Love the edge they give to this great tune. Yet, they also nail the beautiful almost haunting nuances. Kudos to Dr Wu for showing how Steely Dan songs, performed live, can really kick ass!❤
I worked in radio, and if I now had a nickel for every time I played a Steely Dan song….well…. I’d have a whole bunch of nickels, and I’ve seen a whole lot of covers of various Dan tracks by various bands here on UA-cam, and I have to say….this was really good. Nice and tight. True to the track….and Donald Fagen‘s voice is very very difficult to nail down, and you came closer than anyone else I’ve heard…..so good job everybody!
As a life long SD fan, I am very pleasantly impressed. The music, solos and vocals along with the difficult tempos make this a track that's seldom covered. Dr Wu , I salute you! Good job.❤ 👍
Another fantastic S-D cover. I have been listening to Stealing Dan covers lately and was amazed that another group could be as good. Keep up the great work
This incredible drummer and human being was Frederic Jacquemin .As you may have noticed, this was filmed in 2017, and sadly he left us in September 2021 after fighting cancer bravely for two years. I hope your words will reach him somehow . Thanks .
What a terrific rendition of a Steely Dan Classic. Superb musicality! Is this the same Doctor Wu that was once out of Venice, California? I remember auditioning for them as a vocalist. No easy feat. Especially for a tenor!
Thanks for your appreciation ! No we’re not « Doctor Wu » from California (They’re excellent by the way ! ) but « Dr Wu » from Paris , France 😃…we know it might be confusing , but when we discovered their existence , we already had a steady local following , it was kind of too late to change our name …and we love that band name so much 😃
Haha really , you hear autotune ? When? … apparently your ears are not trained enough, or you’re not expressing your thoughts correctly …so I’m gonna try to be more precise on what’s tuned or not : first you make a wrong use of the term « auto tuned » : using autotune suggests putting the autotune plug-in all along the vocal performance and let it correct automatically all of it : that’s not the case here . Only a few words were corrected manually , using Soundshifter ( which , unlike autotune or melodyne, is just a time stretch device with no automatic tune detection and correction) . For instance , on the first verse , here are the only words corrected (in capital letters) « drve west ON susnset….THE END OF a perfect day » . And in the second verse « TJ, and « CHEAP » were tuned a bit as well …. Anyone who can use its ears will spot those words because we hear the untuned voice in all the other mikes (that’s why I wouldn’t tune them if I started this mix over btw, 😂) seriously ,6 words in the first two verses ruined it all for you ? Sorry to hear that ! But sorry to disappoint you: some people can really sing in tune . (Ok , let’s say 95% in tune 🤣)
Ha ha , sorry but no autotune used . For one simple reason: the sound on stage was really messy and resonant , with a huge amount of instruments leaking in the vocal mics . So automatic correction would have resulted in all the instruments sounding chorussy . I just corrected manually the pitch of , let’s say 10 words or syllables , and yes they’re quite easy to spot , because at these moments the untuned voice which is leaking in the other mics , is superimposed with the tuned one . But some doubling plug-ins , like Reel ADT , were used , on the backing vocals for instance , to fatten them . Believe it or not , some singers still can sing -almost - in tune 😀
@@DrWuplaysSteelyDan-en6tp "no autotune used", immediately follows it up with "yes I pitch corrected." You know what I mean. Lol 😂 Still a fun performance, sounds pretty good guys.
I was listening with my eyes closed and thought I was still listening to Steely Dan! Fantastic tribute band. I’d pay good money to go and see them.

Wow! Best Steely Dan tribute band I've seen by a mile!! Vocalist is amazing and the arrangement is spot on. Superb!

Wow, this is great. Well done. Great music played by a great band, can't ask for anything more !
This music will live forever in high school and college jazz bands.

Tight & tasteful - Tack!
Wow! Very well done by all. Tough song to do but you nailed it big time.
Excellent rendition!! 👍🏻👏👏
Every song...excellent
Sounds like Steeely Dan with Sting singing lead…love it all
This is really great. Everyone played and sang beautifully. I love a large live band. So fun. Thanks for doing the work.
Brilliant and amazing performance. Chapeau !
If you take on a song like this you have to be good. They are.
Amen
Oh my goodness, this guy has a voice like Sting.Great range and tone.Awesome all around folks.
tone is auto-tune
Really love Steely Dan, but never would have guessed that anyone could duplicate their material like you all! Sooo cool!
Wow! Nailed every bit of this song! Well done!
Oh, man . Listen to those horns.
Had another listen: Still fantastic.
This is fantastic! One of the most complex songs of SD performed so beautifully! Thank you guys so much!!!👋
There are quite some Steely Dan tribute bands but imho you guys are the best. Really impressive. From a seasoned fan of the Dan.
Dig! Outstanding performance!
Superb!
Steely Dan. Underrated. I'm actually surprised that I'm a huge fan....it's just something about their music. And this is a great rendition 👏👏
The " El Supremo from the room at the top of the stairs " would be VERY impressed !...... BRAVO !
Nice! So great to see SD cover bands that get it! ❤
And it's hard to explain what "it" is, but you're right- they get it.
Amazing cover! 👏
That is a great live performance. Cool horn section.
Fabulous. Oh wow.
I would go see these guys. I hope they do a tour.
Always love the key change near the end 💕
Great job guys and gals
Just… Wow!
Just great.
Another fantastic S-D cover. I have been listening to Stealing Dan covers lately and was amazed that another group could be as good. Keep up the great work
You guys are the real deal,I'm sure this exposure will assist in your endeavours 🎼👌
This is FANTASTIC!
This is a tough song. These guys are really good. Will definitely see the if they come to SF
Damn this is GOOOOOOOD.
Fantastic
Dope
Really fine cover!
Yes please ❤
Who is that drummer!?
The pocket's so deep you could disappear in it...and he's got all the texture and hits spot on!

How in heck do you having only 435 subscribers. What a tribute!
What fun!!
To research your part and figure out how to replicate it along with the rest of the group
Well done.
Very Good, And Thank You!
NIce! Love the girl. ~
Very good cover!
Excellent!
Pretty great! The vocals sound a bit too polished for my taste though. Both lead and background vocals have clearly been post-processed.
The wife and I will be attending May 11, 2024 at The Canyon, Agoura Hills, CA
Not the same Dr Wu ! We’re based in Paris, France 😀…But enjoy the show tonight with our Californian sis and bros !
Классно написана вещичка. И манера пения похожа на Стинга.
Love Steely cover bands! It's a TON of work. I especially like the ones where the singer sounds better than Donald. (Did I say that?)
Come on now, Fagen's voice *IS* Steely Dan 😄

Needs to be abit like a reggae beat
Ahhhhhh, new drummer please.............aaaaarrrghhh
Not bad abit fast though needs to slow it down a bit
Where are they from ?
In the chorus not so much trumpet when you play it next time its to jazzy
They sound great, but i don't like the vocalist placement(timing). He's too choppy. Good tone though
sounds auto-tuned (rather....i know it auto-tuned). sorry but it takes away from any live performance.

This is great, but it feels dirty to add that autotune to the vocals. Let the raw humanity shine through instead!
Autotune is a bit too noticeable for my taste

Better than Steely Dan in a few ways.
Never ...... but they're a good cover band 👍⭐️
Well done! Not the easiest band or tune to cover - and you folks just killed it! ❤🤘
