Awesome demo, thanks for uploading. I'm definitely getting this combo. Here's the modeling list of the SCX2 from a Strat forum: 1. Fender Tweed Champ • Versatile - A Fender Classic Standard Tube Amp 2. Fender Tweed Deluxe Clean • Signature tone for Neil Young, Larry Carlton, & Don Felder • Clean at lower volumes and saturated at higher volumes 3. Fender Tweed Deluxe - Dirty/Compressed 4. Fender Tweed Bassman • Provides slight compression but allows for the increase of the amp’s dynamic output range. 5. Fender ‘65 Princeton Clean • Top-notch tube tone, naturally dynamic clean tones, and unmistakable long-spring Fender reverb and tube vibrato 6. Fender ‘65 Princeton dirty/compressed • Top-notch tube tone, naturally dynamic overdriven tones, and unmistakable long-spring Fender reverb and tube vibrato 7. Fender ‘65 Deluxe • Rock, Country, or Blues • Fat Fender tone and a go-to studio amp for decades 8. Fender ’65 Twin • Rock, Jazz, or Country • “What a clean electric guitar sounds like.” 9. 60s British Clean (Vox AC30) • Known for its “jangly” high-end sound 10. 60s British dirty/compressed (Vox AC30) • Fuller/Thicker Overdrive Sound 11. 70s British (Marshall Major) • “Used by rock musicians who needed lots of volume.” 12. 80s British (Marshall JCM800) • “Distinctive roar and larger than life edge.” 13. Fender Super Sonic • “Fender clean tones and expressive modern high-gain tones…Overdrive flavors ranging from bluesy to flame-throwing.” 14. 90s Metal (Mesa Boogie Rectifier) • Gobs of overdrive and liquid sustain 15. 2000 Metal (Peavey 6505) • “Brutality and Aggression” • “Devastating” overdriven tones 16. Jazzmaster • Flat, solid-state clean
I just bought it and will be picking up next week after watching m-a-n-y videos and testing it out 3 times in person. I have always had solid state amps, Peavy and Fenders. This is my first tube amp and it's only for home use so, I know it will be probably my last amp purchase to go along with my Princeton Chorus that I've had for over 18 years. Really looking forward to spending some quality time with it!
I have one and liked it quiet a lot, but still had some buyer's remorse regarding not getting a Blues Jr. Then I finally go around to loading Fender Fuse software on my laptop and hooking it up to the amp. Wow, this thing is a little tone monster with the additional capabilities, especially with the addition of the mid tone control.
Michael you do the best reviews on UA-cam. I wish you every success in your life. You have talent along with common sense and you keep your ego in check. I know your parents are extremely proud of you.
Great little amp - had it for a couple of years now. Line out sounds fab in a PA. Allows you to actually use it live, maintain a nice stage volume, and be heard everywhere.
this has been one of the best demonstrations of this amlifier I has seen and I think it has to do with the fact that it wasn't mic'd into a PA so you get the full effect of the cabinet as it flows about the room which gives off a different feel. I want one of these and then put a vintage greenback in it to really let that puppy stretch its sonic legs. Great review Sir thank you.
Ridiculously helpful video... this certainly covered the wide range of this amp, which has led me to purchase one. I find that it's perfect for small gigs, rather than carrying my Fender DeVille 410 around to rehearsals or small coffee shop or theater gigs. Thanks you very much. Really wish you guys were in Los Angeles... his city can use dedicated and knowledgeable individuals (not to say there aren't any, but they're hard to find).
Thanks! I have the separate head and cab version, which has a little more bottom end than the combo for like $200 more. You clearly illustrated the versatility and value of this wonderful little amp. Would like to hear the same demo with a humbucker guitar.
I’ve tried them all in this price range. This is the best - and gets very close to Deluxe Reverb and Princeton. In some ways better, because you can’t get those amazing sounds from them unless you turn them up and get into trouble with the whole neighbourhood! With this one you can play as quietly as you want with all those amazing sounds. And it is definitely loud enough to play with a loud drummer (unless he is amplified of course).
What a pretty arpeggio at 4:40. This is one of the better demos of this amp as it really sounds without fancy mics. Nice and thoughtful playing, useful presentation.
The Blues Jr. Is an awesome amp. I play one myself. In a side-by-side comparison the Blues Jr. will sound better with its larger speaker and more powerful amp section. It also costs nearly $100 more. The Champ is a great little tube amp with a nice dsp section and is more moderately priced. It is a great entry level tube amp and sounds great even at low volume levels.
Oh, i like your video...i am thinking about, to by one for my next studio album, but i am not sure, if this one is the right one...ore maybe fender pro, junior, deluxe....ooooooooooo jesus....help me.....damn.
Another thing about this amp is that doesn't have a mid nob control nob, it has gain, bass and treble but no mid, as far as effects loop you can always use the the front of the amp or guitar input for effects than plug guitar, but that's just a personal choice mate.
The amp sounds great for a little 15 watter, and just got added to my GAS list. But that guitar really impressed me. What guitar were you using during this demo...?
Hey man, great review! It is actually one of the best that I've seen on this amp! I was wondering how the reverb on this thing is at max. I want to get a drippy wet surf rock sound but usually you need an actual spring reverb for that
Great video. Just curious about the pickups. Is there a humbucker in the bridge or was that all coming from single coils? I'm just curious because some of that sounded really thick and fat for single coils.
To me it looks like Fender humbuckers at the bridge and neck, with a single coil in the middle. The look kinda shiny PAF-style, but I think that's just plastic reflecting. Think that guitar is a Mexican Standard in HSH set-up. I say that because I'm looking at buying one and I know its one of the few models they do in that silver paint-job. (Bit ugly if you ask me, I'm prefer white)
Thanks. I saw that they are covered in those covers I've seen before and there could be anything under there, so that's why I asked. Sounds great whatever he's using.
Great review - this amps clean and distorted tones are excellent. Does anyone know if the SCX2 will distort at bedroom levels on the crunch settings or do you need overdrive pedals into the clean channel for distortion at low volumes? Tough call between this and the all SS Boss Katana 50. The Katana has excellent tones and switches from 50 to 25 to half watt power with no loss in tone or crunch.
@@soofitnsexy I agree - I bought this amp about a year after asking this question and love it. The Katanas are great but the treble sounds muted compared to the Champ.
it was an original riff. if your interested here's a link to the group I play with\ Mister Richter performing "Mister Richter" on Park City Television 2013
In a guitar store where they sell mic’s and interfaces....... still records shitty ass audio through a phone or something else not good. This amp has USB on it too lol I don’t understand the thought process of people sometimes

