Here's a theory: the souls are previous players that have been killed in the nether and sucked into the block. They reach out and grab your feet so they can be freed, which is the reason they slow you down so mobs can kill you. Every time you walk the souls get flung out of the ground to be freed but what if they aren't freed? What IF they get turned into ghasts? Think about it ghast sounds like ghost. They look like ghosts that are crying because they really wanted to be freed. They harm you because they think your the reason they are trapped. But if you look at the wither his white eyes are soul eyes. He wants to kill you because you made him. The souls can't go free. JUST A THEORY!! Like if you think I made sense.

What if the enchantment is actually.ent to either propel the souls so they don't drag you down, or they push on your feet to help you run faster. 🧠
I just realized that the souls in the Soul Sand are basically the equivalent to the Will of the Wisps from the movie Brave. The Will of the Wisps are little spirits that guide Merida. But the souls in Soul Sand slow you down and cause you to sink a little, almost like quick sand.

I think the reason you move slower on soul sand now is because the souls used to be stronger to pull you in and make you one of them but over the years they have gotten older and weaker and now they just slow you down and I think when you have soul speed boots the souls try to hold on but they get pulled out and with this repeatedly happening it becomes soul soil

Soul sand is a a block found naturally only in the nether and ancient cities. Soul sand Usually slows down the movement of mobs and player walking on it. It is also used for growing nether wart, for crafting soul-related blocks, for creating a bubble collumn, and for construction a wither I know it's kinda weird pls correct my grammar tysm.

Withers could be a theory of powering it’s self due to when you hit it enough for it to turn into a destructive form for it to have a blue-ish like effect all around the withers’ body, having it to look like it’s harnessing the power of souls to create destructive power when it crushes through blocks. Soul sand was made when tons of souls fuse together to make it into a block. Back in the old versions, the nether was once considered “Hell” Because the words “Nether” meant “under” as in “underworld” and remembered when endermen were added in beta 1.8. They were genders of men but I don’t know how the differ between enderman or soul sand. But then I realized on a Reddit platform, I noticed something that enderman couldn’t escape soul sand, and enderman were once people and was a human kind like Steve himself. It’s like somehow to me enderman and soul sand have a connection with each other, and with that Reddit user and said that enderman couldn’t teleport out of soul sand. And remember you said that once people can sink into soul back when soul was added. I then started thinking of some other theories of when skeleton only spawned in the soul sand valley biome and also
Fossils Generating in that biome. What if by accident souls were taking control of the skeletons but i don’t know if that would help me support my theory since they also spawn in the over world. And fossils that also generate in soul sand valley biomes, what if there was a secret mob roaming the nether but then was consumed by the soul sand, but what entity could the big mob be? Could’ve been a new mob? Or boss…? But what kind of mob could’ve been..? Yet also despising the fact that fossils generate rarely in the over-world as well but what killed them all? What if something made those secret mobs were by somebody or something..? What if something caused all of souls to be trapped in just a singular block?? Then somehow, soul sand was used for bringing people back up to the surface of water. What does it mean?

I personally Think that It is usedvto power up Blazes and ghasts since they are proved as automaton. This could also be an explanation for ghast only being found in soul valleys. As for why wither skeletons are found as powered skellies. I think the when the first builders came to nether they fell victim to soul sand. This would also explain the wither affect given. Meaning they wish to steal your conscience to get outta here.

Actually if you walk on a normal block like grass then straight onto soul soil you will notice that soul soil still slows you down, just not as much as soul sand

The souls chill in the air because they’re are flying with the sand so they are technically souls carrying sand
Heres my theory on soul sand: you know about how the nether is the equivalent of hell in minecraft? Well people who do things that are a sin go there so i think soul sand is a bunch of players that did bad things like killing villagers thrown into one block. How does this happen you may ask, well when you die in minecraft and you hit "respawn" it sends the dead version of you to the afterlife where it might go to the nether or some other demension that is heaven this depends on whether the player did good things like protecting villagers from pillagers or not killing animals for food and they go to the nether when they do things like trapping and killing villagers and murdering all animals in they see. If we think about it to summon the wither you use soul sand, the soul sand is the one that brings all of the destruction, not the wither skulls.

