Production compliment. Jim, I really enjoy not having all the introductory and background music. It it not that the music is bad - I just find the lack of it is very peaceful and relaxing, so I am able to concentrate more. It is actually enjoyable watching someone wash a “window”:)
Thanks Jim I love your videos you're doing a great job you have a very calming way talking and explaining your in your videos. Take care safe travels. Pam
Going back over some of your videos Jim. Hope all is well for you. May God bless 🙏
Jim, nice tools and nice of you to show us how to properly use them. thank you,
Can't wait until I'm out there myself!! Getting anxious. lol
Thanks for the informative video.
Nice example for solar panel upkeep. Tks for sharing.
I did not know the water trick! Thank you
Jim, love your videos! See you down the road! Safe travels. --Mark
Thanks for the great video Jim! most people forget to keep their panels clean which will result in poorer performance. Great view in the background.
Subscribed to this happy guy👍. Thanks for the good information
Yeah that was very helpful video thank you very much Jim
Thank you Jim for helping us!!
A subject not oft talked about Jim! I use to be a window washer... a snap! Great looking big panels!!
Always look forward to your videos!
Great video Jim... Thanks for sharing with all of us. I do this every weekend. I have Four 100Watt Monocrystalline panels and Two 150Watt Monocrystalline. The 150Watt panels are not in use as of yet, but if all goes well and I don't end a crippled, I'll put those in use in the near future. I think you and might have the same problem regarding the back problem.... Thumbs UP on the video as always...
by the third panel the ladder does become a pain
@@solarboondocker4597 I understand... by all means do be careful out there.
Thanks again for another good video Jim .
Thank you once again Jim. I like the spot you are in. (I fish and Kayak) You surprised me on this video. With your cleverness and ingenuity in design I imagined you had a way to automatically clean them. lol When I meet you on my solar install you are going to have to tell me where those water camps are. Thanks again for your video's.
Somethings just have to be done personally ya know ;)
Thanks for the demo Jim😃A very efficient way to clean windows/solar panels seemingly effortlessly. What a useful, practical kit. Will pursue. Take care and good day 😀
Great video hope to learn more.
Thanks, God bless
4:41 - That laugh... lol
That was really a helpful video thank you
Thanks Jim, nice spot you're camping at.
What a difference!
Jim ... Another excellent and informative video!!! Thanks! Chuck Knight. 🤠
Thanks Jim. Beautiful spot to work in.
Very nice video thank you so much keep them coming
Good job Jim. Good to know when we have our system installed.Nice to see more of you. Are you still in Western Oregon? A beautiful spot and a beautiful State. You must be getting busy for we have not heard from you on the int-phone. talk soon brian & patty from oregon
Thank you, Jim, just taking it all in.
Another tool to add to the essentials list :-) Thanks Jim
Great video Jim! We are getting ready to install our panels from the previous trailer to the Avion. We checked the panels and they appear to have survived and are working to full capacity so we know they are tough and can withstand a beating. Pins and needles that everything works when fully installed. We only cleaned our panels with a Norwex cloth before so this is great information for us to be diligent for best input!
Love, love, love your channel! Thanks SOoooo much for sharing your expertise. Like your new channel name too. :)
Great info! And so easy!thank you for sharing
Good information. I have suitcase panels, but now know to be sure to keep them clean. Hope to meet you at the next RTR.
Your videos are very helpful but just a suggestion it might have worked better if you put your camera on a tri pod aimed at your work area and you instead of having someone hold for you not sure if they kept looseing balance but it seemed like the camera was kinda going all over hope you don't mind the suggestion im not trying to insult ty again for your video stay safe and god bless
Very helpful! Thanks so much!
Good info as always
Great thank you
Thank you!
Thanks. Good info
Besides the way you show can u also use a power washer to clean your panels and then squeegee then off? Or do you not recommend powerwashing them.
Thanks Jim, curious if we would have seen a difference if you showed us what the panels were producing before and after? Kind of a 'if your panels are this dirty and you clean them you could see this much improvement'.
Excellent work by your cameraman , did you guys clean the panels on his van next? Oh, next time you see Bob, let him know the dead cat on his mic is starting to get in the shot. :)
I have seen a 5 amp jump and the panels were not horrible
I'm light years away from being an expert but 5 amp jump sounds significant to me. Very much worth 15 minutes out of a nomad's day.
Love the video!
We have flexible stick-on panels, not rigid glass. Will they clean the same way?
Thanks for sharing that! We are a little while from solar and am curious if you had thoughs on protecting the panels in the event of an unexpected hail storm? Are they robust enough to survive or would you throw a cover over them or seek shelter?
