Chris is a country music singer/songwriter from Kentucky. He's written songs across different genres for other people. His wife, who is also his backup singer, talked him into performing his own music. With a voice like that, we are most grateful that he listened to her.
Mark McComish -- Yes, Yes Yes! I would love to see his reaction to "I was wrong," live in Austin. Also, his live version at the Bing Lounge (from 2013 when nobody outside country music, including me, knew that he is a _generational_ talent).
It's so awesome seeing peoples faces, when they are listening to something special. Their like where have I been, I cannot believe I haven't heard of this.
One of the best reaction to this song. 💯 My guy, this is a cover too. Released in 2015. It's the best version tho. The original was written & recorded in 1981. Gotta check out the live version to this. It's more electrifying than the recording.
I love me some Chris Stapleton! So many good songs! This guy is better live than recorded. He has an acoustic version of a song he did with a rock group called”Barely Alive” that will blow you away. “I Was Wrong” is another favorite, as well as “Either Way”, “Death Row”, “Whiskey and You”, and he did a live performance at the CMA awards show with Justin Timberlake of “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Drink You Away” That is really good.
Welcome to the Chris Stapleton Family! You're going to gain a whole new following if you keep watching him! Watch his live show Tennessee whiskey with Justin Timberlake. Also death row, his cover of James Brown, his cover a prince, I was wrong, Sometimes I Cry or just a few
I'm a 90s baby but this type of songs you are listening to remind me of my great great grandfather when they Yous too sit down and ask me too play them type of music for them 👍👊
Crazy thing about him is that he was a songwriter for other artists (mainly country)&never thought he could do it himself and then he came out with this album and blew everybody away winning every Grammy, and all Country music award shows...he is unforgettable and has more soul than most blues and r&b singers...I love your appreciation for real music and singing no matter the genre... thanks for what you do✌🏻💜🙏🏻

You got the ear and voice to recognize his God given blessings, dude has an old soul and it's got something to say. I always enjoy watching other musicians listening to this cool cat.
You have a talent and it's not just your voice. You know enough to anticipate when something good is about to happen in a song and shut up and let it happen. I appreciate that.
Generational talent ... I have seen this dude twice and been blown completely away with his sound... From James Brown to BB King ... Check out more of his music .... You need to go see him live
That's him playing the guitar as well. He is a beast with it. His cover of James Brown's This is a Man's World is crazy. I forget the name, but Chris Stapleton isn't the original singer of Tennessee Whiskey either, but his cover blew the original out of the water. 😁
David Allen Cole had his version, but George Jones was better known for his. I still really like George's version as a country purist, but Stapleton's is just fantastic.
@@mikebeasley6447 Get over what? I said I really like George's version for what it is, a true country song but that Stapleton's song is "fantastic". His is by far the better of the 3, but I do love me some Jones. Really to me they are 2 completely different songs, one is pure country, the other is much more blues/country. I really love both.

Well said!! I did a deep dive into that once, and both go all the way back, way further, than I expected, to slavery, Ireland and Scotland!! Just before the turn of the century, after the slaves were "freed", many fled to bigger cities in the North, where they weren't exactly welcomed with open arms. Scottish and Irish immigrants weren't looked at very favorably at that time either, so all three shared blighted areas, or slums, of the big cities. There and then is where a convergence of cultures happened, that gave us some of the greatest gifts ever, in the Arts, that are solely U.S. born. The convergence of traditional Irish dancing (think Michael Flatley) merged with Hambone, a style of dance/music created by the slaves, who were rarely allowed instruments, where they would slap their thighs, stomach and chest to get different sounds, while also stomping their feet, while others sang. The combination of those two created tap dancing. Similarly, the combination of Scottish and Irish folk songs, merged with field, or work songs, the former slaves would sing, created Bluegrass music. After the turn of the century and all through WWI, Bluegrass took off like wildfire, not only in big cities, but into the honkytonk little bars of the rural areas of the country. Unfortunately that was in part due to Bill Monroe, a great Bluegrass musician, but a white man from Kentucky, who happened to write the first Bluegrass song that was a radio hit, so he alone often gets the credit for being the grandaddy of Bluegrass music. After WWII, Bluegrass was huge, but it started to fork, one leg of the fork stayed out in the rural area and eventually developed into Country and Western, and some Blues, the other fork migrated back to the urban population and also became the Blues, which quickly morphed into Rhythm & Blues (R&B) which then forked again into rockabilly, then rock n roll, and so on and so on and so on.....lol. Pretty cool stuff huh.
First time I’ve ever seen one of your videos. I respect the appreciation of the vocals. Chris is the best male vocalist in music period. Love the content bro. I just subscribed. 🤙🏼
Beth Hart : I’ll take care of you, Caught out in the rain, A change is gonna come, she is AMAZING . This song was done by George Jones and David Allen Coe decades ago . Chris’s version is more recent .
If you're a singer, you'll appreciate the fact that Chris is one of those few freaks that can actually sound BETTER live than his studio efforts. He's ridiculous. You'll also notice that he's a fairly serious guitar player. Check out his "Live at the Bing Lounge" performance of Sometimes I Cry and also his song I Was Wrong from the Austin City limits show. You won't be disappointed. Another Stapelton nugget is that the on-point female harmonies are Chris' singer/songwriter wife Morgane who's performed with many big name artists. Morgane has written hits (including a #1) for country greats such as Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Pickler, etc. With FIVE kids sharing that DNA, the future of country music is looking pretty good.

Didn't get its roots only from black folks. It's derived from a melting pot of cultures. Mountain or hillbilly music (Appalachian), in particular, combines the ballads and folksongs brought to the South by Irish immigrants and other immigrants from the British Isles in the 18th and 19th Centuries and the rhythmic influences of African immigrants. Great combination of all the folks. It wouldn't be much without the blues, at least in my opinion.
