I was 15 years old when this song came out. I remember the video when it first aired. And I remembered how blown away I was with it. I am still blown away by it.
Just as strong today as it was 37 years ago. I can't think of any "2019" song that people will be listening to 37 years from now that could hold up like this.
The era of songs becoming classics that live forever is dead, man. Songs go viral for a few days now, probably for the best they get forgotten when the new shiny turd gets dropped, most music has sucked since like 2010, especially since the only thing that gets play time now is garbage hip hop music that would make Tupac spin in his grave.
I don't disagree that this song is f**king killer. The thing is, I think people are most impressionable in their youth, even into their 20s. So you and I might not enjoy the new music, but young people nowadays will probably have numerous songs that do for them what Eminence Front does for you and me. And they'll hear it playing 30 years from now and the song will be elevated with sentimental feels.
As a Sound Man - Sound checks like the one in the Video were always really cool because you will likely get to hear lots of stuff that the audience might not like new material or jamming or the band playing around / experimenting with different sounds. Some of my favorite times!
The most unlike The Who sounding track in the catalogue imho.....belongs on a Townshend solo album......definitely a music curve ball, David Bowie's track Fame is another one I think of the same.
Took me a while also!!! Was on the phone and asked my Cali buddy what's the name of this song!! He new straight up!! It was playing on the radio of all places!!! He said after my funeral I want everyone to go outside...fire up a blunt and play this!!

I've been listening to this song since the day it was released.
It's now 2024.
Still hasn't gotten old.
So have I and I totally agree
I'm 40 and just heard this song for the first time on the radio... I dont know how the fuck this happened to me!
I'm glad you remember, "people forget"
This is one great band!
This track is genius...I don't use that term lightly. Check it
CHECKED
agree
Finally I know who are these guys!!! The who!!! Had no idea!!! Listened for this song long time ago and yet didn't know about them!!! Thanks Shazam!!!
Ricardo Aponte M are you from Mars?
Who?
michael...
people forget....
The... Who?
Well I urge you (6 months later) to listen to their music FROM their debut... And read their Wikipedia page, it might brings you light on WHO they really are :).
I've loved this song far longer than I've understood the meaning.
i went to many concerts in the day...their Marshall stacks were beyond belief...they had them well past 100,000 amps but yet crystal clear..The Who had the best sound engineers on the planet ...I still haven't heard anything like it...
This is my tune. When you hear it, you don't even have to turn around to see who's walking down the street. You know it's me.
Strut it up dude!
Even if you're not there.
Tim Mooney yeeesss
I'll take your word for it!
I know dats right! Slow walk!
The best WHO song.
I love this track , Best ever
Definitely a great one. Haven't heard it in a while. A treat.
Miss the old station 100.3 FM the sound a few years ago. They always played the Who. This song was very popular. 😎🕶🤘👌👍☝️
its not often you heard a who track with townsend on the lead vocals but when he stepped up you knew he was gonna blow you away. the greatest band to come out of west London no questions asked no quarter given. turn it up people. (KDST)
It was Axl Rose who said that!
I am. Will never get old. Rock and Roll at it's best!!!!
Just imagine leaving playing this song while leaving your house with new suit, new car. Looking fly.
I have done that 😎
I do that everyday.
I was 15 years old when this song came out. I remember the video when it first aired. And I remembered how blown away I was with it. I am still blown away by it.
I imagine , how this song would have sounded with Keith at the drums
Jones is a hell of of a drummer
Ouvi no GTA S.A e agora estou aqui ouvindo essa musica top..

Just as strong today as it was 37 years ago. I can't think of any "2019" song that people will be listening to 37 years from now that could hold up like this.
I can think of one :) It's called "Ball and Chain" check it out!
Metallica is still doing some cool things
I can totally see Floated By - Pete Cat Recording Co. aging like fine wine.
The best driving beat in rock to date.
Damn Straight
Real
As a Sound Man - Sound checks like the one in the Video were always really cool because you will likely get to hear lots of stuff that the audience might not like new material or jamming or the band playing around / experimenting with different sounds. Some of my favorite times!
Magical groove. Poignant lyrics. Timeless classic.
Never thought of myself as a Who fan...then there's this song...
The groove of this song is unbelievable 😮😮😮 , legendary ✊
I've been trying to find this song for 4 years, I never knew the name or who it was by. Holy shit I cant believe I found it
The most unlike The Who sounding track in the catalogue imho.....belongs on a Townshend solo album......definitely a music curve ball, David Bowie's track Fame is another one I think of the same.
Congratulations! I am sure it was worth the wait : )
Took me a while also!!! Was on the phone and asked my Cali buddy what's the name of this song!! He new straight up!! It was playing on the radio of all places!!! He said after my funeral I want everyone to go outside...fire up a blunt and play this!!
Welcome home. Long awaited
One of the best songs sonically. So electric and raw sounding.
I love how the bass is basically the Bee Gees' - Nights on Broadway intro.
If you watch set in the eighties true crime movie THE INFILTRATOR...this is what plays over the end credits
Good film
