tough matchups :)
27 lands is wasted without nethervoid, pox is a mana denial deck/// nvr forget the main line. I guess this version is going for big pox into bloodghast - sounds neat! i use infernal tutor to grab silver bullets: x1 nether void, x1 chains of m. , x1 ensnaring bridge, x1 cursed scroll and 2 bitter blossoms. the bridge stops attacks while bblossom creates a wincon in the air. b blossom also great on defense.. its so good in pox i also run 2 in the side board.

Extremely similar to my list 10ish years ago; I ran Sinkholes & 1-2 Cursed Scrolls...maybe Neither Void (may be wrong, haven't played in 8-10 yrs). Also ran some fetchlands. Super fun deck, though!
Congratz!! But I thing this deck with these 3 pox out, 25 or 26 lands with the Sagas, shadowspears, retrofitter and cursed scroll would be really better! hahahahaha btw this was amazing!!!
oh my god this is better than any monoblack ponza nonsense ive ever tried. so sick, i love it. also, SIXTY bucks for that dragon??? thats ancient tomb dollars, and ive never even seen that card in pioneer let alone any other format. i guess i havent really played a game of edh this year though...
56:25 rules question, would they still shuffle if the search is prevented? the card should still do as much as it can and shuffling is a different step than searching, but I think they reworked how search/shuffle was worded recently and I'm not sure.
Straight from Gatherer: If an effect says “You may search your library . . . If you do, shuffle your library” or “You may search your library . . . then shuffle your library,” your opponents can't choose to search, so they won't shuffle. If an effect says “Search your library . . . then shuffle your library,” your opponents shuffle their libraries even though they can't search. So if the shuffling is contingent on the search, then no shuffling happens. If it's independent of the search, the shuffling is still mandatory.
Awesome gameplay, really loved it. Quick question. If you had to remove the original Pox. What would you put in the deck instead of it? Keep up the good work!
love the videos keep em coming Phil! I'm not sure if other people agree or not, but as some feedback I do find it less exciting to watch videos already knowing you're going to go 5-0 before starting it, it removes the excitement of not knowing the outcome of any game 3 of a match.
Basically everyone agrees with you, but it's been shown time after time that if you put 5-0 in your title, a lot more people will watch it. It's an unfortunate but necessary concession that creators have to make to get attention on the platform.
Why was it a mistake if they blocked with Endurance in last game? Seems like Endurance could have killed the Bloodghast and lived through the Lili minus. Did I miss something?
Are there any legacy decklist that uses the Kamigawa channel lands with Storm Cauldron and Crucible of Worlds? I mean being able to channel Boseiju multiple times seems pretty funny to me
Pox has always been my glovebox deck. Carry it with me for pickup games. I use strip mines and sinkholes bc in the real world we don't use sleeves and there are no ban lists
Encroach is amazing in pox decks. It can be even better than wasteland in some cases since it can hit fetches in ways that wasteland can’t. Encroach turn one and smallpox on turn two is the dream.
I remember playing something like this years ago... Do you think Nether spirit is still a reasonable card to put in the deck? Seems fine against anything without StP, at least is something to pressure planeswalkers/contest initiative/chump block
Last game using the Dark Ritual t1 was a hard missplay, you really needed to hold it for the 2 Black mana cards. You weren't losing anything doing t1 Inquisition and then again t2 inquistion (and then you could have done Dark Ritual on t2, using your black cards)
really nice, should probably play collected brutality instead of the pox though, I dont think you got to cast it once and CB is a card that is good against pretty much anything.
I see pox i sac a land, a creature, discard a card and drop a like
