I missed the live presentation. I love the portrait of Anne Boelyn and the necklace you are wearing in her honor. When I watched "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" on television back in the early 1970s, I was touched by the fall of Anne Boelyn. I did a presentation in my 8th grade English class on Henry VIII and his six wives. Anne Boelyn was my favorite of King Henry VIII's wives. Thank you so very much for your presentation.
I think its funny the portrait of Anne, the one behind you in this video, you have said in other videos you believe this is the closest to what she actually looked like, because when I look at then I see younger paintings of Elizabeth 1, which you would assume would resemble her mother in some ways! She got alot of her beauty from her mom💜
How could anyone believe she wanted to kill the King? Her predecessor was dumped, isolated, & left to die for not having a surviving son. And Catherine was popular with the people! Anne was not safe until she was the mother of a healthy prince. She needed Henry around(& his protection) until at least she had a healthy boy. How could anyone believe(& her Uncle was on the jury) she wanted to harm her best chance?
Thank you so very much, Clare. I honored AB's death yesterday, like I do every year. Thank you for making Anne Boelyn a very real, nuanced woman whom I heartily admire. You've been such a big part of that.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a video on UA-cam from Panagiotis Constantinou. He’s a photograph artist that can bring old portraits and busts to life. He did Tudor family. Henry, Anne and Elizabeth. It was stunning seeing them come to life. The only problem is that he used the portrait of Anne that’s behind you. Isn’t the picture on the Moost Happi metal a more accurate representation of her. If so, do you know of someone that can do the same using the metal? It will be nice to see the real her. I love the advances in technology. Thank you again for the live stream. It was lovely.
Enjoyed this Q&A so much! In regards to the B necklace if you look at the William Scrots portrait of Elizabeth I, that she sent to her brother - if you look at the necklace, it looks very similar to the B, with the three pearls and gems in the empty spaces of the B? I often wondered at its similarity.

Just watched video Nov. 22, 2021. Great episode. While you described Queen Anne walking up the stairs I got a shiver. It is hard to understand that there was no alternative, or escape for her from this dreadful end.
Pity about the buffering. It was frustrating missing chunks of sentences so not getting the full answers to the questions. In spite of that a most enlightening stream with you answering each question thoroughly with your astounding knowledge of a very fascinating subject, Her Majesty QueenAnne Boleyn. Thank you so much from an Aussie devotee.
Thank you Claire! Really enjoyed this 🥰 and you look fabulous! It was nice for all to join and remember Anne on this day. So sad:( but I think she was as brave as a lion and amazing woman . Also why is Anne Boylen your favorite Queen? Just curious

All your efforts much appreciated and you looked lovely Claire, and (as always) spoke so well. 👍 ... Also thanks for your answers to questions asked in 'chat' . "A BRILLIANT PRESENTATION CLAIRE"❗
The waiting must have been excruciating. Then to have it delayed !!!! Knowing that you’re innocent too. Imagine the stress. What an amazingly strong woman. Can you see Harry and his wife being so stoic in the face of there own demise. They’d not shut up whining about it.
Anne was a girl therefore her birth was not recorded in the family Bible. Only a son was important enough in Tudor times to be recorded. She also was not " royal" at her birth like Catherine of Aragon.
Yeah, or maybe some reference to her having a birthday and getting gifts in the three years she was Queen?? Unless they just didn't really celebrate birthdays back then, idk
I know your live is over, but i am so curious to know exactly what inditmentd were and what findings were used to persuade so many that their are no factual evidence. For example, where was so and so during a particular event
Is it true that her attending ladies were not very close to her and were placed with her to more or less watch and listen to what she was doing and saying in the tower? But in the end we’re quite moved when she went to the scaffold?
I believe Henry VIII always had a 'tyrant side'. Said side was fully unleashed when he became head of the Church of England. Imagine what replacing the Pope as Head of the Church meant to a late medieval mind, and Henry was always a late 15th century thinker. removing the Pope made him fully 'Emperor in his Kingdom'. The full on removal of papal authority seems to cement in 1536. That's why so many people think that year changed Henry. As for the 'personality change via head injury theory'.....yes, Henry did have a jousting accident in 1536. His state caused huge concerns. That's why we have primary sources talking about it. But the notion of personality change relies on one source written by someone who was not in England at the time. Moreover...I have a friend who recently survived frontal lobe brain injury - in the first weeks following the big trauma, some of her more 'bossy' personality traits were exacerbated. She lost a bit of her natural empathy. But it didn't last. Very soon, her personality stabilised back to being herself. What changes are left now concern noise perception, vertigo. If the jousting accident did lead to brain trauma in Henry, it could not have changed his personality.
We know because of the timing. Anne's execution was scheduled for 18th May but she was only tried on 15th May so there just wasn't time for a message to be sent to Calais, be received and the executioner travel to London in time for 18th, or even 19th.
Clair, once Anne was executed was her body not properly prepared before burial? I also wonder If the box she was buried in was big enough for her body. Talk about a double insult....
Is there any way that mark smeaton would have wanted to get rid of Anne? As she reminded him of his low status. What could you say about the phrase “a dead man shoes”?
Dead men’s shoes refers to what Anne said to another while talking to him. Dead men’s shoes would mean the kings and it meant that she was saying you won’t marry another because you are waiting for my husband to die to be with me.
@@AshleyLebedev I always get shocked by that statement. Like why does she think she would be wanted by that man? It takes a lot of confidence to say that. It’s also implying that Henry is already close to death, because he was young at that time and so was she. Henry wasn’t close to death and by the time he would be, Anne would have been too old to have children. So no one would have wanted her then. Unless Henry was already close to death.
It's a shame it keeps skipping through sentences, there was one where you started with "Apparently, the Duke..." that sounded interesting, but I'll never know what the continuation of that sentence is!
Slightly off-topic: I've heard many times over that despite everything that happened, E I still loved her father. Hard to believe. In reality if you think about it she was robbed of a chance to have any meaningful relationship with either of her parents. I think that is why it is hard for some to reconcile that Elizabeth still loved her father after all he did.

Maybe that's too strong of a word? But it just doesn't seem right somehow. I wonder if it was done on purpose or was it a total accident or coincidence?! I used to live near Rochford, Essex, where Rochford Hall, a manor of the Boleyns, still stands. Lovely countryside and easy to reach from London.
Everyone always blames Cromwell but I believe that Charles Brandon may have had a major role to play as well, yet he doesn't get half as much stick
It's so strange that a Queen wouldn't have so much details about date of birth documented somewhere

Not likely, but what is likely is Mark being legally - because of his station - to be allowed to be tortured, confessing under that torture.