Any hail bad enough to damage solar panels will put you in the hospital. I have seen storms that took out windows, cars, fences, siding but did not damage any of the panels in the area. It can happen of course but only in extreme cases.
Thanks so much for the reply. I recall riding trial bikes in a really remote area on a ridge where there was an AT&T tower - they had this metal shipping container outfitted with a large array of solar panels and all of them were shattered. I assumed from hail, but perhaps vandals. It always made me a little cautious. They panels were also probably very old so more modern materials and manufacturing methods are likely more superior.
What kind of panels you got there? I want to set up our 1995 gulfstream wide body class c, so we can run solar mostly. With a window ac, later add on wind. We also have the factory 4000 watt genset for back-up, but would like to use it as little as possible. Any help and info is greatly appreciated. God bless.
thanks
Yo! Hey thanks for the info/demo. But I wonder how often you recommend doing this? Anyways, muchos thanks!
as often as needed. More often in dusty and rainy, I went with a dusting in 6 months.
Obrigado
Thanks for the instructions Jim! Where is this video made? Would like to go there someday.
4 mile quarry between Klamath falls and Medford, Or
Thank-you!!
Excellent video Jim! The location is beautiful! What general location are you in?
The quarry near Klamath Falls, Or
Thanks so much! Keep up the great work Jim!
Thx
Enjoying your videos, Jim. I've learned quite a bit, so thank you! I do have a question, though. What kind of ladder do you use? You seem to be very comfortable up there, and I'm hoping to find the right "idiot proof" one for me. Thanks!
I use a telescoping ladder. I will be doing a review on it soon
Jim, are the solar panels made of glass or something else?
How do you wash your RV? I take it you can’t run it through a truck wash.
I was wondering what do you do in a hail storm. How do you protect them?
I do nothing. It takes some mighty big hail to shatter a solar panel. Big enough to put you in the hospital. Panels cost so little that it is not worth the risk.
A little ammonia will go a long wat to break the sutface tension of the water allowing the dirt to easily be squeegeed off.
How old are your solar panels, which ones do you like the best and why. How many batteries do you have. What brand did you go with. what do you think is a comfortable size solar system to have....
My trailer panels were new in 2015. They are 250w Navajo solar poly's. The trucks was new in 2017, It is a rebranded 435 watt Sunpower. It is also a poly.
I prefer Poly's but whatever fits your roof, your needs and your budget is best.
I have three 225 Ah Lifeline AGM 8-D's that are 8 years old.
@@solarboondocker4597 thank you that helps a lot.
Is that Mt Shasta in the background?
Got it!
You could probably put a cup or two of white vinegar in the water for extra cleaning purposes.
It might work better if there was something water would not get. I would redo them with a clean rinse to remove any film.
I am getting into solar for my camper 35ft and I can get locally : Talesun 315 Watt Poly Solar Panels $210 or SAINTY SOLAR 255 WATT MONO SOLAR PANELS $204. Which would you recommend, I travel 50/50 eastern/western US?
The 315 polys if they fit. Polys do better in overcast situations and the extra 60 watts per panel can't hurt either.
Thanks. I camp with horses and shade is important for them so alot of my sites are on the shady side. 1. Do poly do better in shade or partial shade (say you have 3 panels and 1 1/2 panels are in shade) 2. If you have partial shade which is best series or parrallel , I will be using an mppt?
In average conditions, you do it monthly or weekly ?
Monthly at the most but then again I have been in pretty dry areas
Maybe it would be better to do it in the evening so the water won't dry on you prematurely from the hot sun.
Hi Jim, I emailed you but haven't heard back. Maybe I have the wrong address. I'm in Denver now but I'm hitting the road in October and want to hire you to design my solar system. I've tried to learn on my own but it's overwhelming to me. I know I'm jumping the gun a little but I want to make sure you're still in the biz so I have my ducks in a row when the time comes!
Use jim@jimindenver.com. I am trying to keep up, honest. I will be back to Colorado in maybe three weeks time.
Ahh, I missed the 1st jim-LOL. No hurry, I'm still binge watching youtube to learn as much as I can. I've been watching videos on cell service and that's going over my head also. You would never know I used to be a 911 repair tech!
Mr!!!!! Where state????? Location? Lake so romantic 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Is there a way one can contact you for tech advice?
you can reach me at jim@jimindenver.com
What kind of panels are those?
250 watt Navajo Poly's
They use alcohol on the glass lenses inside chip making equipment. They cannot leave any dust, dirt, or film. None. The thing is, as Jim said, the manufacture would know what to use, and more importantly, what not to use.
I know more about diy from Avasva handbooks!
:)
Looks like the PNW to me
Not much about solar on your UA-cam channel.... just cleaning windows and antennas...
That was really helpful video thank you