Theory:The entity that was trapping souls in soul sand had a reason why and what is it?... the reason why is because the entity is trying to infect the skeletons and eleminate the other nether mobs and the more mobs killed the more souls get in soul soil becoming soul sand so the entity who is doing this is trying to make an army using the soul sand to soon infect the overworld...

Actually here is a theory
The souls in the soul sand actually belong’s to the ancient Minecraft builders but half of the crew sadly died..
So they buried the dead bodies in the ground they didn’t know that the body’s soul would create the soul sand that’s how the wither skeleton was created so the ancient builders thought if they get soul sand and wither skeleton together they would bring them back to life but instead of it doing that they accidentally created the wither a monster that killed them some of them escaped but most of them died.
The remainders decided to make the strong hold, and decided to play around with magic and made the end portal but they did not know it’s a one-way portal and got stuck in the end and learned to make peace with the dragon and soon had nothing to eat and started eating the chorus fruit and became the enderman now you know 🤓

Theory of why soul sand doesn’t fall: the souls might be grabbing onto the block holding it and trying to turn the block into another piece of soul sand…
Soul Sandman steals all the souls in this place. He’s an entity, kind of an unknown entity to me, but he steals souls.
The reason so many souls (soul effects) came out is because ‘falling sand’ is considered to be an entity. Since you glitched the block inside the soul sand it stayed and keep touching the soul sand like how you would walk on it to get the effect.

My theory : the ancient builders and players started to explore the nether and they are the players that died and some say the souls are grabbing you that’s what the slowness on soul sand is.
there are many boot enchantments like frost walk and when you kill a ghast it will drop ghast tears bcz when they look at you they mistakly realize your the one who just alook alike like wither bcz of the mouth and eyes
but when you die in survival mode in the nether and standing on the soul sand which mean when you die your character soul would be develop right in the soul sand

11:25 a theory, withered skeleton wouldn't take damage in fire but they are afraid of fire. That is probbly caused by the "someone"(The_Masks) made a mechine that forced the skeletons to turn into taller withered versions of them selfs. But they still have some memmory of before which is scard of fire, also the withered skeletons in earlier versions of minecraft had a bow which belongs to a skeleton that also supports this theory

Hi eystreem! You can actually sink in soul sand whatever the version is.... If it's 1.20 or 1.21 it still works.... But the real question is how do I know that..
One day i played Minecraft in the nether... Then i got into soul sand while searching for a block (it may be creative or survival) but... I waited too much and sinked a little bit into it... (It was 1.19 ) and then i broke the soul sand and i got out... So i hope it helps!

The reason for the faces on the soul sand are previous times someone or something has died in the nether and their soul and would get trapped in a block on one face and emotion fear if you die it frees the previous dead mob never a human tho to revive your soul stays there and the only thing you feel in the nether back there is fear (DISCLAMER:NOT ATUAL REASON ITS A THEORY!)
With the soul sand floating maybe the souls can move around in the sand so they push up and make it float
I think the shadow is an AI that spawns after this glitch the mixture of blocks and it could make sense if it kept the skeletons and making the souls control its body.

Blue fire is the same colour as the souls when they escape so maybe wait blue fire can only be placed on soul soil so it’s like the fire absorbed the souls but why
soul sand, the nether might only have those blocks because when making the nether portal, your actually opening the portal to hell and the souls in soul sand are trapped and you free them when you walk on them with the soul speed enchantment.

A theory I have about soul sand is that mabey the soul sand vallys in the nether used to just be deserts and a ancient civilization was making a lot of trips to the nether for its resources and they somehow died in the desert and the sand soaked up the souls of the dead explores and became soul sand and now soul sand slows players down to increase the chance of them dieing so they can take their soul
I got a theory. What if the wither are the souls in there true form. Think about it. You use wither skeleton heads. Skeletons are a form of undead people. And souls and spirits can be sometimes considered as ghosts which are undead too. So. What if the wither spawns because it is souls that have been freed but combined together and have the added power and energy of the wither skeletons!

Just saying, for the soul sand and wither, wither actually counts as a overworld mob and on carved red clay actually have a wither in it. bedrock have wither skeleton head on it.