Curious....where does the mid tone control end up on the amp and how could you adjust it?
Is the Fender fuse software stIll available for downloading ?

Very nicely done, sold me, thx. It sounds even better in person. If your considering this amp, go play one, you will buy it.

You will love it with a greenback! I have two of these now and can’t get enough of them.
pretty much the best demo of Super Champ on UA-cam, great work! :)

A good, unpretentious demo of this amp. Thank you
Thanks for taking the time to demo this!
I'm getting this Amp by the way. Thanks for the awesome demo.
Great review! A guitar player with skills makes all the difference! If I ever doubted buying this amp, it has faded now. I'm looking to get one ASAP!
Very good demo, pleasant to hear! Great job!
The recorder is one of the little Zoom recorders that records video and sound.
I like this dude's style. Great, thorough review.
Awesome amp review. I just got a Champ myself, still much to learn/mess around with! Cheers. :)
Awesome review dude. I'm trying to decide whether to buy this amp and your vid has the most useful info so far.
Great demo! My only complaint would be of the sound quality. Great job
What a pretty arpeggio at 4:40. This is one of the better demos of this amp as it really sounds without fancy mics. Nice and thoughtful playing, useful presentation.
+Bill Gross Sounds like Def Leppard - Hysteria
Thanks Zotman5, you're right. Sounds good this way and the original way too.
Exactly! It's Hysteria by Def Leppard
This was a nice demo. Good job.

thats the key low volumes....u usually dont get this for the big stages!!!
Muito bom Murphy. Parabéns! excelente vídeo. Siga gravando sempre que estou curtindo muito aqui no Brasil. viva o rock!
Great review. Thanks. I bought one after this video. It is a great amp.
Cool demo, I'm convinced! Wish it was $299 in the UK but hey ho.
$299 back in 2013. Fast forward to 3/27/2020 the year of the Coronavirus, the Fender super champ x2 is $399.
Fluky Review probably mostly because of inflation
I just bought the “Fawn cover” limited edition, and it was only like $80 more... felt like it was worth it for the value long term.
Yes, I just bought mine. Fantastic!
like 10 years later whooooopteeee dooooooooo great amp!!

Great amp for the price. Shame it doesn't have an effects loop. Only downside of it.
And great, comprehensive demo :)

I believe it has a line out on it
If you crank the clean channel, does it break up like a small tube amp should?
Awesome demo!!! made me buy it! BTW what model strat is that???
Awesome review!
Bang for buck... hard to beat!
Great review!!
The pre-amp section, with it's various 'voicings', is tube; the effects section is digital. Correct?
All voices and effects are digital.
Preamplifier and final amplification are tubes.
Thats pretty Psychedelic!
Great review! How is the direct recording through USB? Thank you.
would you recommend this amp for playing styles like blink-182, and pop punk like that? I'm trying to find a good cheap amp just for smaller gigs
The supersonic model setting on this would be great for that style, and you'd also have some great effects to play with
What is the tune from 7:29 and 8:25? Loving it!
The amp sounds great for a little 15 watter, and just got added to my GAS list. But that guitar really impressed me. What guitar were you using during this demo...?
Thanks
Excellent review!
Is it coincidence or were you playing "I'm always gonna love you" by Gary Moore?
Hey man, great review! It is actually one of the best that I've seen on this amp! I was wondering how the reverb on this thing is at max. I want to get a drippy wet surf rock sound but usually you need an actual spring reverb for that
Thanks! It is a pretty wet reverb, but I don't feel like it can drown you quite like Fender's more classic amplifiers do.
Hey Great Video And Nice Playing I Want One : ) jcm
does this thing have a foot switch to get between channels?
