I think something that was touched on at 49:25 is the large disparity. This chronic issue is larger than a “living wage”. A large proportion of Americans are stuck in a lower middle class. Where working brings just enough security but doesn’t afford them enough to get higher education or pursue career growth. This evidence is anecdotal but this is my experience. I’m surrounded every day by people who aspire to go back to school or are trying to make it work. The resources just aren’t there for “non-traditional students” as my University classifies me. People are stuck working $20 an hour for the rest of their lives.
