@@reginald2004 It blocks sea access to Mykolaiv while the terrible roads allow landing Marines better supply then tanks. And Ukraine has local artillery superiority.
Yes, that assumption is. This guards a water transport route, forces invader to maintain troops at the far end of bad supply routes and is a staging point for a later attack in coordination with a major operation to the east.
@@annoyed707 - incorrect. In fact the latter points are entirely the opposite. The Ukrainians can’t build up or support and supply enough forces there to accomplish anything. And frankly it would be a deathtrap if the arty starts up on them in Kinburn Spit it’s a “kill box”. The Russians can block that peninsula with a tiny force and small amount of arty…or they can just spend an afternoon shelling that confined area. It doesn’t help control the sea/river approaches either. Because there is nothing on Kinburn Spit or deployable to it that would achieve that. And that is already assured. Defensible for Ukrainian forces by arty and Neptune Anti-ship systems on the main coast. Kinburn Spit is of no real military value at all…and actually ties up some Ukrainian forces - forces which must be supplied over water or by air. It was not a good move. It most likely was done for political purposes…to be able to say: “Ukraine has regained control over all of Mykolaiv Oblast”. It is laughably absurd to imagine that the small number of troops that can be deployed there, present any sort of viable threat to Russian forces in that vicinity. 1-2 companies of troops are useless.

Drone footage doesn't look right any more without a grenade or two swinging underneath.
Unfortunately that makes sense, Sir.
Militarily worthless…
Sea access to Mykolaiv.
Easier to supply by boat instead of road.
